This Team Sucks My Balls
The all star break didn’t really do much to rev me up for baseball again. We’ll see what happens if they ever win another game. I’m headed to Oregon for a week, I’ll try to keep the thread changed once a day.

Make sure you get changed once a day. Ba-ha!
At least the Dodgers are disintegrating too…
https://nypost.com/2025/07/20/sports/dodgers-clayton-kershaw-has-glove-throwing-tantrum-cuts-interview-short/
Yeah surging Brewers swept them. Trivino took L yesterday. Pads within 3.5 I think.
Cracks in Dodgers seeming invincibility starting to show this season as pitching staff can’t stay healthy. Snell still hasn’t pitched. Posey knew enough not to re sign Conforto, who is worse this year than last.
freeman got hit on wrist yesterday and left the game. Chapman told Chron he still doesn’t feel right at the plate even after bomb yesterday.
WIth even middling hitting, we’d be in 1st.
This is just like the Niners not firing their ST coach and DC when it was apparent both were terrible. Get rid of Burrell and Williams while there’s still time.
When was the last time the Giants fired or at least reassigned a coach or manager in season? Just not their way and it should be. I wouldn’t count the Kapler thing. Maybe Roberto Kelly?
If Adames and Devers hit commensurate to their contracts these last 60 games, SF’s offense would be middling … assuming the rest of the team’s numbers don’t drop significantly. Since no else is doing anything even close to extraordinary, seems like a safe assumption.
i dug into old SF coaching upheavals a bit. Only really interesting hit was this Google AI sumnary.
“AI Overview
+4
San Francisco Giants replaced Bobby Bonds as coach in 1996
Bobby Bonds served as the hitting coach for the San Francisco Giants from 1993 to 1996. After the Giants finished the 1996 season with a disappointing 68-94 record, Bonds, along with other coaches, were relieved of their duties.
Aftermath
Dusty Baker, who was managing the Giants at the time, remained with the team.
Bobby Bonds was offered another position within the organization, but it is unclear if he accepted a full-time role.
His son, Barry Bonds, then playing for the Giants, expressed his unhappiness with his father’s dismissal and requested to be traded, viewing it as a sign the team didn’t value him. The Giants initially resisted trading Barry, who was a key player. However, he was eventually traded to the New York Yankees in 1974.
Barry Bonds was traded to the Yankees in 1974!!!!! AI sucks.
My search of John Curtis brought about another completely wrong answer.
AI not so intelligent again. Last paragraph is all out of whack!
The words Barry and Bobby probably look identical at the speed of light.
Braves SP Elder has ERA of 5.65 FIP of 5.17 WHIP over 1.5. Score some runs!
Drop this Giants pitching staff onto most any oppo team and that team is probably 12-15 games over .500. Other than Chapman, I would in most cases gladly exchange every single Giants position player for the opposition counterpart. Bailey can’t hit, this framing thing is way overblown and will be more so when the pitch protest system comes in next year
And he allows a ton of passed balls. His shining glory is throwing out runners.
So far, vs. LHPs, Adames, a supposed RH power and RBI guy, is hitting .163 and has an OBP of .227. Wow. Schmitt BA .213, Wilmer .229. The list goes on down the lineup. No wonder this team is virtually a guaranteed loser against LHPs.
No idea if Posey would do it or what return would be, but now would be perfect time to trade Doval. Everyone wants pen help.
I’m down with that. Get an outfielder. Move Rodriguez to closer…
Id do that Willied, Could get a decent return for Doval.Randy Rodriguez is their futooser anyway why not now? His stats are so much better then Doval’s .More K’s less walks( and that’s the one that drives us all crazy with Doval) and RR is 2 years younger at 25.Plus Doval is not striking out hitters like in his better years.Hitters are barreling up his FB/Slider .
The question seems to be how often they can use RR it seems he can’t go back to back all the time are maybe their just real cautious with him , I get that their babying him but when Bomel tells us he’s not available to pitch it irks me, I want a steady closer without a closer by committee and especially not Walker now who’s getting lit up.. And not Rodgers who’s best in his role now 8th inning..
Lee leading off again today vs their righty.
About time Melvin puts Lee back to leadoff where he belongs..
Braves pitcher Elder 3-6 gives up a lot of hits over his IP,teams are hitting .297 against him and HR’s(16) so of course he will probably turn into Cy Young tonight.Birdsong is better but he’s been knocked around himself.Matchup should be interesting with 2 struggling pitchers..
