A Place To Talk About Giants Baseball

Post Season Rolls On

Nice to see the Yankees come back and get one. I bet that made George happy up in heaven.

Who’s worried about the Niners in Tampa? #metoo. That one seems like an L waiting to happen. I couldn’t believe how good Baker Mayfield looked in Seattle.

It’s funny, we talk about how much coaching matters or doesn’t matter in baseball. But when it comes to being an NFL QB I’m not sure if there’s anything that matters more than a coach. Think about it. Look at what Mac is doing in SF. Or Baker after he got out of Cleveland. Darnold with us a few years ago. Daniel Jones in Indy right now.

Yeah, coaching truly matters even when there star players involved. I don’t know if it’s some sort of sixth sense or not but I know the game keeps evolving and you have to know when to be creative and how to use your players. I think serious coaches should spend time playing chess.

I have to give Shanny mucho credit for going quick-pass heavy . THe Rams were slow to adjust.

BUT we should have been ahead 28-14 instead of 20-14.

Shanny runs on 1st an goal ALL THE TIME.

On the first 2 drives, Shanny threw on 1st down (TD) and 2nd down (TD).

The drive to close the half, Shanny gave a down away. With 18 seconds left and a 1st down on the Rams 27, Shanny could have called timeout. Instead he ran a play to spike the ball and squandered 4 seconds AND a down.

We go incomplete, and run the ball to set up the FG.

2nd half saw the same inept play calling inside the 10. Run, run, Jones pounded.

Niners offense controlled football for 40 minutes vs. 26 for Rams. They scored early and late including game winning FG drive and ran 83 plays vs. 64 for Rams. Problem was Saleh inability to slow down Stafford who got 378 yards passing and Rams with 456 overall.

Mayfield is rolling right now so hopefully D can be better.

Red Zone!!!!!!!!! 2 TDs, 4 FGs.

Why can’t this coach get us in the end zone?

Why does he ALWAYS run on 1st and goal?

The 3rd quarter we had 1st and goal on the 3.

1st down run up the middle – CMC 1 yard.
2nd down run u[ the middle – Juice -1 yard
3rd down Jones nearly killed because
    a) our line stinks
    b) EVERYONE KNEW we were gonna pass

We have followed this script about 95% of the time at 1st and goal. At some point in thew future Shanahan has to realize we don;t have a strong enough line to push anyone around inside the 5.

And yeah, as hard as the Rams game was, I think we are in for a tougher challenge in Tampa Bay.

Rough outing for Doval top 8 vs. Jays. Trailing 4-1, gives up ground ball past 3b for double, deep drive to RF to advance runner to 3b then rbi bloop single to Myles Straw. then HBP and that’s it. Looked up regular season numbers as a Yank: 4.82 ERA 18.2 innings 19 hits 11 BBs.

“It is tough to watch Clayton Kershaw struggle like this.” No, it’s not.
