A Place To Talk About Giants Baseball

Pay Back for the White Shoe’d Chumps

Posted in Uncategorized by Flavor on June 11, 2010

We get Gio Gonzalez again. Last time BamBam sent the hitters out there with the advice of “swing early” and it was a failure as I could have told him. You beat Gio by letting him walk you. I think in all of his wins except one he walked 2 or less. In his losses/non decisions he walked more than 2. Besides putting base runners on it rattles him, you can see it in his body language on the mound–he’s like a “pre no hitter” Dirrrrty in that regard. Anyway, I hope our hitters take a different approach this time……

Having said all that, I think we take 2 of 3 from them, maybe a sweep. Their best hitter (Suzuki) is gone all weekend at his grand father’s funeral.  The A’s are going to have MASSIVE problems scoring runs this weekend…..

Chuck, you and I never agree. wtf’s going on here?

  2. TedSpe's avatar TedSpe said, on June 11, 2010 at 1:45 pm

He has been more selective and he’s hitting nearly .300 since then.
    —————-
And that’s why the arguement about moving Sandoval gets weird to me. Because of his monster April, he’s hitting nearly .300 season to date. It looks like a slump, maybe yesterday he broke out of it, but as long as his season-to-date avg is in the mid to high .200’s, you got to trust. When the Medoza line is in the horizon, well…

I agree that Panda will come around. In fact I wouldn’t move him down tonight because, other than the missed bunt sign, I saw promise in his ABs yesterday. If he looks bad tonight, then I’d like to see him hitting 6. In that case my ideal LU tomorrow would be:

    Torres CF
    Sanchez 2B
    Huff 1B
    Uribe SS
    Posey C
    Panda 3B
    Burrell LF
    Shierholtz RF
    Zito P

    “you got to trust”
Jesus fucking christ, we’re talking about letting someone else hit 3d for a while, or once in a while; we’re not talking about sending him to Richmond Va. for the summer. Talk about insanity. Some people respond to criticism of Pablo as if they have a terrible allergy — the tiniest drop of diss kicks off violent anaphylaxis. Take some benadryl and chill.

  5. 3bagger's avatar 3bagger said, on June 11, 2010 at 1:56 pm

Personally, I love the guy. I had my wife wash my Sandoval jersey for tonight’s game. Doesn’t mean I can’t be critical when he’s slumping. I’ll be at the game tonight and hope like hell he pulls out of it, but if not…

  6. TedSpe's avatar TedSpe said, on June 11, 2010 at 1:57 pm

He just went 2 for 5 yesterday. So it’s insanity to say keep him at the 3 today?

  7. xootsuit's avatar xootsuit said, on June 11, 2010 at 1:57 pm

My kid’ll be wearing his Sandoval shirt when we go tomorrow night and we’ll be rooting for him. (And he better be in the LU!)

  8. xootsuit's avatar xootsuit said, on June 11, 2010 at 1:59 pm

No, it’s not insanity to keep at the 3 tonight, or tomorrow. It’s just NOT insanity to consider moving him around, especially when Huff and Burrell and Posey are all in the lineup.

  9. Unca Chuck's avatar Unca Chuck said, on June 11, 2010 at 2:00 pm

When do they move him down? *I* will let you know.

This is Mike’s argument. When Bochy does it is the right time. Like Orson Welles and his cheap-ass wine. “We will make no move before its TIIIIIIIIIMMMMMMMMMMMEEE . . . . . . .”

What if Bochy does it tonight? Then magically we are wrong for calling for the change. Even though Bochy said he’d do it.

    Got it.

Mike, “He has NEVER hit well anywhere *except* the bottom of the order.”

Since Nate hits well at the bottom of the order, and since someone has to hit 8th, why the hell not put him there? That way you can play your best RFer in RF and Torres, the best CFer, can play CF.

Timmy (as mentioned by someone earlier) has owned the cross-town white shoe wearing fuckwads, let’s hope that his game continues to look better, and that him and the Gigante bats put a beatdown on their sorry asses.

