A Place To Talk About Giants Baseball

Where’d the Electricity Go?

Posted in Uncategorized by Flavor on June 27, 2010

Yesterday’s game just didn’t match up to the intensity of Friday night. Zumie did a nice job of re-capping the game. I’d also add that I really enjoyed the Irvin Ceremony. For a 91 yr old man who’s not a regular public speaker I thought he did an OUTSTANDING job during his few minutes at the podium–very engaging guy.
You guys had a better view of the Bumgarner game than I did. I just had too much going on with slide/cable car/food/beers/etc to gt a good idea of how he was pitching. I tracked his fastball in the second inning and he seemed to throw almost every FB at 90 mph according to the stadium gun. he’s going to have to vary that if he wants to maintain success at this level. I was struck with how big he’s gotten. Last year he was a super skinny kid but he’s really filled out nicely. Walking around the other players, he fits right in physically–his shoulders, as I said last year, are wide and he’s definitely growing into that frame.
I agree with Zumie, the “Franchez lead off double inning” was a total drag. We can’t even get him to third base with no one out? Awful….
All in all, I thought it was a great debut for Bum. I wouldn’t say he had “electric” stuff but he recovered nicely from that second inning. He wasn’t facing the ’27 Yankees’. Hell, he wasn’t even facing the ’10 Red Sox’– but he was composed and professional. I like him.

At this time (and I know that’s a cop out), I prefer the lefty that’s thrown a no no than the one that might. I guess Bum should bring more in a trade but I do prefer Dirty, so I’m not sure how to answer that.
I still think position player(s) from the 25 are the first to go if we even do a trade.

I’d be pretty hard to please if you’re talking about trading a starter, but I don’t want Fielder. I’d rather have a more athletic player that could run and play the OF and bring some defense. Torres might not hold up to 500 ABs Burrell neither, and Rowand and Nate aren’t helping much.

Sf SPs have let them down lately, going back to Cain and Zito. Sanchez couldn’t hang very long in Toronto either. Without stellar pitching, SF is going to have a hader time. All of the above have put the team behind early, just like Lincecum today.

Sando is just a confounding kid. Yesterday he crushed two balls about 750 feet and got only a single. Today he’s swinging at everything, with bad results when really needed. He just makes it so much harder by swinging at bad pitches and not being more selective. And he knows it as well as anyone, he just can’t stay under control.

Joba Chamberlain is a fuckwad doofus. That cap is a totally stupid look, and so is his pitching. Guarantee the Yankees pick up a set up guy, no matter what it costs. Nice to see them make Broxton strain.

Bozo, actually Sanchez would bring much more. MadBum is still a”prospect” and would have to be bundled to get a nice bat. Think Carlos Gonzalez, Greg Smith and Huston Street for Holliday. I’ve been Dirty’s biggest supporter here, by FAR, but right now he’s the guy who A. They can afford to trade and B. would still fetch enough to make it worthwhile. Dirty and Travis for Fielder I think would work for both sides.
    IMHO…

well, if they are gonna go after Prince *which they won’t it;s just fun blog talk) then now is the time to do it. Buy low. The dude will still end up with 35+ bombs by the end of the year///

Willie, I’d agree except you just don’t get 5 tool outfielders unless Linceum or Cain are the names on our end..
Panda had me bangin’ the table again. Before the awful AB with runners on first and third I thought that I’d really like to see Bam Bam actually come out of the dugout and remind the fuck. Yesterday’s K with RISP didn’t bother me because he had real honest to God power cuts. Today he didn’t even swing at that shit with conviction. He’s thinking too much and not getting real swings.

Flavor, I agree it’s unlikely but he IS a name that constantly comes up outside the blogs. And it does make sense for both teams. I can totally live with Lincecum, Cain, Zits, MadBum, and Sosa.

Fresno update: Pucetas continues to fall off the end of the earth. Bombed tonight, now 6+ ERA…
Bowker with 2 more HR , now 9 in 90 at bats…possible add on in trade?

I assume Broxton will not be available now for tomorrow’s game.

Awesome just watching Broxton implode,Blowing a 6-2 lead throwing 50 pitches.

Cocksucker is null and void for tomorrow. That’s why you NEVER bring in your closer with a 4+ run lead.
Less intensity equals shitty results. That one is on Joe T. Asshole.

You can’t “live with Sosa” till you see him pitch against major leaguers…..
And fuck Pucetas, he was always just a guy who won a lot of minor league games. I preferred him to Wellemeyer simply because it was Wellemeyer. And I thought he earned a shot. He probably would have fucked it up badly……

    Bullshit.

And WTF was Loney thinking trying to be Superman and get two outs? Fucking idiot cost them the tying run. Bunch of dumb motherfuckers the whole lot of ’em. Hope they play till midnight.

Torre put in Broxton last night with a 9-4 lead with 2 outs in the 8th!

Don’t be so defensive, Flavor, I wasn’t thinking of you with the Poocetas update, he pitched tonight is all. The numbers kinda jump out. I told you a long time ago, though: he’s the same guy as Wellemweyer, he’s just younger with more years of suckitude ahead of him. Sosa is a legit prospect. He throws 95-98. a hard curve, was rated AHEAD of Bumgarner by Baseball Prospectus. He’s back after some injury problems.

I’m sure you are right, twin…I guess that’s why I’m against it. In their yard i’d like to see SF get younger and more athletic, and pick up a guy that would be a building block they would keep….more like a Choo, or Adam Jones, Markakis type (who could be completely unavailable, I realize). Look at what we have: Rent, Uribe, Sando, Molina, Burrell, Huff and Rowand. I’d like to improve speed and D if possible.

Torre has got to be shitting himself. Bravo to Cano, pride of San Pedro de Macoris, DR. I know Marichal is esp proud of his countryman right now. It was nice to see and hear him yesterday.

    Now that was fun!

  24. willied's avatar willied said, on June 27, 2010 at 9:19 pm

Yeah! that was really hot…then I turn to mlbtv and watch the Padres sweep the fuckwad marlins, at home in FLA in front of no one. That franchise should be contracted, esp after that promotion of those fuckwad stupid horns.

No way Torre sticks around for another year of this BS. I don’t know how he can keep this group together enough to compete. too many fuckwads.

    • Macdog's avatar Macdog said, on June 27, 2010 at 9:56 pm

That managerial change really helped the Marlins. Now they play three home games vs. the Mets — in Puerto Rico. Couldn’t agree more, Will.

They should be re-named the LA Fuckwads.

  26. Del Mar Dennis's avatar delmardennis said, on June 27, 2010 at 9:27 pm

They have to be reeling and shaking their collective heads in disbelief after tonight.
Need to capitalize on their fragile state of mind and kick the living shit out of ’em.
Kick ’em while they’re down, and kick ’em good.

  27. twinfan's avatar twinfan said, on June 27, 2010 at 9:42 pm

To be clear, Torre didn’t make any tactical mistakes, only Dodger Room B’ers would say he did. They’ve been struggling. They get a 4 run lead and he decides to make absolutely certain it holds up so he goes to Broxton- 0.83 ERA coming in, totally dominant all year. And he pulls the horrendo Manny for defense. Torre made all the right calls. Broxton gave up as many tonight as he had ALL YEAR…
