A Place To Talk About Giants Baseball

Unleashing Hell…..

Posted in Uncategorized by Flavor on July 8, 2010

Fun game. I tell ya though, this Posey kid,  I just never saw this in him. Hitting home runs? I just figured him for a Jason Kendall type….

Is it just me or does it seem like Torres and Franchez have lost a TON of hits over the last few weeks by hitting the ball on the screws right at someone?

Bad feeling about the game today but no biggie, we’ve already taken the first 3…..

Anyone else notice – besides the TMZ fashionistas – that the Giants accomplished this four game sweep wearing their traditional “Orange on Black” hats?

SHIT CAN THE ORANGE ON WHITE “GIRLIE MAN” HATS ASAP. Arnold would approve . . .

Bring on that Punk Ass kid Strasburg.Posey will show him there’s more then one good Rookie phenom this year along with Heyward.

Orange on White? You lost me blade. They wear the traditional all black with orange SF on all days except Sunday. On Sunday…it’s the “throwback” with the orange bill.

They wore the “red, white, and blue” during the Independence Day weekend playing the Rox. (All teams did.)

  4. twinfan's avatar twinfan said, on July 8, 2010 at 2:58 pm

These idiots on the postgame are ragging on Parra for getting obsessed with Torres in the first inning. Actually it was the dumb fuck shortstop, Escobar. Macha should have told the fucker to knock it off, he was even annoying Zeke.
And now FP is on Bochy for taking Zits out. Actually it was a great move. “Throw strikes, fuckwad”…

  5. blade3colorado's avatar blade3colorado said, on July 8, 2010 at 3:00 pm

No Chi, about a week ago, they wore all white with orange insignia . . . Check out the posts about a week or so back and quite a few people were commenting on how ugly they were. Not certain if it was a series or one game thing.

Unleashing hell indeed. 4 game totals. Giants 36- Brewers 7.

      Now THAT’S kicking some ass.

  7. blade3colorado's avatar blade3colorado said, on July 8, 2010 at 3:02 pm

Actually it might have had an orange bill, but the rest of the hat was white with orange SF. Regardless, it was UGLY.

  8. ChiPower's avatar ChiPower said, on July 8, 2010 at 3:03 pm

Hmmm…maybe one game and one I missed. All White with orange, eh? The Indepence Day hats were all white, with the SF being “stars and stripes.” Orange on White sounds ugly as hell. Burn those fuckers.

  9. ChiPower's avatar ChiPower said, on July 8, 2010 at 3:06 pm

Maybe the “Stars and Stripes” is what you are thinking?

I just looked at the link . . . Yeah, it could have been that one. I can’t make out the rest of the insignia over the SF, but that may be it. Hey, did you get a look at that “plaid” hat? Now, that is ugly!!!!

  11. ChiPower's avatar ChiPower said, on July 8, 2010 at 3:21 pm

I saw some clown in the grocery store rocking one of those plaid SF hats the other day…was tempted as hell to ask him “Hey, you get a free bowl of soup with that hat?!”

  12. swickman's avatar swickman said, on July 8, 2010 at 3:31 pm

Ha, my brother has that hat – got it at a recent game. I had to ask him how he could wear that piece of shit in public. Somehow, free trumps stupid-looking.

Real ugly stat for the Brewers in this series, 2-42 with RISP.Easy to see why we SWEPT them.

  14. ChiPower's avatar ChiPower said, on July 8, 2010 at 3:47 pm

For their vaunted offense, 2-42 w/RISP tells me they are really off their game, or our pitching staff was lights-out…or a little of both.

I sure as hell hope they kick Strasburg’s ass tomorrow. WTF…why are all the starters for the Nats series TBD for the Giants? It has been hyped “Cain vs. Strasburg” for days.

That plaid one is almost as bad as the ones they gave away a long time ago. It was a painter’s cap that was white, and had a bunch of little Giants logos all over them. They looked like little hotdogs. I think there was a matching warmup jacket. Didn’t get that though.

    Everoyne was like, what’s with the hotdogs? OOOOOoooohhhhhhhhhhhhh……. man, that’s ugly . . .

No shit on the David Lee Ralph trade, Craig. Cohan is trying his damnedest to fuck up the team as much as possible before he leaves. Monte Ellis will be traded for Allan Iverson next . . .