  26. ChiPower's avatar ChiPower said, on June 11, 2010 at 2:41 pm

    My guess on tonight’s line-up:

    Torres – RF
    Sanchez – 2B
    Pablo – 3B
    Huff – LF
    Uribe – SS
    Posey – 1B
    Molina – C
    Rowand – CF
    Timmy – P

(or maybe Posey and Bengie get switched-up in the 6/7)….

  29. xootsuit's avatar xootsuit said, on June 11, 2010 at 2:43 pm

Doubt that Posey will catch Lincecum so long as Benji’s on the roster and ambulatory. Rowand could use some rest, but won’t, I bet. If that’s the way it goes, I hope for Torres in RF. The weather’s mild but windy tonight, current blowint more or less out to LCF, I think. Should help the right handed hitters.

  30. TedSpe's avatar TedSpe said, on June 11, 2010 at 2:44 pm

Alexi Lalas just stole my thunder and my pick by selecting the Netherlands to win the World Cup. I don’t know what’s more unsettling, that the “expert” and I agree on the winner, or the fact that I even spent the time and effort, good mind you, of handicapping the damn World Cup. Fuck it, Go Dutch!

  37. xootsuit's avatar xootsuit said, on June 11, 2010 at 2:56 pm

There are good reasons for batting Benji 6 rather than 7, but when you (as the Giants do, these days) pack the bottom of the batting order with guys who have no speed, those reasons fade to negligibility. I like having Posey as high in the order as is reasonable.

  42. xootsuit's avatar xootsuit said, on June 11, 2010 at 3:08 pm

That’s not exactly what I said, but I realize you need to take your shots when you think you have them. Rowand could use more rest; take a look at his numbers for the last 7 or 8 days, overall. But I would rather have Rowand than Sheer, and I don’t look forward to Burrell and Huff in the same OF at home. (Nor does anyone, I imagine.) If Posey caught, however, things would be easier. But I don’t see that happening tonight.

  43. xootsuit's avatar xootsuit said, on June 11, 2010 at 3:09 pm

  45. xootsuit's avatar xootsuit said, on June 11, 2010 at 3:18 pm

Yes, that is what I said, in quotes. Your initial bullshit interpretation of it was just dishonest. I didn’t say he should, or that he needed to sit out. I said I thought he could use more rest. I think the guy’s burnt. He came back from his broken face well rested and raked. The last few weeks he has been worn out. One day off won’t do it. You disagree? Who cares. The only thing splash like about the blog today is your hysterical raving about “insanity,” etc.

  73. xootsuit's avatar xootsuit said, on June 11, 2010 at 3:59 pm

And I never said Rowand “needed” to sit. I realize the sentence was unusually complex, but let’s see if we can figure it out: “Rowand [i.e., the player, subjectively] could use some rest, but won’t [use it], I bet.” My opinion is that he would benefit from some more rest, but that he wouldn’t do anything to take more rest, now. I didn’t say Bochy should bench him. I didn’t say he should sit. Those were your various inaccurate intepretations of what I said. You’re sloppy today, twin. Face it.

  74. 3bagger's avatar 3bagger said, on June 11, 2010 at 4:01 pm

Reno, we’re going to two games. I always like to sit behind home for one and, for the other, I like to do something unique to the park. At Petco we sat behind home one night and in the sandbox in CF the next. Anyplace cool like that at Coors? What about on top of the RF wall, where the arcade is at AT&T?

  75. twinfan's avatar twinfan said, on June 11, 2010 at 4:01 pm

    • xootsuit's avatar xootsuit said, on June 11, 2010 at 7:19 pm

You’re simply trying to avoid reading the sentence carefully. I know it’s tough, twin, but read the entire sentence, each part together. It, as they say, recuperates differently than you (the superficial, angry reader) thought it would. The first clause is a deliberate cliche that shifts its meaning when the point of view shifts, in the second clause. If you insist on taking one clause out of context, we’ll have to seek sanctions.
