A Place To Talk About Giants Baseball

Good Bye 2025

Posted in Uncategorized by Flavor on September 28, 2025

And finally it is here. Number One Hundred and Sixty Two. It has been a long road. One that I’m not really interested in traveling again.

But it’s a beautiful day and I get to go to the yard so everything is perfect. Just checked StubHub, all the tickets available are significantly less than the $160 each we paid for ours.

If the Giants are winning by a run in the 9th and they bring Ryan Walker in there’s a chance I’ll storm the field and wring his chicken neck. They need to be up by 9 runs or more for Walker to be allowed onto the field.

I’ll keep the Flap humming through the post season then I’ll shut her down for the Winter and then…you know the drill.

Should be a fun day for you, get ya a sheboygan brat with grilled onions, an ice cold beer and enjoy. I’ll be watching for your foul ball catch.

Thanks Winder. Expecting a lot of rain, but right now it’s looking like we’ll luck out where we’re at. Are you on the East Coast?

        Yeah, Pensacola

Hell ya, y’all on the Gulf Coast have been getting a lot of hits the last few years. You know what’s it like being glued to NHC and Mikes weather pages.

Only been here for a little over a year but the first two weeks I was here there were two very destructive hurricanes just far enough away that all we got was some wind and a lot of rain.

You still have to prep for them, and those outer bands can still reck havoc. Hang in there, it’s still the season.

Was running man to man D drill at practice yesterday with 8th grade boys. we were short 1 to go 4 x 4 in half court so I ran (um as little as possible) with them for 15 minutes or so. Talk about Old and In the Way.

Just stand in the corner and wait for a pass. They’ll think you’re an NBA player…

Yeah Loo I hate that BS.

Masanori Murakami to appear Sunday Oct. 5 in Mill Valley in support of film “Diamond Diplomacy” about American connection to Japanese baseball. Didn’t Lefty O’Doul have something to do with popularizing sport over there after tour?

Has a team ever had 2 rookies break in the same season like Rice and Lynn 50 years ago? It’s insane. I wonder if old Sox fans knew this was coming…

Willie, consider EHIIT and HIIT (Extended High-Intensity Interval Training – 20 minute anaerobic weight lifting training; and, HIIT High-Intensity Interval Training – 10 minute stationary bike session, set with 2 20 second high resistance intensity periods). I trade off doing these each day, with 6 sessions total, taking off one day a week. If you are interested, I can send you 2 videos that explain each one.

Basically, us “old” guys have zero time (or at least I do) for spending 1-2 hours in a gym. Equally important, as was the case with me, particularly the last 7-8 months, “Father Time” can kick your ass so much faster at our age.

Lastly, I am back to intermittent fasting since a week ago, with 20:4 the first 5 days; and, 19:5 the last 2 days. Basically, you’re fine with 16:8, as this is where you get the benefit of Ketosis and autophagy (“body eating itself,” i.e., cell renewal/rejuvenation; and, some medical experts thinking that it possibly can prevent cancer, although not proven). Like I said, give me a shout, if you’re interested . . . 70+ is the new 50 (maybe 40 lqtm).

If SF wins today and the Mets and Reds both lose, the Giants will have missed the playoffs by two games.

Yeah, Willie, O’Doul had a huge part in the rapid growth of baseball’s popularity in Japan. If baseball’s Hall of Fame was like other sports’ Hall of Fames, and took more into account than a player’s pro career, there would be a good case to be made for O’Doul being in the Hall of Fame. And he had a nice pro career. .316 career BA, OPS over .900.

    • zumiee's avatar zumiee said, on September 28, 2025 at 5:45 pm

He was a player on the Giants 1933 team that won the World Series. He batted one time in that Series: he singled to drive in two runs, and eventually scored himself.

The Fever defeated the Aces to tie their ‘best of five’ Series at 2-2. Game 5 is in Las Vegas.

The Minnesota head coach got suspended one game for having an epic meltdown towards the refs at the end of Game 3 in their series with Phoenix. I’m not a fan of Coach Reeve, She’s the one that left Clark off of the Olympic team.
