A Place To Talk About Giants Baseball

Game 1 Goes to the Good Guys

Posted in Uncategorized by Flavor on July 20, 2010

I still don’t have the hate for the Dodgers burning deep within me the way it did in the 70’s and 80’s– but last night was sweet. Casey Blake looks like a tired, old woman at the plate. Who doesn’t *love* that?

Bumgarner looks like he’s 28 years old on the mound…..

And thank God for Buster Posey. If he doesn’t muscle that single into center field who knows how long the team would have been second guessing themselves……

Just a huge win all the way around, especially on the heels of the Sunday game blown by that idiot Cuzzi. What the hell was up with his comments *explaining* his call?  “Blanco made a decent attempt to put the tag on him…that’s why I called him out.” Whhhhhaaaatttttt the HELLLLLLLLL is this dumbass talking about?

Prior to last night’s game, I was all fired up raring to go. Had the “Dodgers suck,” “Beat LA!” chants going everywhere. After seeing tonight’s lineup, I just didn’t feel the same energy. Almost was resigned to losing prior to the first pitch. I wonder if the players feel any different night to night when seeing a significant lineup change.

Good, blame Rowand cuz the Freak pitched like shit in the first. Typical.

    • Del Mar Dennis's avatar delmardennis said, on July 20, 2010 at 7:46 pm

I didn’t blame Rowand specifically, all I was wondering is if the players *might* have an emotional change such as I did after seeing the lineup. It is possible the reason Timmy pitched liked shit in the first is because he knew runs might be a little harder than usual to come by tonight.

Give the guy shit for an RBI. Again, typical. Real culprits for 3 runs: Tim and Buster. Flap whipping boyz: Edgar and Rowand.

Twin instead of ragging on people for ripping renteria and raghand, why don’t you toss out a prediction yourself one of these days about how YOU think they’ll do. Until you do that maybe you should stfu up about people having actual opinions about them….

I’ve pointed out why they’re in there. The thing is with the LU bashing, the bashers have the advantage of no one ever being able to know how a different LU would have fared. Now, as I said earlier: shut the fuck up and try to enjoy a ballgame.

Flav, last night before the game you talked about how much you dug the lineup and said, “nate gives you speed and defense, and like Ishi, an occasional power shot”. Pretty prescient, esp since up to last night Nate had 2 HRs in over 160 ABs….got anything to help us out tonight?

Nice to see Lincy go up and in on Furcal…down and in to the LHs, esp if you don’t get it way down or way in, is what hurt him earlier.

  11. twinfan's avatar twinfan said, on July 20, 2010 at 8:01 pm

Nobody with a brain predicts how every batter will do in every game. And Flavoro goes ballistic if one if his whpping boys has a good ballgame and it’s pointed out to him. No one here, including me, thinks Rowand should start regularly, or Rent. Fact is, since they’ve had reduced playing time, they’ve both performed better. Bochy appears to have found a good balance.

  12. zumarust's avatar zumarust said, on July 20, 2010 at 8:01 pm

Franchez has got the “linedrive to the secondbaseman” thing locked in. Could be a good time for Bochy to drop him in the lineup for a game. I know it won’t happen, but I’m just sayin.’ Some other managers would do it. Franchez has to earn that #2 spot. It shouldn’t just be given to him as an entitlement.

James warned us all about his lack of offense repeatedly in off season (“trading the wrong Sanchez”)…numbers so far don’t lie. Would you rather have Downs in there with Uribe at SS? That’s probably a big drop defensively, but more offense. Dunno what to do there, if the only option is more Rent and Uribe to 2B. Velez at 2B was an adventure.

Actually Flav, I enjoyed are own “Flap Station Identification Break with/political commentary.”

Preface my question by saying that it sounds like Whitman is some rich twit . . . Does “Moonbeam” Brown have a chance to win? Yes, I actually like him and didn’t think he was half-bad as governor (at least he thought outside the proverbial box).

OK . . . Back to Giants baseball. Boo Dodgers!!!!

    Hey, Gang:
Fine weekend of guys’ road trip to Pittsburgh, Astros at Pirates. Man, I had been to PNC Park before, but this just reinforced how fabulous it is. As a Giants’ fan, one nice highlight was to receive a text from my friend who is a Mets fan saying “I hate you’re fucking team.” I did not rub it in his face by correcting his grammatical solecism, but it was great to see the boys jump to a 6-0 lead and find out before the scoreboard posted it. Highlights: two best games of the Pirates’ year thus far, $5 parking right across the Clemente bridge, $9 seats on Sunday (those prices are cheaper than a minor league game in Syracuse and cheaper than parking near the Carrier Dome), free! scorecards, many hotties [in Pittsburgh!], awesome vistas, stupendous fireworks, a race of pirogie mascots. Lowlights: I couldn’t find any pirogies to buy; generally poor food; the scenic route chosen by the majority of our threesome took seven-plus hours. But, great time, great fans, too. They deserve a better product on the field. Oh. And we had five minutes of fame by walking in and out of the Warhol museum.

I guarantee you that some here believe that, BTW. (Referring top my last post)… actually, I hate arguing with you guys but the LU bashing truly is the dumbest thing you all do. It’s idiotic and if you go to BaseballReference yourself and do some browsing about, you’ll see how true that is. Factor on that if a guy is on the roster, he’s going to need to have SOME role. Right now Rent and Rowand are spot starters, which SHOULD make you want to party hearty, instead you’re STILL bitching…

I kind of doubt that. He’d just had his best inning of the night, and I would have thought another quick uneventful one might have fired up the team even more to do something next time through the order.

Wild night in baseball tonite, already 34 HRs hit, including 3rd of the year by Randy winn to get STL started in a rout of Philly, which is fading fast.

You really have to wonder about a guy with Kemp’s talent, and the dumb shit he does. He’s been caught stealing something like 10 times.

From the SFGate article on Jon Miller:

“Television is a passive experience,” he says. “We’re not absolutely essential to the telecast. They could do the whole thing without us. On radio, the fans are engaged with you, because they’re turning your descriptions into visual images that are strictly their own. At the same time, you can tell a good story.”

Tell that to Dave O’Brien and Rick Sutcliffe and just about every other new school TV broadcaster. They can’t shut the fuck up.
