A Place To Talk About Giants Baseball

Sneaking Away With Another One

Posted in Uncategorized by Flavor on June 11, 2025

I know the win is important but honestly I’m just looking for our elite bullpen to not get torched too much in Sherpaland before we get to LA. Bivens eating some innings helped it be a more normal game. Adames blasting one is a nice start as is seeing Casey get going. We’re gonna have to count on him big time with Chappy out.

Airight…who had Wilmer Flores tieing game with two out INFIELD single in 9th? 50th RBI of season. Cardiac kids 1st team since ‘89 Halos to win 6th consecutive 1-run games. Win today with Ray and lock down another series win before visit to Hollywood.

I like Dean leading off! The Flap line-up needs an occasional shake up, too.

Good thought on not burning up the pen pre -Hollywood, Flavor…

Yeah good point. Melvin admitted sending out Bivens for another inning was mistake.

Just gave you shout out for Odd Couple link you posted yesterday. Liked movie but really liked TV show. Password might be my favorite episode.

And who had Mr.Speed Wilmet after churning out that infield topper for the tie, then still mile high exhaustion still finds away to go 1st to 3rd and make it on Yaz GW.Even though he didn’t end up scoring I was extra impressed with his hustle, he’s sneaky fast..

Rox gonna Rox. Schmitt hits first HR all season and closer walks Fitz and Knizner 8/9 hitters plus the wild pitch. Team win with contributions from everyone, D too. Clutch play by Dom and Knizner cut down baserunner too.

    • Macdog's avatar Macdog said, on June 11, 2025 at 10:33 am

The 5-pitch walk to automatic out Knizner was the key AB. I was praying at worse he would strike out and not risk a DP, but he came through and never swung the bat.

it’s not rocket science. Groundskeepers raze and rebuild mounds all season long — for concerts, football or soccer games, etc

Djloo…liked link you posted yesterday on Walter Matthau & Jack Lemon. The infamous Old Couple duo. I actually thought rare occasion where TV version was better than movie one.

Your link brought back great memories of ABC Friday night lineup in early 70’s. If memory serves me correct, Brady Bunch followed by Partridge Family, Room 222, Odd Couple and Love American Style. Karen Valentine was one of my earliest teen idols. Susan Dey not far behind.

friend in college assured me that network primetime lineups featured themes that ran through every show from 8pm to 11. I didn’t watch much tv. Years later, for reasons I don’t recall, I found myself watching NBC thursday night tv and sure enough there was a castration theme:

      mild in Cosby and that show with Michael j Fox (just women one-upping men, really);

      clearer in Cheers (main plot concerned destruction of a first edition of The Sun Also Rises);

but blatant in Night Court (old friend who was a pussy hound when young has trans surgery to become a woman) and Hill St Blues (several issues, but mainly sculptor risking life and limb to prevent the city from removing his “obscenely” phallic statue from a public park).

Years later I googled it: Nov. 7, 1985. I’ve never managed to sit through a full primetime lineup again, I guess.

I think you nailed it there Dean. Haven’t thought of Karen Valentine in decades. Still alive at 78. I don’t want to see any pictures – I’m depressed enough…

    T. Hernandez with 3 run HR as dogs beat Pads 5-2. Trivino with W, one of 8 LA pitchers.

baily on DL is a big bummer. Hopefully our backup can handle the pitchers

  11. alleykat69's avatar alleykat69 said, on June 11, 2025 at 4:41 pm

Yeah Mrsprtdude injury bug coming at the wrong time with a huge series against Dogpile coming up next! No Chapman, No Bailey is huge.Another Newbie coming in Catcher Logan Porter hit .237 at Sac actually an upgrade from Bailey at .185 but defensively a major dropoff from the GG Bailey.Newbie’s are 6-0 maybe another one helps keep that going.I still have faith in C Kizner he’s pretty experienced just another Giant that needs to get the bat going..

They DFA SS Osabie off the 40 man, no big loss anyway just another of the long list of AAAA the Giants have going with right now..

thought I saw the 1B coach tell Fitz to go to 2B, pointing that way.

    • xoot's avatar xoot said, on June 11, 2025 at 6:12 pm

ah. The tv people looked at it again and showed that the decision was not Fitz’s fault.

  17. alleykat69's avatar alleykat69 said, on June 11, 2025 at 6:11 pm

Jesus Fitzgerald is so dumb running the bases. He clearly should have stayed at 1st instead of heading toward 2nd as the ball heads directly back to the first baseman and he was dead meat then!

  18. Dean's avatar Dean said, on June 11, 2025 at 6:14 pm

Despite euphoria we’ve all embraced past week, Giant baserunning is deplorable. Very deplorable. Incredibly deplorable.

Chappy on IR due to leaning to far off 1B. Ridiculous way for perhaps MVP of Giants everyday lineup to incur injury and end up on IR. And what is Fitz thinking in 2nd inning tonight? Accept the errant throw and stay on 1B.

Clearly players bear responsibility. But can’t believe 1B coach doesn’t also bear accountability.

    • xoot's avatar xoot said, on June 11, 2025 at 6:18 pm

the announcers trashed Fitz tonight for trying to go to 2B then ate crow over replay that clearly showed the coach telling him to go.

Wilburrrrr tacks on another RBI on sac fly 8-6

Trivia on this day in 1972 SF Pitcher Randy Moffitt made his MLB Debut! His sister is Tennis Star Billie Jean King now a despised part owner of The Dogpile..

  38. Paul Sorensen's avatar Paul Sorensen said, on June 11, 2025 at 8:43 pm

Yeah, Tom, if the team thought Encarnacion was going to be their slugger off the bench, they should probably think again. Batting .059, not even sure how that’s possible. And these 2 catchers… maybe one of ’em will pick it up, but eek… Good thing everyone else is coming around now.

  39. Locojuan's avatar Locojuan said, on June 11, 2025 at 8:46 pm

Put it in the win column.

  40. willedav's avatar willedav said, on June 11, 2025 at 8:47 pm

Doval had trouble with cutter, bad location and velo was down. At that point he only trusts the slider.

  41. willedav's avatar willedav said, on June 11, 2025 at 8:53 pm

Cutter normally 99+, not tonight. MLB said down to 96 on HR and that pitch was belt high. This was issue he had last year when he only felt confident with slider. Velo on that was down too

  42. alleykat69's avatar alleykat69 said, on June 11, 2025 at 8:56 pm

4 run lead and after Doval threw a shitload of pitches last night Lurch should of started the 9th now over 50 pitches 2straight game he’s not chucking tomorrow..His velocity was way down , hey they hung on for the win with the usual torture, but couldn’t Lurch get those 3 outs? 7-0 with the newbie’s gotta love that only 1/2 game back..

  43. djloo27's avatar djloo27 said, on June 11, 2025 at 9:15 pm

Crazy ass comebacks! Digging it. Our house of horrors is becoming home-sweet-home.

But why the fuck did MoTel put Doval in? He threw ~25 pitches yesterday. He musta thrown 30 tonight. Got it done, but way too many pitches thrown. Ideal time to put Rodriguez in. He hasn’t pitched since Sunday.
