Life Shouldn’t Be This Hard
I was trying to envision an alternate universe where Doval blew a save AND a win in back to back innings. What would have happened? How big would the explosion have been? Would part of me have ended up on the moon? Could my rage have tested the boundaries of sound?
Well, nothing like that happened so I guess we’ll never know……
Doval has a little Armando Benitez in him…
Trivia: Who did the Giants get when they traded away Benitez? I think Flavor gave the guy a good nickname back on the Splash, but I can’t remember it…
Big Sweaty?
I believe Big Sweaty was Tyler Walker…
Doval’s command and composure morph unpredictably. The Doval who pitched the tenth was a different guy than the one who started the ninth. It’s weird. It’s infuriating.
I keep thinking it’s because he wears Zito’s old number. The Giants should only issue #75 to one of the coaches. Do they have a meditation coach?
“think about not thinking about anything. And exhale.”
Breathe through your eyelids
Mona tried to tell me
To stay away from the train line
She said that all the railroad men
Just drink up your blood like wine
And I said, “Oh, I didn’t know that
But then again, there’s only one I’ve met
And he just smoked my eyelids
And punched my cigarette”
yeah 10th was great finished off with killer sliders in dirt. In 9th Marte nailed one he hung after Perdomo had singled after 5th cutter in a row. He was shaking off Bailey a lot. Did throw 29 pitches. Giants don’t have a day off for a week.
striking out Suarez to escape the ninth still tied was huge. That guys already hit 26 HRs.
I know the Razor Ralph Barbarei/and media and fans ran Armando out of town ( hmm Ralph would be all over Doval as well I assume if he didn’t die) but I thought they got some cash and a pitcher Messinger?
He was the flat brim hat guy, right? Don’t remember his nickname.
Yup. With the crooked cap…

Ahhh, Whatta day … Free Baseball all day (and all weekend) on MLB. I’m in heaven. And pleased to hear Blade is in heaven in his new home in a new state. Wishing all Flappers the most glorious and happy Fourth of July!!
On Devers. I think I’ve developed minor injuries from cringing at or protesting loudly against some of his his ABs.

RIP Michael Madsen. Too young.
Sucks. Great actor…
i don’t remember the specific nickname I gave Messenger but it had something to do with looking like a guy who moved refrigerators for a living
That sounds right, Flav…
On this evil day in US history, I turn to things like sports for relief. A Giants win last night, cool! A little dicey at the end, but we’ll take it.
The Fever! The WNBA had their in-season tournament (the in-season tournament thing is stupid, but I digress) and, even with Clark out injured, the Fever won the thing! Defeating the team with the best season record so far, Minnesota.
The WNBA All-Star game is coming up and Clark has the most votes ever for the game. In fact, take the top 30 vote-getters in 2023, add them together, and Clark still got more votes than that this season. The WNBA announced they are adding several more expansion teams in the next few years.
But, sure, Mabrey, knock Clark to the ground on a dead-ball blindside cheapshot, because that’s such a high IQ move.
The WNBA players recently voted Clark the 9th best guard in the WNBA. Lulz. Players who toiled in obscurity until Clark joined the league.
I’m starting to like Pence a little more as a broadcaster. He still needs to be willing to be more critical of the players, but he seems to be trying to get better. I would take him over Estes or Lopez. Krukow is going to retire someday, of course, and these are the guys that are being groomed to replace him. Maybe it will stay as a rotation of analysts. That would probably be OK. Flemming as the #1 TV play-by-play person someday is a little harder to take.
I agree with ya on all that.
Fantastic column in TA on Webb from Baggs and Eno Sarris. Amazing how studious he is at his craft and adjustments he makes from start to start.
that piece is good. Comments are interesting too.
Ha. Giants fans run the gamut
So was Brisbee one on “where the Giants pitchers rank” today.
I’m going to a pool party tomorrow for my daughter’s best friend who’s birthday is on the 4th and it’s her home that has the pool! BBQ catering,fruits/ cheese spreads,Music blazing ,Different Scotch Whiskey 🥃 to sample from her boyfriend who’s a distributor,Johnny Walker, double black, green label and maybe a blue label all different smoke degree taste.
Damm WordPress! Anyway wishing all flappers and families a very Enjoyable Happy 4th of July!!
And WTF we’re having a Drone Laser show instead of fireworks shows just doesn’t feel American 🇺🇸 enough oh well, budget cuts,safety,whatever..
Nice job by the reset boys,2 walks a Ramos double,Lee deep fly ball for sac fly.2-0 go get ‘em Robbie Ray!
Big double for Adames there, brings Yaz home.
very big. Helluva swing on it.
Great tip from bassbaldy earlier about free MLBTV.
Thanks, BB!
Rachel’s pants are Pepitone-level tight…
Ray’s fastball is thing of beauty.
Most of ’em, anyway…
Suarez sure yanked one. Tough out
Ray is still dealing strong 57 pitches thru 6 outstanding.
Both Webb&Ray are automatic locks for the A/S game imo
Ramos out side shot as a reserve, case for Rodriguez&Rogers but probably not..
Devers no not with Othani as the DH, besides he needs the break to get healthy..
Matty remembers how to hold a runner…
Adames & Devers making some noise…
Sorely needed…
Devers knocks in a couple.
That was big . Good for Devers.
Tyler Kepner High Quality Start for Ray. 7 innings 2 runs
#6 already in his 18th start.
Good battle by Devers paid off! That’s a clutch 2RBI hit!
Wow what a play by Wisely&Smith that was gold!
Wisely making bid to stick around after Giants leave Sacramento this weekend and hopefully get couple guys back.
Now if he can only get on base and stay there.
Ray is picking up the tab for Wisely’s steaks on the rest of this road trip.
Make em pay, Adames, make em pay.
Robbie got him. Nice game.
Very nicely done.
Robbie Ray is awesome.
What is this — a complete game, and in more ways than one. Outstanding start by Ray — only 1 walk! — plus good hitting for once and a couple nice plays by Wisely at 3B. Can’t remember the last time Giants had a game like this.
CG Ray well done performance!
Get the split so that’s something!
Giants are now 2-1 with the new Melvin manager extension!
Didn’t know Wotus does PG show. Wonder if he’s commented on Williams’ screw-ups…
Flannery did. didn’t think highly of criticism of Willams from those outside game.
Maybe he should make a list of things that those outside the game are allowed to criticize…
I doubt Wotus or anyone associated with Giants would harp on Williams, publicly.
Flannery lives off the grid down Cal coast when not touring with band. Gave interview in SF Chron to Scott Ostler. He’s literally out there. Ostler usually is too.
Outside the game? Little leaguers know this stuff.
Didn’t John Curtiss pitch for the Giants in the early70s?
Same spelling.
Huh, not same spelling but here’s AI’s answer that popped up:
John Curtiss is a relief pitcher currently with the Arizona Diamondbacks. He previously played for the San Francisco Giants from 1977 to 1979. During his time with the Giants, he was primarily used as a reliever. He lived in Foster City, California while playing for the Giants. The current date is July 3, 2025.
Too fucking funny. That makes him 77 years old.
I guess AI isn’t as smart as it’s cracked up to be.
