long baggs piece today about Bailey’s pitch framing prowess and catcher’s mitt preferences. Whew. But toward the end this speculation about his approach to the automated zone system next season:
“Bailey, who is not in favor of any version of an automated zone, has suggested he could adjust elements of his receiving to take advantage of new rules, perhaps even poorly framing a strike on purpose to fool an opposing batter into challenging it.”
well we’ll see. I bet batters will piss off managers at a very high rate, wasting challenges, with or without Bailey’s level of legerdemain.
The Bochy’s, on 4 game winning streak, are Mets next opponent, back in NYC with deGrom on mound tonight. Texas is 2 back of AL West leaders M’s and Stros and still in thick WC hunt themselves. Phils sure did their part.
Hopefully this will be a fun series, been awhile since there were meaningful games between these two.
Giants hitting bound for a cool spell meeting Dodgers starting pitching that now looks as crazy formidable as promised pre-season. There’s no point in dreading this, but I do. Please, no Conforto heroics.
per B/R schedule Dogs are 29-32 btw July August and now, with 4-5 record in September. Minus Will Smith and .901 OPS they haven’t been as fearsome offense; all I read was day to day with hand injury. Worried about Muncy or some other bottom order guy coming alive. Up to Giants pitching to hold them down and keep Giants in game.

I wondered if Roberts had effed up not pinch running for Rortvedt in 10th at 2b but turns out Dogs didn’t have another backup C. they had called one up last week, Chuckie Robinson, but sent him back down for Muncy. So Roberts was stuck.
was kinda odd that in post game Britt said something to McCray about being part of the team, as he’s hardly played at all except for late game D replacement. But what a play he did make.
