A Place To Talk About Giants Baseball

Squeaking Out A W

Posted in Uncategorized by Flavor on June 20, 2025

Anyone who doesn’t think Devers is a team-first guy can suck it. He has proven he can fit right in with the best of the worst hitters around….lqtm

But all that is going to change tonight. Electricity will be in the cool night air and I am expecting that my attendance at the game will nudge the collective offense in the right direction. Birdy will do his thing and Devey will slap an oppo taco right into my open, eager and waiting hands…..

I wonder if there’ll be hostilities. When the Red Sox used to sell out the E Coli, things were mellow. At least at the one game I attended. The Bay Area Boston fans seemed genteel.

      and enjoy!

Devers does have ring of his own from 2018. Once Sox broke 100 year curse (like Cubs) fans started to come out of woodwork and you’d seen more hats and gear locally. Passionate too in East Coast fashion.

Baggs: “Melvin hopes that Devers will be playable at 1b soon.” hmmnn

doubt it will be soon, certainly not vs his old team. Gotta get that bat going first.

Right. Wonder if Flores better vs. LH SP, used more off bench behind Dom vs. RHP.

Saw Boston in 2004 and spent the weekend in the city when we were living in Roseville.

Blown away by how many Red Sox fans were all over town that weekend. They were fine. G’s lost 2 of 3 iiirc.

Boston starting all right pitchers in series but I’m sure Flores will get a start at 1B in one them, his bat needs to get in more other than a PH appearance..

Birdland is due a good outing. He’s been kinda squirrely once he hits the 4th inning.

this from Slusser, plus wisely’s back in town for some reason. Be cool to see Will Clark hanging out at BP. Gates often open after the Giants are done though.

Sorry to interrupt the game, but if you’re not tired of analyzing the Devers trade from Boston’s situational perspective, this is not a bad read by Passan.

    • snarkk's avatar snarkk said, on June 20, 2025 at 8:53 pm

Giants have regularly said 1b is not at all an easy position to play. But, they’re prepared now to put a guy there who has never ever played it — with only a few weeks of practice in between games. His bat better get really hot before he starts trying to pick real-game short hoppers from Adames…

    I like inter-league play.

I’d way rather see (i) the Gs play the RSox and Yanks and Guardians 6 times a year than zero times, instead of (ii) see the Dbacks, Pads and Rockies a boring-ass 19X rather than a tolerable 13X …
