Snakes up in about an HOUR
I’m not one of the guys afraid of AZ just because they’re playing well right now. We match up very well with them– our strike out pitchers vs their strike out hitters. How about we win 3-1 tonight?

He’s what we’d imagined Velez could be…
Triva ? Think it was Benito Santiago for the Pads , something like 33 hitting games?
Stix, agree Gonzalez was good . . . However, I question whether he did it on his own or had PEDs too.
Snarkk has to be puffing up that concave chest about now but the pitch Panda’s missing again, he was slamming, including the big double down the line the other night…
I’m stubbornly clinging to the return of vintage Velez, i.e., how he played exactly a year ago.
Kat, good call. That dude was good.. He sure cratered before hitting the H
Some ownage on Pablo and Nate was not great in his AB. But Lopez’ pitch count is high enough already that it would be a stretch for him to go past 6 IP.
Nice rack…I mean double
They’ll be hard pressed to trade 1 SP let alone 2 of them Twin…
Upton have to take a leak?
Haha. What a dumbshit move. The d-backs have so many stupid, undisiplined players….
Speaking of Velez, that was something he’d do.
Wtf was Upton doing? He’s already in scoring postion. What a bonehead play.
Someone earlier was saying they didn’t think a position player was needed. I agree with that (even after to poor showing last night) especially if it means sacrificing a front line starter. Fortify the pen.
I remember Lincecum making a statement last year that he didn’t think a move was needed. Of course we all know how those move worked out. I thought all along that Sanchez was picked up with an eye towards this year..
Is it just me, or does anyone else wish LaRoche signs a long term deal with the Royals?
Franchez is a #2 hitter. And by #2 I mean poop.
I almost want to see renteria back regularly so he can hit 2nd. Anything is better than the dung franchez is giving us in the 2 hole.
Not a good inning. Torres and Sanchez were hyperanxious. Doesn’t bother me too much about Andres after his heroics, but Freddy definitely is pressing right now. Willingham or maybe DeJesus batting in the 2-hole and Freddy 8th like i’ve been preaching for the past couple weeks would create enough “clutter” on the bases to drive most SPs to the showers in 6 innings or less.
Now i know the Horse is a good ol boy from Alabam, but KKK? Oh well, we’ll take it.
Nice work by Cain! 3up 3K’s quick work.
I want to see Cainer go the distance. Complete game shutout. Would be big for him and a nice start to the series.
“They’ll be hard pressed to trade 1 SP let alone 2 of them Twin…” I didn’t say shit about trading two SP… those were two seperate propositions. You do Sanchez plus. You pass on Cain plus unless the deal is expanded…
With Runzler down for awhile.Might be nice to go after a LH reliever like Scott Downs from Toronto.
Is Sam Elliot doing half the voice-overs on commercials nowadays? That Hollywood cowboy poser.
Bit bothered about the failure of the middle of the lineup during the Sixth. Top of the order up for the Snakes. Matt needs to stay in full control this inning as Az has the potential of putting ducks on the pond in THAT park.
I’d feel way better with about three more.
Admittedly Elliot was very good in The Mask.
Been out of the loop…work is clamping down on browsing. Fuckers.
Good stuff for today…Dago has lost, Rox have lost. Giants are up 2 zip…good stuff.
Team has won four series in a row. Keep winning series…and EVERYTHING else takes care of itself.
Go Giants!!!
My favorite in the cowboy vein was Billy Green Bush in “Culpepper Cattle Company”. Good flick.
TF, I missed the Haggard documentary, but read a number of positive reviews on the blogosphere today.
I’m not that familiar with his career, but am a big Emmylou Harris fan, and she sings his cool song Kern River on her latest album. Powerfully poignant song.
Cainer’s croozin. Beautiful piece of work. Nice to see that with only a two-run margin through 6 that Reynolds will get his AB with nobody on base.
Z: Well, we’ve both at least temporarily beaten lung cancer and have 9 wives between us, we’re cranky fucks, and as he said, we’re like that 89 YO- we wanna be 90….
I remember thinking Lifeguard was an amusing movie in my younger days. Just the other day my kids were completing the junior lifeguard program down here and I was thinking I should get Lifeguard on Netflix and see how it seems to me now.
