A Place To Talk About Giants Baseball

Another Surprising Win

Posted in Uncategorized by Flavor on October 20, 2025

Once again the Niners stepped up and showed me something. A defense missing it’s best players going against probably the best running back in the league. I was shocked to see them as 1.5 point favorites. But they got it done and while this team has too many injuries and holes to fill to get excited about in January I am damn proud of how hard they play. As a fan that’s about all you can ask for from your guys.

Jays have outhit M’s so far. 25 XBHs to 16, .263 BA vs. .218. Other than Naylor and Raleigh M’s hitters haven’t done much. What happened to Arozarena?

I’d love to see Vlad outhit ohtani if that’s the WS.

      That’d be ok too.

On MCC site there is post by Gianator linking 2 separate fangraphs columns on Vitello and Tennessee program. One entitled “the Giants are circling the most interesting managerial hire in decades” by M. Bauman Oct 20 and the other is older profile from July of UT baseball.

Column by Brady Klopfer entitled ” Monday BP: will the Giants officially hire Tony Vitello today?”

I thought MLB didn’t allow major announcements during the WS. Did that change or am I even remembering that right?

I think what I read is they discourage it. Read somewhere that maybe with off days coming up (no WS games til Friday) Giants might announce hiring if it’s final. Vitello contract pays him $3mil per through 2029 plus he’d owe school $3mil for a buyout of deal.

Thanks Willie, I wasn’t sure how it worked.

Any other year, I’d probably be rooting for Seattle to get to the WS for the 1st time ever. Not sure LA is stoppable by any team, but I think the Jays would have the better chance of it, so I’m hoping for that. And yeah Xoot, Vlad is having a “wow” post-season, would love to see that match up in the WS.

Pounding the zone?!? LOL, fear of watching strike 3 had the Mariners hacking at pitches well out of the zone. Go, Canada!

Good. Jays have a chance. Could be a good Series.

      And then I woke up…..

Vitello. No clue who he is except my brief read in media. That’s more than I knew about Kappler. At least he’s an outsider, way outside. That’s what I asked for.

If it happens, it could be a genius move, or a Giant bust — and / or it means Buster is taking over field managing the team via conduit…

    Mariners gagged.

Very predictable after they came back home up 2-0 and promptly dropped the first one in Seattle. Toronto can flat hit, lotsa contact, good power. They may give the Doghairs a tussle. Hope so. An LA loss of the WSeries would be quite nice…