  21. blade3colorado's avatar blade3colorado said, on July 8, 2010 at 5:19 pm

Dennis, what are the odds that Lebron’s Cleveland home is burned to the ground if he announces that he is signing with Miami?

Personally, if he does sign with Miami, I would be fine with that . . . but to figuratively spit on Cleveland by announcing nationally on television in prime time that he is going to sign with any team other than Cleveland is disgusting and abhorrent to the extreme. If he does this – he is dogshit in my book.

  22. Del Mar Dennis's avatar delmardennis said, on July 8, 2010 at 5:57 pm

Yeah, King James isn’t gonna be making any new friends in Cleveland with his 1-Hr. charade of a what amounts to little more than “Hey, look at me, look at me. I’m going here now.” He’s basically pulling an Eric Cartman on the fans of Cleveland and saying, “Screw you guys, I’m going home.”

As for the W’s, their best hope is to pray LeBron pulls a late switcheroo and heads to NY that would nix their deal. Otherwise, they’re fucked once again.

  27. Flavor's avatar bigflavor said, on July 8, 2010 at 6:55 pm

watching the Marlin’s game, i rarely watch this feed, and it’s the first inning and Drew hits a triple with no out to lead off the game. And the color guy goes “OK, let me break this situation down for the fans, here’s the deal: we’re not playing the infield in ’cause we want to avoid the big inning. if they score a run so be it, we’ll trade a run for an out” I replayed it so I transcribed it perfectly ……I didn’t realize Marlin fans were all mongoloid idiots. Kruk and Kuip’s performance rating jump up several spots any time I watch these random games……

  28. dirtnrocksnomo's avatar dirtnrocksnreno said, on July 8, 2010 at 6:57 pm

chuck, standings weren’t updated when I posted. How about 5 then? G’s are 5 out and Zito couldn’t quite go 5.

  29. stixwiz's avatar stixwiz said, on July 8, 2010 at 7:00 pm

Edlefsen could rack up pretty similar stats to Runzler. Pretty unhittable. Gives up a few too many walks. At least Runzler got a win for his troubles. Both Dagos and Rox win, so it looks as if the NLW are the counterpoint to the ALE this season. Dogs playing the Cubbies tonight. Didn’t catch the matchup, but usually Chi is LA’s beetch.

  30. Unca Chuck's avatar Unca Chuck said, on July 8, 2010 at 7:05 pm

Was Bautista just too awful to give the win to? Wasn’t he the default pitcher of record, since Zito didn’t go 5? It’s the scorer’s call, right?

  31. Flavor's avatar bigflavor said, on July 8, 2010 at 7:08 pm

he can give it to whoever he wants. Coulda been Ray.

Can the Cubs do anything against Kershaw? It’s probably doubtful, but hey, the game’s aren’t played on paper.

  33. dirtnrocksnomo's avatar dirtnrocksnreno said, on July 8, 2010 at 7:11 pm

I don’t get how that was decided. I see where Baggs says he’s pissed but Zito should have never gotten into that spot to begin with. Dude has performed better this year but needs to pull it together for the 2nd half.

  34. Del Mar Dennis's avatar delmardennis said, on July 8, 2010 at 7:12 pm

Twin quoted the rule book over on the Splash. I thought it was gonna go to Ray myself, but if two pitchers are effective, the W goes to the one who pitched first.

“The official scorer, in determining which relief pitcher was the most effective, should consider the number of runs, earned runs and base runners given up by each relief pitcher and the context of the game at the time of each relief pitcher’s appearance. If two or more relief pitchers were similarly effective, the official scorer should give the presumption to the earlier pitcher as the winning pitcher.”

Maybe 1,000 year old Larry King will be in the stands with his gold-digger wife. It was hilarious last year seeing Jon Lovitz with his young gold-digger wife in the stands. The wife never looked up from her texting. Lovitz looked miserable. She was probably texting the pool guy.

  36. Flavor's avatar bigflavor said, on July 8, 2010 at 7:15 pm

I could see the Cubs winning that game, they’re playing pretty well right now. Cubs are mostly right handed hitters. I say they win tonight.

