Could being no hit just around the corner just to top off this incredible run of the worst stretch of baseball I’ve ever seen..
I still say June 2014 was worse.

If for no other reason, Melvin needs to go because he’s ruining Jung Hoo Lee. The Giants signed Lee to be their leadoff hitter for the foreseeable future. Why? Because he’s a born leadoff hitter (Grandson of the Wind and all that), and the Giants haven’t had a true leadoff hitter in ages. He started out this year as the leadoff hitter, and he flourished there. That first month, maybe a little more, it seemed like Lee and Wilmer (with a little bit of Yaz) were carrying the team.
One of the stoopidest mistakes a manager can make is to change something that is working, and working well. Whatever DimBulb BoMel’s thinking was in moving Lee down in the order, it was wrong. Lee hasn’t flourished there, so DBBM slips him down even further to 6th in the order. The player the team signed for a lot of money and a lot of years to be THE leadoff hitter (which he’s shown he can do) is now batting 6th in the lineup. I would guess Buster doesn’t want to meddle in daily lineup issues, but this is bigger than that, as it runs counter to the organization’s plans. It makes no sense. Allstar break would be a great time to make a major change.
Yeah, I really really don’t get the idea that moving guys all over the place in the lineup is a good idea. Most players like to have a spot from game to game.

And yes Lee should be the Leadoff hitter, he’s still learning the league, the pitchers but he’s their best option.Roger Craig was never stupid always had Brett Butler leading off and he was fantastic in that role,not saying Lee is in Butler’s category but he still would be able to do that job if Melvin pulls his head out of his ass and lead him off every game.
last year, from Baggs in The Athletic, when everyone was considering where to bat Lee:
“Lee was a No. 3 hitter with Kiwoom and broke out for a career-best 23 home runs in 2023. So he said he wouldn’t be intimidated if asked to hit in that spot.”
Lee didn’t steal bases a lot in Korea, of course. He’s learning that skill I believe. He’s smart as a whip.

They are all looking to hit home runs. Lee most of all shouldn’t be. This ain’t Korea. He hits more worthless pop flies than anyone else on the team not named Adames. Adames shouldn’t be. Yaz shouldn’t be. Devers is gonna come around. Let him flail away.
The fucking guy who came up in the 7th and hit the ball to take the lead is what fucking Burrell needs to tell these guys. Sometimes you just need to hit the ball where they are pitching it, and just put the ball in play. Esp with 2 strikes.

And there’s nothing quite like giving the fans a reason to fuck with a ball hit to the fence. That home run that they took away anyway could have very well been an out.
Anybody remember mid-September of last year, Giants had 3 consecutive games they were shut out by Mil 0-3, SD 0-5, SD 0-8 (out hit 33-9 over those 3 games)? During that stretch, until end of Sept, consistently, every week or so, they’d blow somebody out (Mil 13-2; Bal 10-0; KC 9-0; AZ 11-0). At that time, Yaz, Fitz, Wade & Beer League were mostly carrying the team. But consistency was again the problem. Fitz, for example, would go 3-5, 4-4 etc, couple games; the next few he’d get o‘fers or the occasional golden sombrero. I don’t really have a point to make other than Baseball sure is a weird & wonderful game.
and .. fwiw .. Last year, G’s were shut out 8 times in the season. This year, at half way point, G’s have been shut out 8 times.

hmmm, I believe I can answer this one for you Loo .. yes, you’re correct, it takes one year (365 days) for the Earth to go completely around the Sun. A day is 1/365th of year. A day is the Earth literally going around itself (spinning on its axis) which takes 24 hours. Hope that was helpful. 😉

Too funny. The day I declare Melvin must go, G’s extend him. I guess I’m a little out of synch with this team at the moment. Gotta say, this move just took my interest in this season down a notch. Melvin is terrible and will not be leading the team to the post season this year. Or next. I’ve loved Buster’s moves, but this one just seems so stoopid to me. Maybe it’s just me and everything will be fine. Good luck to them.

Say what you will but Williams has lost 5 games for us with his inept 3rd base coaching. MoTel’s lineup looniness is doing the team no favors. Burrell is doing what? Holding MoTel’s beer?
Teaching the players things like how to run bases, and how to hit with 2 strikes is something the coaches don’t seem to be doing.
How do players get to the ML not knowing that shit? They’ve all been playing baseball in some form since they were children…

Fine, except the roster that the FO has assembled isn’t the problem. Yes, a bunch of players are under-performing, but the only thing I blame Posey for is extending Dim Bulb Bob.
Hey I’m with you Paul I really liked how Posey first saw the dark hole at 1B and jettisoned Wade even being a former teammate together but it was time and he made a move with Smith and that was an upgrade.Then he blows all of baseball aggressively pulling off the Devers trade, a much needed bat .So high marks there, but giving Melvin now an extension Burrell,Williams his full endorsement I have to disagree, I don’t care how many meetings they have had together it’s not working..

You know, Posey could have just come out with a statement of support for Dim Bulb Bob and the coaches, it was just so unnecessary to extend that contract right now. But I guess the “statement of support” without a new contract could be viewed as the proverbial kiss of death. Which would’ve been fine with me.
