A Place To Talk About Giants Baseball

Nice Start

Posted in Uncategorized by Flavor on July 16, 2010

Lovely game last night, wasn’t it? It was +130 lovely for me. As I suspected, Timmy mowed down that line up. Now we turn to our mercurial master of mediocrity, Zit-Man. He needs to step it up. He’s got ONE WIN since May 16th. That’s just not cool. Niese is his opponent and he’s a guy who’s sort of turn4ed a corner, IMO, over the last several weeks.  I suspect we finally see Torres back tonight, at least I hope so.

We’re -130 tonight. Ugh, who would take that bet? Let’s just pray to God that Zito goes 6 or whatever and staggers to the dugout with a 5-3 lead….

No Zito Twin, even if they scored. No way.

Good thing there is actually a game for Miller to call, or we might not ever hear from him. STFU, FP!

Yeah, that was hot. Don’t need 4.3 with pitching like that…now it’s on the rest of them to match up.

Well, let me be the first to ask; what the fuck is up with our shitty offense?
We’ve only scored three runs in two games. 😀

    I love winning!

Gee, let’s see the update on scoring: 4.37 RPG. W/L pace: 88-74. Damn, I’m a fucking doomer again.

Not sure if you guys heard this already but apparently Bengie Molina hit for the cycle tonight at Fenway – I’m just blown away by the fact that he hit a triple.

  32. twinfan's avatar twinfan said, on July 16, 2010 at 10:35 pm

A stand up triple, Billy. Although it’s said he strained a quad. Here’s the video of all 4 hits. The double was an iffy scorer’s decision.

Yeah, you’re off by .07 runs/gm and one full game under our projected pace. Quit slacking off.

How’ bout those two starting jobs to kickoff the second half. Timmy was well, just being Timmy last night. I don’t know who the fuck Barry was being tonight but we’ll take it. 10 K’s, 13 swinging strikes, 19 first-pitch strikes, go figure. I sure hope he wasn’t under the guise of starting the 9th though. Sorry, wasn’t gonna happen. Hopefully these two starts helps Matty to get his shit in gear. Needs to keep this starting pitching Conga line moving, no stepping outta place.

Forgot to post this earlier when the conversation warrented it…I hope the last sentance doesn’t come to be…

    Corey (Stockton CA)
Could you please give a report and ETA for Brandon Belt?

    Klaw (1:49 PM)
Haven’t seen the new swing yet, but talked to a scout last week who had – got him a lot more upright and stable and it’s (obviously) made a huge difference. Could be just a year away, maybe a year and a half. Potential impact bat … or excellent trade bait this month.

Just got home from my second hometown centennial celebration. Yoooowwwwwza. It was sweet hot -dancing out in the street with a bunch of teeners and 20-somethings at me beingcloser to 66 than 65. Totally crazy. Into the bar for a couple and saw on the boobtoob there that the Gigantes had shut out the Mutts again 1-0 this time. So it’s 3:12 A.M. hereabouts and life is good. When small towns cut loose and the Giants win again, what’s to complain?

Was concerned about Zito long before the game but the dude did it. Awesome! He earned his paycheck today, no matter what he’s getting. Performance like that is golden, friggen, fraggen, froggen golden. And Huff the Magic Dragon loves it by the sea, or the Bay anyway. Buster contributes, even without a hit. Yeah, not a lot of hitting right now, but with pitching like last year and the hitters likely to bust out at any moment, we can keep our cool.

Timmy and Barry set the stage for Matt the Horse to keep up with the program. Consecutive shutouts is nice. Three in a row would be above and beyond the call of duty so we shouldn’t really expect that. But a third consecutive win ~ definitely sweet. One of these times this rotation will do it—the seemingly impossible–back to back to back to back to back shutouts. A bunch of years ago the Orioles had a rotation with a similar capacity. Don’t know if they ever pulled that one off, but it is not beyond the realm of the possible that Lincecum, Zito, Cain, Sanchez and Bumgarner could make baseball history. There is not another rotation in The Show which has that potential.

This team could just possibly be turning nasty right in front of our eyes.