I’m with you about Lee leading off. There was a moment there early in the season where Lee looked like he was gonna hit no matter where he was in the lineup. That didn’t last long. The further down the order BoMel put him, the deeper he slumped. Yeah, let’s keep him top of the order for awhile to see how he fairs. I’m sure the league adjusted to him a bit and that didn’t help but shuffling him around didn’t help either. Let’s set a daily line up ffs!
Good luck to Lee. Regardless of what spot he hits in the lineup, his OB is worse than 5 regulars–Chapman Ramos Yaz Schmitt and Devers. Giants OB as a team is one of worst in all NL, contributing factor imo to how few runs they score. Both hits he had were pop up bloops to LF, first one leading off game landed at feet of LF who never saw it in sun. Maybe BABIP gods on his side now.
I hear you Willedav. All good points you raise. Do you think there are specific factors that contributed to his plummeting numbers? Eg. League adjusting and/or being jerked around in the lineup? I mean, he, Flores & Ramos were raking for the first month or so. Throw in some nice moments from Yaz & Chappy and even Fitz was producing before his rib injury. That all mad e for our pretty spectacular start to 2025.
Ray complained about height of mound, said it was steeper from when he was there before.
so let’s hope yesterday was one off.
I would trade Robbie Ray at the deadline.
Put a couple or three of the top contenders in a bidding war. He’s signed through next season. That should be worth at least a couple of top outfield / infield prospects. Bring up Whisenhunt. This linguini hitting team might, might limp in to a last playoff spot, but is going nowhere even it if does. Posey needs talent. Real talent. They did not pull the trigger mid-season on Bum, Rodon or Snell, and should have done in all cases. This is no different, but the upside in return is way bigger than any of those. Time is of the essence. Ray’s elbow could go again at any time. Do it while his star is high in the sky…
his velo took a nose dive when he got winded in Canada. I don’t think the steep mound accounts for that.
The constant framing shit annoys the fuck out of me. Seems like it’s almost every pitch now. In hockey, deceiving the referee (usually by embellishing a tripping penalty) gets you an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty…
Yeah, agreed here. It is so constant I think even the umps expect it. Might even work against the pitcher these days.
Lee-Elder matchup to start the game.
Time for Birdie to fly back to Sac…
Well here we go again:Birds walks the 1st 3 batters and Ozuna cleans house with a 3 run double ugly shit , make that 4 walks now out of 5 batters!!And now he’s gone after hitting a batter! Wow back to the pen? are Sac?
He’s got to get sent down. First, to fix whatever is wrong in his head. Second, they’ve got to open a roster spot to cover with another pitcher — this game is now a 9 inning pen game, that blows the pen rotations for the rest of the week.
tweety sucks balls.

End of first.
5-1 Braves.
What is that, about a 95% chance of a loss ?
Bird shot.
Birdsong has been horrible since that idiotic 2-out first inning revenge HPB against the Marlins. The subsequent 3-run bomb shocked and damaged his fragile young psyche. S. Torres level malfeasance.
That’s nonsense of course, but I fucking hated that call to drill the Miami batter.
Birdsong has redefined “a walk in the park.” Don’t know whether to laugh or cry but I’ve seen this bad movie before.
More sacrifice fly efficiency, bravo.
Normally I would say ballgame already but this Elderberry Wine dude is not very good.So maybe they can string the Imaginary hits together?
Heliot’s Daily Doozy
Ramos.
Another WTF is he doing ?
Vamos has used that shitty lob since he came up. A runner stretched a single to a double because of it two seasons back. No fucking excuse. Lucky escape.
Gawd as much as I can get behind Ramos and his bat potential he’s a freaking HACK with the glove. That was just an inexcusable lollipop throw ferchrissakes..
Were I the manager, I’d sit Ramos a game. He needs to know this nonchalant defense bullshit is unacceptable.
I hate to keep harping on fundamental stuff, but for fuck’s sake, Ramos is entering glue-head territory. He doesn’t run out grounders, lolly gags throws, misplays flyballs, on and on, the crap continues. He isn’t even hitting to make up for the mediocre defense.
Cause he’s fat, which usually goes with lazy…
And naturally when you’re playing poorly in the field, even on a play where you do things right, what’s noticeable is a shortcoming. Acuna just adds to the humiliation.
