Overcoming Bitchiness
There are bitches. And then those bitches each have a bitch. And that bitch’s name is Kyle Freeland. Goddamn what a pussy. Devers doesn’t look at him, doesn’t ever stop after he hits the ball. He fucking looked at it. HE LOOKED AT IT! lol.
I am going to be irritated if Chapman and Adames get days. I like that they had Devers’ back but Freeland was walking away with the ump at that point. Running out there and shoving him was not smart.
Sad to hear George Raveling passed at age 88. First black coach in Pac 8 at that time for Wazzu, and first in ACC as an assistant at Maryland for Lefty Driesell. Coached USC and later did some games for network that did Conference games, and was really funny as well as insightful. Air Jordans are still a thing and he helped steer his Airness to Nike. RIP
Ex girlfriend I dated back in the early 80s worked for him in Washington State. Said he was an outstanding person! She only left the job (and State to move to CA) because of a divorce.

“the Alliance for Creativity and Entertainment (ACE) — a coalition of 50 media and entertainment organisations including Amazon, Apple TV+, Netflix and Paramount —”
creativity is now a euphemism for monopoly hoarding. ChatGPT always tells me to wait, because “lots of people are creating right now.” The free version also caps my daily “creation limit.”
google’s minor wrist slap antitrust remedy ruling yesterday won’t help.
Yeah and with more games streamed across pro sports everywhere and Roku this will only get worse. I’ve seen in game time threads on Valks games where locals in East Bay are blacked out by one service or another (Amazon Prime, Fubo etc.) of televised game being played in SF. why make it more difficult and expensive to watch fav sports teams?
It has never been a better time to be a (corporate) person. Low corporate tax rates, monopolies encouraged, and no more pesky regulations. I mean really. WIth DirecTV I NEEDED 200 Shark vaccuum channels. On Hulu, I get my sports but once again, things I want to watch are on other channels and they cost. Plus it’s the worst interface known to man.
the years before the Sherman act were probably better for capitalists and their companies. The rise of labor unions in the wake of int’l revolution and economic depression added a whole new front to the war.
Fear of collective union political clout is one reason the capitalists and their lawmakers denied broad first amendment rights to corporations and associations in the USA. First, they had to neutralize the unions. Took about forty fifty years post ww II to get that done. Then, voila: Citizens United. The majority opinion in the case actually says hey, fairs fair and this new rule applies to labor unions too (now that we’ve fucked them to death).
the gag order on ass’nal first amendment rights when collectivized workers had potential clout always reminded me of the laws in the cotton states that banned slaves from owning horns or drums. Owners feared coordinated uprisings with long distance African style communication. Ultimately, that’s why delta blues featured only guitar and harp and stomping and slapping and moaning and groaning.
Frenchified new orleans was always different. I think Black people played drums in Congo square from day one. Horns were ok too. Apparently.
Have you ever read the Ned Sublette history of Cuban music? I think I once linked to an interview with him here. Anyway, seems right up your alley.
I haven’t but I will. Coincidentally I stumbled across this modest but v interesting piece after piquing my own curiosity about Nola. The author cites Sublette on Cuba.
thx
Quite an ending to that particular fragment of his . . . .
the blog author, doing his best for the cadre, clearly admires Sublette ‘s superiority. Fascinating guy. .
Thanks for posting that.
One day it’ll be looked back on with the nostalgia the studio system enjoys. They should have named it streamwest to throw them off the trail.
WAPO ran an article recently comparing AI services. Google’s AI mode won out among the librarians testing them. The pace at which the models adapt and how they are packaged could make those kind of rankings sillier than usual.
lol . . . No wonder I had to switch to another illegal streaming site.
I still haven’t figured out if Friday night Chief game is free on regular youtube…
I click on YT links, forget to log into my YouTube premium account and then suffer the ads until I realize I don’t have to.

