A Place To Talk About Giants Baseball

More Of The Same

Hey! Whattya know, we scored 2 runs again!

San Dawg texted me that he liked the Melvin extension because Posey was essentially saying “if you want to point the finger at someone point it at me.” I suppose that’s an admirable position for Buster to take but it avoids there being any accountability anywhere in the organization for this epic meltdown the team has undergone. Like, ok Buster is taking responsibility for this but nothing is happening. No heads roll. No changes made. We are still just stuck with shitty coaching and failure up and down the line up. What’s Buster gonna do, fire himself?

So he takes the heat off the coaching staff a little bit. How does that fix this mess?

It’s on the players (key word here) Posey has accumulated on his roster, and no one else.

      • xoot's avatar xoot said, on July 2, 2025 at 8:55 am

but it’s the coaching staff that hasn’t taught green players like Chapman to run the bases or Adames to see a slider, isn’t it?

    • bassbaldy's avatar bassbaldy said, on July 2, 2025 at 8:43 am

Buster is saying “I set the roster”. He isn’t setting the daily lineup. The complexion of the lineup, the batting order in particular, does seem to be a bit of an issue and, that’s on BoMel.

  2. djloo27's avatar djloo27 said, on July 2, 2025 at 6:44 am

All Buster has to do is look at his 3 rings (especially the last one) to know that anything is possible. He’s not about to panic…

    • djloo27's avatar djloo27 said, on July 2, 2025 at 7:28 am

But Matt Williams has really earned a demotion…

I’m guessing Buster must be feeling a bit frustrated, after making that monster trade that has not yet helped the team but certainly will at some point. It’s just a matter of whether or not it’ll be too late. But yeah, he’s not going to panic or freak out. The only way something changes is if the players start performing to their potential. The coaches, fuck ’em, if they’re no good, don’t listen to them, and Melvin will do what Melvin will do, so it’s up to the players at this point. Pride, a sudden coming together, whatever. We’ve seen that they can win; winning begets winning and losing begets losing, so they don’t look too happy out there right now.

He knows it’s not a great hitting team just look at both LA&SD filled with A/S caliber talent!Guess it’s admirable that Posey wants to take the heat, but for what a bunch of underachievers heading nowhere but down..

New job for Matt Williams after his demotion…Bottom of steps leading into the clubhouse with his “Windmill Matt” signature send sign is that all Urinals are good to go for the players useage ..

“I (‘ll) remember April” yes, great month for SF and great tune. thanks Mr b b

Gosh, it is almost embarrassing to admit how much Giants baseball affects my mental health. April, I was walking on Mighty Clouds of Joy! I had not been in such a great overall mood for some years. I’m not feeling so good now, but also have to admit the slide from April has not been as brutal on my well being as it could. That’s because April was so freakin awesome!! We went 19-12 that month, only losing consecutive games twice! Ahhhhh, it was so GREAT!

May, we were 19-12. Was surprised to see identical 13-14 records for both May & June. I thought June especially would be worse than May. Go figure.

      • bassbaldy's avatar bassbaldy said, on July 2, 2025 at 9:15 am

correction .. April not May we were 19-12.

        AILoo:

        Giants records by month:

        March: 3-1

        April: 16-11

        May: 13-14

        June: 13-14

        July: 0-1

This (LAST) move to WA State from CA affected me mentally and physically. I actually thought I had retorn my rotator cuff. The WA State buy was seamless . . . Selling my CA home was the opposite. Every day I thought the buyer was going to bail or make some additional ridiculous counter offer or say something like, “The roof needs to be replaced” (which the buyer did). Basically, I told the buyer to pound sand. My home was actually a bargain. Anyway, the mental anguish was secondary to the physical toil. I am in good shape. Not anymore . . . I have not worked out since unpacking here. Saw a doctor and fortunately he said, “You have an impingement (inflammation).” I have only started to work out recently.

The good news is that my new home is nirvana or heavan on Earth. Surpassed all my expectations.

2014 World Champs were 30-20 after winning on May 29th. They lost their last 2 in May, went 12-14 in June, then lost their first 6 in July so that was a 12-22 stretch leaving them at 42-42…

Oakland is lucky Fisher got spooked by the pandemic and the office tower glut. He pulled the plug on his Howard Terminal fantasy becz he realized that he might not make a real estate development fortune immediately. Many wise people said look at the Giants. Be patient. Develop over time. Not Fisher.

if he sells the team, I doubt they return to the Bay Area….

      Greetings Boys!

I hope you are all well. I love what Buster said because I think the issue with this team is that the roster is short on talent. I predicted 74 wins for this team before the season started and I was shocked as hell when Melvin got them 10-12 games over .500 recently.

They had zero good hitters on this team before they picked up Devers—and obviously he hasn’t done much to help since getting here. Chapman is a lifetime .240 hitter, Adames .245 with 170 whiffs a year. Adames has been horrible, and I don’t blame that on Melvin or Burrell.

When is Bailey going to get some criticism? This guy is AWFUL. He might be the worst hitter in MLB and he can’t cleanly catch 10 pitches in a row. They had the balls to send Doval to AAA—now they need to do the same with Bailey.

And the pitching staff is full of question marks.

They are who I thought they were and I applaud Buster for putting this on himself and the players.

What is the solution? I don’t see a quick fix. Ride the season out, hope the farm system starts to produce and use free agency to plug the many holes we have–C, CF, 2B for starters….

I have no problem with sending JH Lee to Sactown either to learn how to go the opposite way and handle a freaking fastball.

It’s up to the players now. Not just cheerleading from Adames, but putting it all out there on the field. They’ve been playing like a dead-ass team, and we haven’t even hit the proverbial dog days of summer yet. Not sure which player(s) will lead the way, but someone has to…

Adames giving the ump the evil eye for what he thought was a check swing. No cred Willy . . . at least until you demonstrate a batting average more than a few points above the Mendoza line.

As frustrating as the offense has been, I’m still watching the pitching. Are there 3 starters who will give the team 5-7 good innings the majority of starts? Will the bullpen keep its collective ERA under 3? If the answer to both of those is “yes,” I think the run production will rebound and be good enough to prevent them from falling out of contention. That’s all we can hope for.

  13. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck said, on July 2, 2025 at 7:30 pm

and ferfucks sake we know what Bailey is. A defensive catcher who is good at handling a pitching staff.

He’s not getting 800 gaZilion dollars like Adames is. but you are right about the lack of talent. I figured they’d be better just for the change. I guess we will see.

  16. Paul Sorensen's avatar Paul Sorensen said, on July 2, 2025 at 7:40 pm

If it is sort of reset time, it’s perhaps appropriate that Lee, Wilmer, and Yaz have produced the first runs, as they were the ones leading the way in that nice April…. if Robbie Ray can get back on track, pitching should be good enough with an even slight offensive reset…