Make that a 99% chance of losing this one.
Even though the Gyros are above .500 and still technically in the WC hunt after this mess ends, I’m almost to the point of hoping they crater before the deadline. I want them sellers. This listless, boring-ass team is going nowhere. Sell some talent that isn’t going to stay, get some real players. Stock the high minors with real prospects who can hit, field and run in 2026-27.
Well when Acuna scores from first fucking base on a 3 hopper up the middle it’s so fucking embarrassing 🙈 Lee hits Adames not to much steam and Acuna just never stopped running on that play even his 3rd base coach had the stop sign up.
They keep this keystone kops krap up and its time at season end for Melvin to get the boot along with his merry band of ex-Giants coaches. They can eat his 1-year extension. A team can be lousy, but you can’t be careless and lazy and witless while being lousy…
Flemmig is so full of shit I can’t stand him!
Flem flam man saying I think Devers could be a really good 1B , yeah right he can’t even be healthy enough to run the bases and you want him out there in the field as well? Smith&Flores are better than he would be out there? And what are you gaining just a Smith/Flores Platoon at DH??
It’s beyond a comedy now! All the outfielders need to be shipped to Sac and work on fucking fundamentals !!
More outfield “I’ve got it, U take it” Keystone Kops mayhem on a can o’ corn fly. If I’m Walker, I’d probably like to punch somebody for giving me a BS earned run.
What an embarrassment this game has been…
Maybe having a 3 language speaking outfield is not a good thing?
In any language, that’s a pop fly to medium deep left center, more on the center side, that’s Li’s ball. Why is Ramos even in the near vicinity to clutter this up? I blame him more than Li, but Li should have taken charge. That cannot happen in the major leagues. Is anybody coaching these guys?
apparently not. They’ll trade Ray and Doval in a week and both will have revivals with their new teams.
Looks like Adames might enjoy being in. Atlanta.
Outhitting em but not outscoring em. Sounds familiar…
like I said, I’d busters answer to this run I g disaster is to let the coach g staff play out the string, his fu king ass should be on the line.
ooooh. Clock violation ball4!
fun with phone blogging
It’s ok.
Your text was more understandable than Doval’s pitching …
Doval’s new manager next week will tell him if you commit a clock violation you’ll be on a bus to aaa before the game ends.
Doval with more brain mush.
Clock violation for ball four. Now, an obvious balk.
WTF ?
That sucked.
There it is. The pop up from Yazzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.
12 to 8 in hits.
He might as well wield a whiffle bat. What does he have, fewer than 10 RBIs since mid-May or some crap like that? Unreal how bad this outfield is…
Finalist for worst game of the season.
If Melvin doesn’t chew some ass in that clubhouse after this debacle, then he doesn’t deserve to be manager…
Aurilia ripping the team.
Melvin shouldn’t last the week if this road trip ends 0-6.
With bad starts from all the starters, the wins are gone.
Time to make some radical moves. Bring up Luciano, Encarnacion. Cut somebody. Trade somebody. Make a shocking move. Whatever. At this point, I’d even considering seeing friggin’ Meckler up here. Wake this comatose team up…
The shine of Jung Hoo Lee is sure dimming fast. Jesus. That ball nearly hit his foot.
A classic, LIVE yet! Kick-ass band!!
I admit that out of Harrison or Birdsong, I thought Birdie would be better, letting Kyle go was no big deal. I don’t know what’s wrong with these guys. Body language is just droopy. Floppy. Birdie has it, Doval has it, Ramos has it, Matos too, they just don’t seem focused, sharp, and energetic. Adames looks like the only one who’s trying. Can’t fire the whole roster, but firing coaches can fire up the players. That extension of Melvin was just stooooopid….
Hey, it worked before: “They’re slip sliding’ away.” There. A bounce-back is assured!
From a Giants page:
Adames: “I feel like in the first half, we were grinders. It feels like lately, the energy’s not there …. It feels like lately, we’ve fallen off the bus. It’s just not us”.
“That’s a telling quote from Adames. When Willy’s performance was terrible, he was still the first guy out of the dugout to cheer his teammates on. Now that he’s on fire, the others are not returning the favor. The team needs a spark big time.”
Major indictment of MoTel 6.
Buster can’t just sit and wait for things to change
