Line Up
Finally, we see a lefty. How many righties have we seen in the last 2 weeks? It seems like all of them. I’ve been looking forward to seeing what Torres would do against lefties with regular playing time against them…..Bagggs says “weather permitting”. Anyone got a weather report? How bad is it?
RF Torres
2B F Sanchez
3B Sandoval
SS Uribe
LF Huff
1B Posey
CF Rowand
C Whiteside
P J Sanchez
It is humid as hell here in DC at the Nats-Reds game.
Must be similar in Pittsburgh which Timmy may have a hot and humid game Sunday. Love the new site and email updates.
K&K expects a “short” delay. No threat of postponement. They’ll get it in.
I’ve been out and about of late, but wanted to commend Flav on his great new site. Good job Flav!
Also, I want to acknowledge Paul’s outstanding POTD . . . Outstanding post Paul! One more thing about saying your “wrong” versus “sorry” . . . There is no wriggle room in the word “wrong.” It is unequivocal in meaning. Conversely, “sorry” has many connotations, e.g., “I’m sorry I got caught with my hand in the cookie jar.” Moreover, usually the type of “sorry” apologies we hear now-a-days are followed by “yeah but.” In short, an excuse . . . Again, saying you are “wrong” doesn’t leave any room for mis-understanding.
Props to both Joyce and (especially) Gallaraga for showing us how to make a proper amends and forgiveness (respectfully). They both showed humility and as Paul pointed out, a lesson for all of us.
Posey and Huff are swapped.
Thanks, BladeCubed. BTW, you are on fire in the fantasy league.
GiantHead, wanna meet Tuesday at the Strasburg debut?
lets hope they get this game in !
“Finally, we see a lefty….”
Yeah, been forever since the last game they played, Flavor. Jeff Francis? Ring a bell?
McGwire’s wife had triplets. Talk about human growth hormone! Serves him right, having triplets at this late date. FEEDING TIME, MARKIE! Again! Redux! Reprise!
Karma?
My brother goes to Detroit often for business and has witnessed Ozzie Guillen holding court in the hotel lobby, as a visiting manager, numerous times. Ozzie has lots of Yogi-type lines: “I sleep like a baby. I wake up every night at 2 o’clock, crying.” Ba-rrrump.
First pitch slated for 7:00
Dennis, 7? Ferfecksake, it’s 9feckin35 already! Whodya like in the Belmont?
who the freak is Bautista (Toronto) w/ 18 HRs? Fidel Castro’s predecessor?
Who would happen to know the most common surname in MLB? Do know of one shared by no fewer than 9 players.
Could be a big day for “New York Nick” tomorrow. The Zito/Zito exacta looms large. I like the “other” Zito, Fly Down to mow’em all down in the 142nd running of “The Test of Champions,” better known as the Belmont Stakes.
But don’t quote me on that.
I was referring to the number of righties we’ve seen over the last few weeks compared to the number of lefties. It has seemed like every starting pitcher we’ve faced the last couple of weeks has been a righty.
You just said it funny. No BFD. “Finally” is weird when they saw one their last game…
They’re replacing “New York, New York” as the Belmont theme with “Empire State of Mind,” by rapper Jay-Z. The lyrics include this line, “Mommy took a bus trip, now she got her bust out/everybody ride her just like a bus route…”
I don’t know what the world is coming to.
Please tell me that’s not true! OMFG!!!
Kruk’s comment about Rowand.Stay Hot! The scary thing is he’s serious.
DD – cup,
I sheepishly, or lambilly, admit I love that song by Jay-Z. Admittedly, I don’t understand half the words, and, um, those that I do understand I don’t always agree with (he salutes the Yankees, ignores the Mets), but we turn it up in the car. We? Me and my 13yo daughter. Call me a failure of a parent if you must (but not fuckwadesque, s.v.p.). She’ll turn out okay. The older kids did. So did I. CRANK UP DA MUSIC! GIMME SOME DAP!
Dirty is looking filthy.
Pawlie – if it ain’t polka, it ain’t shit
Shit, you could hear the guy in the third row yelling, “Malt! Malt!” He got his chocolate malted I see.
Two innings, two GDPs. Is this shit ever gonna stop?
Ally– yeah the “stay hot” key to the game was a hoot….
Twin–i wrote it wrong and see why you posted what you posted……
Duke is not a stiff, he’s definitely shown up dealin’. He has his implosion games for sure but he is pitching very well tonight. Dirrrrty too……
Why did they throw the breaking pitch when it appeared that’s all Duke was sitting on?
