A Place To Talk About Giants Baseball

Nice Start, Zito Needs to Step it Up…..

Posted in Uncategorized by Flavor on June 12, 2010

Very nice overall game, we showed power (2 bombs), patience (5 walks) and it should have been more than 6-2 (that bases loaded nobody out fiasco was infuriating)…..

This is a good team for Zito to pitch against today. He has been painfully below average for the last month. He’s never beaten Oaktown. A stud performance against them would get him re-started, I think…..

Anyone got a problem with Pat the Bat playing every day?

Try to be realistic, even a little bit, Kat. Nate is not in the rotation. That should be obvious even to you.

Time to start thinking about the July contest. Format will be the same. I think I saw some talk about needing an additional tie breaker. If it comes to that, I’ll decide on it then, probably a one game play off… July prize will be another PC- haven’t decided between a gamer or another HTPC. The team will be in first and probably starting to pull away as July ends…

I hope Lewis succeeds. Sure it didn’t work out with the Giants but when he does well we all can feel good for him. He’s probably a streak guy like so many. Hitting well is a constant condition for a tiny few. Most players have hot and cold streaks.

    CF Andres Torres
    2B Freddy Sanchez
    RF Aubrey Huff
    SS Juan Uribe
    LF Pat Burrell
    1B Buster Posey
    3B Pablo Sandoval
    C Bengie Molina
    P Barry Zito

The Huffster in RF tonight. The guy continues to impress with his outfield prowess. No worries here.

Stix, re: “less pressure on Zito and Sanchez”…I’m hoping the opposite is true. In other words, neither of these guys wants to be known as the weakest link, or the game the opposition has their best shot at winning, so they bear down and concentrate a little harder after Lincecum and Cain have dominated. And hopefully rise to the occasion.

I think tonight’s game looms large in our hopes of getting on a nice win streak. Win tonight, Cainer tomorrow followed by three vs the lowly O’s looks like six in-a-row to me. Baltimore is horrible. We could get nine guys off this blog to beat their sorry asses. Yep, win tonight and we’ll hit the 6+ streak. Book it!

    Started my all star voting:
Uribe and Torres (5 times each)
10 votes for Pablo (because I’m a homer)
and 5 I’m saving for the ‘final’ vote if any Giant has a hot streak from here to then.

The players I vote for I like, are quality and they have a hot first half.
Mostly NL players because those are the ones I see play.
    This year I like:
    1B Morneau or Howard
    2B Uggla
    3B Longoria
    SS Jeter or Tulowitzki
    OF McCutchen
    OF BJ Upton
    OF Heyward
    C Mauer or Molina
SP Jimenez (the definition of an All Star year), Cain, Lincecum
    RP – Wilson
    DH – Vlad

Ed, I look at the O’s as a team that could be a classic case of someone coming into AT&T, getting totally undone by the unfamiliar aspects of the ballpark, and by the time they start figuring out the ballpark, they’ve lost all three games.

It’s my lucky day. I was reading the Mays book (just finished page 502), then I turn on the MLB channel, channel 100 locally, and Bob Costas is interviewing Willie and talking about the exact incidents I had just read about, with footage! Almost eerie. Then the station says I get to watch the Giants tonight and again Wednesday on the local MLB channel I get. Woo-hoo.

Going back to what looks like a healthy debate on Renteria…Renteria has shown much better range this year in his time playing than last. Not even close. I have a feeling Renteira is going to be the hot bat when he gets back…Uribe needs to sub at short twice a week, couple starts at third and maybe oen a week at second…plenty of abs…

Thanks Flav, their team was so much better than their competition this year that I think their celebration was surprisingly muted…signs of maturity. Our kids all move up to 6th grade next year and the tougher division with a bigger field. Will be interesting to see how they adapt, but we have three kids who can get the ball over the plate with some steam, makes all the difference…

And they forced them to provide only “healthy” items…juice box, fruit bars, trail mix, etc. What the hell ever happened to a Coke, bag of chips and box of candy. I don’t know what the world has come to anymore.

I’m not excusing Franchez, but I think part of the reason is our “one-run approach mentality.” Never better evidenced then by the Panda squeeze. This team is brainwashed into thinking one here, one there. Maybe we need a different mindset.

I did not realize — or forgot — how detrimental the move of the A’s from KC to Oakland was in 1968, until I read about it today. Immediately cut Giants’ attendance by 33%. I don’t understand how the move was allowed. So, now all the more reason to hope the AthleticS(upporters) lose this game.

For the helluva it, I wish Sandoval would’ve gone to third on the wild pickoff. What the hell. Willie did. I know, seems reckless, but Oakland would have to throw it right and catch it right to get him out. WTF, it’s a Saturday night.
