A Place To Talk About Giants Baseball

Post Season Begins Without Us Again

Posted in Uncategorized by Flavor on October 1, 2025

Missed all those games. The Skubal line looked very “lincecum-esque”. Reds are probably overmatched, aye?

I know everyone is worried about Ally Kat but I’m not really sure how to find out about him short of driving by his house and knocking on the door. And that’s not really Big Flavor’s modus operandi. I’m more stealth than that.

There’s no obit’s out there for him if that does anything for ya.

Cubs pen got 14 outs/0 hits or walks to hold off Padres. That’s how you beat them…hope Posey was watching.

Wonder if Buster already has his new manager or if he’s gonna do a big search with interviews, etc. Braves just kicked their manager upstairs if I heard right…

Hoping they go outside the team to find someone. A name being floated around is our old backup (whom i don’t really remember) Nick Hundley.

He worked with Bochy in Texas.

Fucking Vogt worked out pretty good for Cleve. Why not?

      Just got pinged by AK.

He’s having login issues with wordpress.

AK hasn’t posted on my site for a while either. 8/23 is the last. I send him an email.

Hey Unc! Good job regarding AK’s location . . . For whatever reason, I forgot about everyone having issues (at one point or another) about WP log in issues. Should have known that after I located Giant Head and he said the same thing. Myself, snarrk, etc. – we have all had issues with this &$%@ WP program.

Anyway, AK likely saw all the messages of love and concern, so he must like that. 🙂

In our age group, I guess the first thought is to think the worst. You get so used to hearing it, that you almost expect it. Good news is far more uncommon and surprising…

I told him a couple things to try so hopefully he gets back in.

The 49ers crack medical staff has outdone themselves bringing Purdy back too early as he is out vs the Rams.

By all means, let’s rush him back for the much less important non-division non-conference game against the Jags, and make sure he’s out for the all-important divisional game.

This season is already in jeopardy.

    • snarkk's avatar snarkk said, on October 1, 2025 at 1:44 pm

I was thinking the same thing, BEFORE the Jags game. Seemed really a short time healing, given all I heard about how turf toe takes quite a while to improve. Shanny may have just screwed Purdy for half or more of the season. Anyway, I thought Jones looked more than capable in his two games, as long as he can walk. Maybe the Niners medicos took the same diagnostic classes in med school as the old Giants medicos? I know injuries happen in the NFL, it’s a given. But, the Niners ALWAYS seem to have extraordinary injury volume. I don’t believe in coincidences, there must be something they do or don’t do compared to other teams that is contributory…

    • unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck said, on October 1, 2025 at 2:05 pm

Lots of people felt that way. I mean it’s pretty obvious. But these guys have their own agenda apparently.

Kittle’s injury especially pisses me off as it was a non-contact injury. As in he wasn’t fully stretch out and ready to play.

It annoys the shit out of me that I can come up with decisions that would help the team that they just don’t make.

MacDog can tell you all about NY Giant injuries from their shitty turf. Been going on for years now…

Mason Miller, wow. K’d 11 straight batters going back to regular season. 103 plus slider.

    • unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck said, on October 1, 2025 at 4:16 pm

Yeah, that was one of the things I told him.

  8. blade3colorado's avatar blade3colorado said, on October 1, 2025 at 4:29 pm

Posey more or less, said that the Giants are not hiring Bochy as manager, saying, “. . . the door’s always open for some sort of role. But the way I think things are coming into picture in my mind, with where we want to go next, I don’t see us going with Boch.”

Just my experience with WP, but it has everything to do with logging in and the frequency of logging in WP now requires. Up until 2 years ago, maybe longer, I never had to log in. Now, I have to log in frequently (at least weekly) and worse, there are now 2 log-in requirements, one for the Flap and one for WP. The experience on the phone is even worse versus logging in on a PC.

I think the reason WP policy has changed is due to security fears – they’re afraid of WP members being hacked. Consequently, they have tightened up log in requirements.

    • xoot's avatar xoot said, on October 2, 2025 at 7:08 am

come on. He was so fucked up he went to the ER and under similar circumstances who among us wouldn’t be attracted to a naked woman writhing on a nearby gurney? He didn’t mean to do it but he meant what he did. The old story.

    • willedav's avatar willedav said, on October 2, 2025 at 8:46 am

yeah I think Kat might have come up with that one . Win one for the Groper.

interesting piece on Desean Jackson. Much background about the coaching he received when young. No mention of Cal. Consistent with what my son heard from a HS classmate back then, son of a Cal assistant coach who hated Jackson. Apparently. I still remember the way as a kid he single handedly torched Tennessee.

I was able to read this with no paywall interference but looks like that access vanished. Sorry. Strange article by wapo’s sports dei guy. It begins : “DeSean Jackson sits at his desk, a gray-and-white Delaware State beanie stretched over his shoulder-length dreadlocks. Dark designer shades cover his eyes, perhaps to avoid the glare from the diamond-encrusted gold chains around his neck.”

      • unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck said, on October 2, 2025 at 3:55 pm

I know. I STILL wanted him. He’s doing great back on the Chargers. Pearsall was doing fine till he got hurt. The whole fucking team is banged up.

Couldn’t remember his name so I looked it up — Chad Gaudin. Played here for one season in 2013.

Just saw a 2025 gritty, crime film, called “Caught Stealing,” which features the main character as a young Giants fan, whom fucked up his future MLB draft status (he was hoping to be drafted 15th by the Giants in the 1st round) . . . Fast forward to the main plot, with him againt the Russian mafia. Mac and Loo wouild recognize East Village, Avenue A (Double Down Saloon renamed Paul’s Bar), China Town, Brighton Beach, Flushing Meadows Corona Park, etc., where the film was shot.

Highly rated movie per Rotten Tomatoes. I liked it!

    • xoot's avatar xoot said, on October 2, 2025 at 4:06 pm

On my watch list. Sounds great. James also mentioned it. I think the main characters name Hank Thompson is borrowed from the famously talented and troubled early 1950s Giants 3B/OF. Be a good movie to watch with my son, now that I think of it.

Tremendous catch by Ryan McMahon as he tumbles into BoSox dugout. Schlitt through 8 with 4-0 lead

would’ve been fun to see pitching failures so bad Doval and Harrison got in. Well, maybe next series for Doval. I don’t know how the yanks 3B flipped into the Sox dugout like that and hopped up unscathed.

I don’t know why Shanahan is such a genius. Constantly calls dive plays up the butt when he has 1st and goal inside the 5, until he gets stuffed and has to kick a field goal. Still red zone futility….
