Still Winnin’
Annnnnnd…..we’re back to 10 games over .500. For all the hand wringing and doomsday talk about this team, we are 1 of only 8 teams 10 games over .500. Before the season started I think we’d all be thrilled to be 10 games over on June 23rd.
The team MVP so far: Randy Rogers.
Heliot Rodriguez.
Though in the fashion of Spanish speaking countries to add mother’s maiden name, best to attach Flores to Heliot Rodriguez
TR has been every bit as good as Rodriquez, but point taken. Everyone will trust 99 with command over a doofus who’s always two or three disciplined ABs away from a bad inning. Those ABs rarely happen in proximity, but it’s still unnerving to watch no matter how successful he is at keeping hitters off balance. It’s also been great feeling like we have a legit star in Heliot.
Rogers is close to wall of fame status. As I’ve said before, he’ll be as legendary as Lavelle and Minton.
Shirely you must be joking.
Randy Rodgers Ramos has cool ring to it and those 3 are MVP’s of the club for sure..
Webb still being Webb of course but I have a feeling Ray is slip sliding away some..
Vamos Randy Webb
Ha, good one. Can’t ignore what Webb does. Sets bar for rotation.
Ramos A/S last year Ramos A/S this year imo.
Those kids that catch HR derby balls ( cue Loo waiting for a kid to get injured/killed)probably field better then Ramos
If there was a midseason Willie Mac award I’m sure it would go to Mr. Ed in a landslide…
He’d be fourth 2-time winner, joining Krukow, Snow and Bengie.
Fitz to Sac.
Well saw this coming Fitz has been like a deer in the headlights for the whole season, totally lost his confidence maybe Sac playing everyday will help but who knows? It’s Schmitt’s job now at 2nd full time once Chappy returns. But for now it’s a platoon of Wisely/Koss that doesn’t get me excited but nobody playing their all year has…
Kat, I’d totally forgotten he’d broken his rib. Do you think that’s messed him up at all?
Probably so Baldy any injury to the ribs/ pectoral has to effect your swing. These players fight through a lot even Schmitt on one leg but when their up in the bigs they don’t want to give up their spot. The medical staff/Melvin need to step in and make the call. With Fitz it’s both mental and physical for now..
Some guys can comeback from a major injury, other’s careers are over after a minor IL episode. Wishing Fitz the best.
I just read up a bit, doing so jogged my very poor memory on the Fitizzy situation (besides the fact that he has sucked). He had a decent ST and through April he hit .284/.341/.432 with a 119wRC+. Pretty dang good. He went down for a couple of weeks in early May with the rib issue. Shortly after that the team started their first mini-slump with the series in Minn. Fitz was central to several of those early come from behind/walk-offs and when he went down I think it shook the team a bit. And, he hasn’t been same since.
Lee sat out one game with a back “issue.” He’s been pretty ineffective since then.
disappointed Fitz got sent down. He could have played the super utility role. Koss is a poor man’s Fitz
B/R says John Rabb bday today still alive age 65. Debut September 4 1982 vs. Cards in game won by Giants with walk off 3 run bomb by Jack Clark off Sutter. Cards won it all that year.
Good to hear John Rabb is still alive. For me as well since I’m 3 years older..
But not unfortunately for Guitarist singer songwriter Mick Ralphs 81 co founder of both Mott The Hopple &Bad Company RIP Mick 🎤🎸
Yeah I was hoping Fitz could snap out of it somewhat other then being their best bunted and fastest player, but when you’re down to safety squeezes are moving runners up that’s not going to cut it..Koss shouldn’t even be up Wisely?More experience but Meh ..
No mean feat starting 2 successful bands.
