A Place To Talk About Giants Baseball

Trying To Stop A Steamroller

Posted in Uncategorized by Flavor on October 15, 2025

Dodgers kinda reminding me of the Warriors on a couple of their championship runs—just kind of bide their time in the regular season only to turn it on when it matters most in the post season. They look pretty good right now. But a Seattle upset would be oh so sweet…..

Pitching…pitching…pitching. Snell, Yamamoto, Ohtani, Glasgow. I trust Buster is paying attention.

Cease, Gallen, Flaherty. Each 30 years old. Current free agents or with player opt out. Might look good in orange and black. We need at least two additions to starting rotation.

Yes hopefully Posey paying attention to what has happened to high scoring teams in playoffs being shut down by good pitching.

In TA Baggs says Posey has talked to Hyde among others.

I didn’t expect this from Snell.

Wow! Very nice of Snell to give credit where credit is due! Thanks for sharing Xoot!

      Thanks xoot, very cool.

Webb is up for gold glove, as is Bailey.

3 finalists at each position. So Webb and Bailey both in contention.

Kinda baffling for Bailey as he has so many passed balls.

Framing and throwing out runners is great and all, but the passed balls are numerous.

That’s pretty cool. I’m bummed we didn’t even try to sign him or Gasman.

Both seemed to really like being here.

      The more you don’t know.

Snell? the guy who refused to pitch meaningless end of season game last year, unlike Webb this year? He’s Boras guy who couldn’t wait to exercise opt out and chase FA deal (5/$180), after throwing 24 innings in first 3 months of 2 year $62 mil contract.

unlike Verlander this year, as well.

Seriously, AK? Why sign guys if the intent is to only improve their worth and let them go? As Farhan proved over and over, it’s no way to build a team.

Gasman was more of a deal with me as he was eminently signable. Snell was gonna be a ginormous deal. I get why they didn’t go that route.

How does a pitcher get on the short list for a Gold Glove? Actually having picked up at least one bunt and throwing the batter out? Making a play on a grounder without throwing the ball into the stands or falling down and spraining his own ankle? The bar has to be fairly low…

    Steals againsst?

    • willedav's avatar willedav said, on October 16, 2025 at 10:18 am

Good point Chuck. Webb improved lot per B/R, allowing only 9 SBs in 16 attempts vs. 41/50 in 2 years before. Maybe it’s due to paying more attention to runners and unload time to plate, idk. He’s also only made 4 errors in last 4 years. As many ground balls that are hit off him fielding his position is important.

Jim Kaat won 16 GGs. I think it just became a voting habit…

Dodgers just absolutely shutting down the Brewers offense.

    • unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck said, on October 16, 2025 at 8:30 pm

Shit, as anemic as our offense is, I think we woulda done better than 3 runs in 3 games.

It sure seems like Jays & M’s are playing to decide who’ll finish as World Series runner-up.

Based only on the stuff I hear on sports talk radio, there will very likely be no baseball in 2027 which should have a huge impact on how teams treat the upcoming off season…

Hear lot of that too and wonder how it will affect FA market-lock out means no one gets paid, right? Owners want some kind of cap, players diametrically opposed.

Loo’s right . . . Actually, in a way, I am ecstatic if it means that the MLB goes to an NFL or NBA type salary cap, where you don’t have the same old rich teams (e.g., Yankees, Dodgers) ruling the roost. Fuck the players union . . . Tired of them bitches.

Cool Snell video! Of course it would have been better if logan had kept his thoughts to himself:)

What we really need is a closer that can handle the pressure and not be too much of a whack job. Pretty sure Buster knows all about good pitching as he had some of the best his first few years. Just make me sick the Dodgers are playing so good.