  37. zumarust's avatar zumarust said, on July 8, 2010 at 7:20 pm

F.P. wins the goofball award with his trying to make a case for Zito staying in, because you see, if Zito gives up a grandslam, it’s only 6-5, and the Giants are still ahead! Wow- unbelievable F.P. could actually trot that reasoning out there. There’s kind of a huge difference between 6-5 and 6-2, the actual score at the end of the inning.
Kudos to Bochy for pulling the plug on Zito when he did.

  38. max808's avatar max808 said, on July 8, 2010 at 7:24 pm

Haven’t followed the Cubs at all …interesting looking at their lineup seeing Nady and Fukodome. I wonder if Fuku is reviled in Chi as Rowand is here?

  39. Flavor's avatar bigflavor said, on July 8, 2010 at 7:24 pm

I like FP, unlike everyone else. But he does say some dumb shit sometimes. And I completely agree with Bochy’s decision. You don’t deserve a chance to get a win, you earn it. And a big hit there could have taken our foot off their throat. Zito should be pissed at himself, not Bochy and that “no comment” shit he had today was classless……

  40. zumarust's avatar zumarust said, on July 8, 2010 at 7:25 pm

How it all sank for Rowand. He was brought in here to be a hardnosed hardplaying fan FAVORITE.

  41. zumarust's avatar zumarust said, on July 8, 2010 at 7:28 pm

I do think I agree with F.P. that you want a pitcher to be angry about being taken out in that situation. You like the competitive fire. But, certainly, by the end of the game, Zito should have it all in perspective again, and see why Bochy did what he did. Zito’s no dummy. He knows there isn’t full confidence in him. Why should there be? A couple of decent months a season? He still has some things he needs to prove.

  42. dirtnrocksnomo's avatar dirtnrocksnreno said, on July 8, 2010 at 7:32 pm

Zito was right to just give the no comment there. He may be wrong to be pissed at Bochy but the game was still fresh in his mind. Better to say that than something he would really regret. I get the sense from Bochy that he doesn’t give a rats ass about Zito or what he thinks.

  43. zumarust's avatar zumarust said, on July 8, 2010 at 7:38 pm

The commenters at ExtraBaggs are pretty worthless, but one of them raised a thought-provoking philosophical question- if Giants baseball is torture, what does that make Milwaukee Brewers baseball?

  44. Flavor's avatar bigflavor said, on July 8, 2010 at 7:46 pm

saying “no comment” is the comment. It was bush league. He sucked, Bochy gave him chances, he should have owned his suckage with that “no comment”….

    Twin’s 3:00 should be stapled onto a few guy’s heads…”Throw strikes, fuckwad”.

fuck zito. He had the ball in his hands with a big lead and acted like a single A rookie. Bochy is trying to win games not stroke the Mofo’s ego. If you want to be mad at someone, look in the fucking mirror.

As Twin also pointed out, his suckitude makes Sanchez (or any other SP) virtually untradeable, which I count as a good thing. As Spike Lee said to MJ in those commercials, “Let me repeat myself”….fuck zito.

Soriano also is as big a dog as it gets.

Zito said no comment? Screw him. Try not walking the #8 hitter Inglett and washed-up Edmonds with a 6-1 lead. The Brew were constantly one hit away from getting back in it thanks to Zito’s free passes. Good job for Bochy.

  51. stixwiz's avatar stixwiz said, on July 8, 2010 at 8:32 pm

One of Bochy’s better moves of the year. Zito was nibbling all through his stint like a toothless carp. 113 pitches in less than five full does not match up with an $18M salary. I wasn’t so pumped over Denny Bautista getting the call though and totally bewildered by him starting the next inning. Either Runzler or Casilla should have gotten the nod and with a clean slate, not a couple runners on. Lucky this was the BooHoo BrewCrew and not some NLW toughies.

Remember last week when Sf gave Zito 7-1 lead vs. Ubaldo and he gave it all away?
Since April hot streak, Chron numbers have him at 2-4 with a 5.24 ERA. His away numbers for the season are Wellemeyer like, 4.77 ERA on the road 2.83 at home.
WHIP since April at 1.5, 120 baserunners in 80 innings.
Traditionally he is much better in second half….SF better hope so, but Bochy had another reason to be pissed at his stupid ass and a couple guys that followed. With the heat wave in the East (DC was 95 yesterday with a low of 81) you know it’s going to be harder for SPs to finish what they start. Yesterday should not have been a day to use 5 guys plus Zito.