I put Posey’s E on Whitey for allowing the ball to be put in play in the first place. Bad fucking pitch selection if you ask me.
Shite
That play HAS to be made.
A 4-run error by the second coming. Fuck you Jesus! This shit is over already.
What a waste of Sanchez’s stuff tonight.
Couldn’t agree more Dennis.Sanchez blows 2 Fastballs by Duke. And then gives him a slow breaking ball.Stupid. Now it’s cost him 3 runs.
brutal….it WAS a tough in-between hop. Look, we’re playing a fucking catcher at first base, this is the price you pay sometimes….
We can come back against this team, they give up a 6 pack of runs all the time…..
Fuck that – lets get those runs back
Sheesh, I write some emails and come back to a mess. Duke is a very good pitcher, but I ain’t giving up yet. (Like they care what I think.)
He’s seen two pitches and accounted for three outs. Nothing left to be said.
I liked Sanchez stuff a lot better before McCutchen hit one to the wall…
This has to end, once and for all, any idea that Sanchez either needs or derives any benefit from his personal C. When he’s good, he could throw to Del Crandall’s ghost; nobody can hit the guy. When he’s off and can’t spot his pitches, Prez can’t help him out of it and he gets SF behind early. It’s not like this hasn’t happened before.
How much did Bonds weigh when he hit that HR in 1986? He looked about as skinny as Moreno.
They’ve scored a total of 5 runs in Dirty’s previous 4 road starts this year. Five! Unreal.
You know willied, I’m thinking fuck the catcher, just make sure his dad is at the game.
Willied, I agree the personal catcher stuff is sheer nonsense, but the Giants are not behind because Sanchez failed to “spot” his pitches.
Geez another DP.But hey Rowand’s staying Hot! His DP actually got a run in.Kruk will marvel at that one for the rest of the game.
What a great at bat for the prez
Wow, what an AB by Whitey!
I wish Posey had used his pear-shaped body to block that tough hop grounder, but he didn’t. On the other hand, he’s batting close to .500 with 21 PAs, he hasn’t walked once, and he’s struck out only once. Oh, yeah, he hit a booming double tonight.
Whoa. I guess Whitehair’s in for his offense.
Might be the best AB from a Giant all year. Go figure.
Personal Catcher delivers! Way to go Whitey!
“Be quick, but don’t hurry.”
Except for Raymond Chandler, the only good thing that’s ever come out of L.A.
Uuuuuuuuuuuu-Ribe!
OOOOOOOOOO-REE-BAY!
Awesome. As I thought, coming back from 4 down isn’t that tough against thus team. New ball game
Now thats, what I’m talkin about
Wow new ballgame!!! Sanchez 3 hits and the big blast for Uribe!!!
Don’t give that Uribe guy an off day until he asks for one. What a player.
Uh oh. Posey rises back toward .500. Seems like he can always make contact.
Yessss!
Hell Yeah
Huff ‘n’ Puff!!!
There’s your 6-pack Flav!
HUFF -N- PUFF! Wow! He hit the shit outta that one.
Splash hit? The Texas gunslinger comes through.
And our six were EARNED. Awesome come back on the road
Did huff have a funky little mini babe Ruth pose there right after he swung????
Hummmm Baby!!
Would be nice to get another couple of solid innings out of J Sanchez.
3 location “mistakes” from Sanchez, 3 outs.
James, how exactly did Sanchez get behind, then? I realize Posey screwed up the inning so he has to get another out, but there is two outs and the score is 1-0 at that point…and the ball is in Sanchez hands. Two batters later, it’s 4-0. He doesn’t get a free pass because somebody behind him fucked up.
Looks like he has settled down, and if the pen can hold em off, he’ll get a W.
Yeah there was some well smoked balls that inning.Yes Huff and Puff was showing some Babe in him with that one.He got all of it!
Willied, the pitches Sanchez threw last inning to get those outs were worse than those hit in the 2nd. A lot of this is random shit. There have been about 4 balls hit hard off of Sanchez in close to 100 pitches.
John Wooden passed away tonight at age 99.
Yeah, he’s the source of “Be quick, but don’t hurry.”
That was some serious gas there. Nice job by Casilla to hold’em at bay.
Strange career Casilla’s had, for a guy who can hit 98 on the gun.
Rowand continues to stay HOT! If only in Krukow’s delirious mind.
Hmmm. Nice D substitutions for this inning. Great play, Andres!
Sure was a great time to get Huff out of LF. Great ketch Torres!
Woo-Hoo!!! Nice come back, guys!
Yup – that will do it
