Giants issue with SBs is not getting enough guys on there in first place. OB is 13th NL. Fitz (leads team with 8 SBs) OB is down to .305…unacceptable. Last year his numbers spiked dramatically in July August. Needs to find that spark again and get out of doldrums. as is he’s another underwhelming hitter at position Giants don’t have much hope for elsewhere.

Stealing bases seems to help our guys. When we were stealing early we were winning.
When we stopped, the wins were fewer and farther between. We are running again, and we are winning.
If we had better hitting across the board we wouldn’t need to move the runners into scoring position. We don’t so we do. The Cubbies are 3rd in SBs and are in 1st so they get some kind of benefit from it.

My point is stealing is much more critical to us because we aren’t hitting the ball all over the place. It isn’t even about home runs. It’s about putting the ball in play.
The HR stats are equally all over the place. AZ, LAA, and Seattle are among the leaders in home runs, but are all under .500. Deetroit and Houston are in the middle but leading their divisions.