wow that sounds interesting. Jackie Wilson was one of my early heroes of musicy like Chuck Berr, from seeing them on Bandstand and Dick Clark probably.
I’d like to check out Sublette history of Cuban music. You can still find some of the original recordings from Arsenio Rodriguez and others like Miguelito cuni doing live stuff on YT, fascinating. didn’t realize that many hits I heard for first time from tito Puente or Eddie Palmieri were originally done earlier by Cuban artists. Sometimes in comments sections the earlier versions get mentioned by those in the know.
It’s got a lot of breadth. A nicely condensed package is the Cuba: I am Time box set, which comes with a cool ~100 page booklet.

just watched a Neil young doc on his first 10 years and Christgau is all over that one.
Well, give the guy a break, he had a bad day as an inconsistent lefty pitching for Colorado on a cobbled together team of marginal big leaguers a n d he just gave up a hypersonic missile shot that was gone before anyone knew it..poor bastard was abused & annoyed.
Chappy & Adames acted appropriately in support of their teammate.
Bitch Freeland starts the whole thing and then gets no days. Unreal.
Total BS. I don’t get going off after 2 run HR in first inning at freaking Coors. Gad we all remember games Giants used to lose here 14-12 or something, usually thanks to Arenado.
Rox have gotten crushed there all year–they’re 22-49 there and have given up 500+ runs.
When you think about the pushing and shoving after plays in every football game, treating baseball players with some kind of legalistic, zero tolerance policy looks a little absurd.
Different game –cultures are not even remotely close .
Some “fans” maybe better suited to watch pro wrestling or Hockey if the interest is in ignorant playground bullshit confrontations & loud talking.
It’s not strictly about the culture. If I push and slap someone on the street, technically I have committed assault. The level of violent contact that plays out within the rules of the game is certainly different. But I see little reason for one sport to treat similar acts differently outside of those boundaries.
Chappy bomb!
clear rules are ok. Do not deliberately touch an umpire during a serious game discussion. Do not argue a balk. I’ve heard of many others but I don’t find all of them in mlb rules 8.01-.02. Some of that legendary umpire punctilio is as hazy as the nonexistent unwritten “rule” Freeland tried to invoke.
Rule 8.01(c) sort of surprised me. Guess it’s necessary: “Each umpire has authority to rule on any point not specifically covered by these rules .”
Matos has been practicing his slide
between the bases
Bad baserunning alert!
Gilbert walks!
Ray unraveling
Ramos throwing to 2nd on the 3rd out.
who didnt see that coming?
unrayvelling even more.
All after the goddamn blown strike 3.
this is all on the missed k.
My doomsaying off by one night. So fucking frustrating.
Bailey gets Ray off the hook after young guys wait out walks
Ramos with another RISP hit. Ray could still get W.
Nah Peguero was pitcher of record.
Getting them runs back.
Schmitt standing thee as the ball goes theough
2nd Chappy bomb!
Great AB to pick up Adames. Stay hot Chapman!
Thank goodness for the appeals process.
Bombs away baby!!!
was that DJs son they just showed?
damn. Did not see that coming!!!
Happie chappie
Not sure there is one, but a prop bet 2 weeks ago that would have the Giants with the longest streak of games in MLB with a homer (now 2 clear of 2nd best) would have won you a LOT of money! Go Giants!
gillie!!! Gotta love the kid. A fighting hydrant.
Gil the Thrill!!!
Baggs had fun column on Gilbert in TA. As Schmitt said, “he’s a nut” but teammates love the guy
Meanwhile in Houston, Doval has given up a run each on a balk and a wild pitch in an ugly 8th for Yanks.
Helsley got ripped again today, too. 6 more outs and it’s 4 games.
Flemming with the Bram Stoker reference. That was impressive!
for baseball
speaking of sucking , get Brubaker out of there.
Giants need to give up the rally-killing HR.
That was tough, but put it in the W column.
Sweeeep! Onto St. Lou.
Record now 71-69. Make you think of anything, WillieD?
boy that second number sure does.
The Valkyries defeated the defending champs NY Liberty, and moved up to the 6th seed, with a few games left in the regular season.
The Cardinals had sparse crowds vs. the A’s. Probably will have bigger crowds vs. the Giants. The Cardinal fans have had enough of the ’25 season.
I expect an influx of Giants fans in the ballpark.