I did something similar with “The Gauntlet.” I was afraid I wouldn’t be entertained by it as an adult—but surprisingly, I still was.
Needless to say, I’m not a real high brow guy when it comes to flicks.
Shinto serenade going on tonight at the Latrine with Kuroda facing off against Takahashi and a Bum’s lead of 1-0 going into the fifth. Wonder if this the first ML game in which both SPs were Japanese.
Ah, The Gauntlet. Love that film. One of Eastwood’s best, IMO. And Sandra Locke was very hot in that film.
I love that line in the gauntlet when Eastwood tells the corrupt police commander: “I know why you picked me for this assignment, and you were wrong.”
That extra run was huge. Uribe still showing some slash, Nate moving him up and Rowand coming through gives Cain some breathing space. 119 pitches for Lopez. He actually did a pretty good job, but we should see that BP in the 8th.
La Roche truly sucks.
Umps huddled and still didn’t get it right. I could have sworn I heard the 3rd base ump say “out.” Boobs.
Nice job by Rowand a minute ago. Extra runs always appreciated; especially in this yard.
If Travis had no chin at all, he’d look a little like LaRoche…
Constable to Clint…Fellers up there gonna want to know why you bailed out.And i’m gonna tell em.You chose sides.Got your self a little nookie and chose sides.
Clint: “I’m bringing her in.”
Panda reverts to Pablo tonight. Somehow i saw that one coming. He’s pressing. Could be due to the temptation created by the Snakepit.
Best thing with Panda for him, them, and us is to not fucking worry about it.
I agree – let Pablo be Pablo and quit trying to get in his head. By telling him to be more selective it seems he becomes less selective. He could hit a flea in a windstorm if he believes he can…so…just believe in him and the rest will take care of itself.
Now the weight…..that’s another thing entirely.
For some reason, I always remember get a kick out of the part of the constable scene where Locke is persuading Clint to stop short of the border. She makes a great argument and ends with something like “What if I’m right, Shockley? (about driving into an ambush) The state line’s an awful lonely place to find out.”
The only issue I have with Pablo is how awful he looks when he misses “hit me” pitches. He was set up to rake tonight in certain counts and he missed balls by a mile. One little hot streak mid season isn’t going to fix him. NO ONE knows what’s up with this dude. It’s probably best to just hope for the best every game…..
We love ya Matt.
Haven’t been able to see much, but Cain sure looked strong there in the 8th. Is he good for the 9th, or will it be BW?
Blalock to Clint…”Now can you handle it,or do i have to write it out on braille and shove it up your ass!”
What Flavor brings up is the mystifying thing. He’s right-Panda had slop to drive and flat missed. Not fooled, just missed ’em. We’ll see, he was like that last year and would follow with a 4 fer 4…
Was that the movie where Clint punched some biker chick in the face to knock her out of a train? Good flick.
Cain vs. Diamondbacks this year: 17 IP, 4 H, 0 R, 3 BB, 18 Ks
The thing about Pablo is he can hit the ball harder than any other Giant. We need him in the lineup as an extra-base threat every game. Let’s hope for the best.
Nice one, Kat
That would be the aforementioned Gauntlet, Mac
Yeah, Mac. She says “You wouldn’t hit a lady, would you?” As if she’s a “lady,” after having participated in the attempted rape of Locke.
I guess B-Wheezy thought he was back in the All-Star Game.
Ballgame!
Shutout! And nice call, Flav!
Congrats…beautiful day for some ballgames…
twin..I realized at dinner what you meant…I don’t think he’s gonna trade a SP this season anyway
Beautiful pitched game by Cain! Add a little Posey Torres Huff and yes Rowand and a pepto free 9th for Wilson equals a quality start to this trip in the desert.
all right dudes, great start to this trip through AZ. No “coterie of hangers on” tonight. Just hit the hotel and take ’em tomorrow. I’m out now too. Early rise tomorrow, take care of shit, then drive to Reno for a weekend of the Pot ‘o Gold tourney. I’ll hit catch you guys from there. Play nice…..
Crack physicians?
I’ve had a cocaine nose job, but never seen a crack physician . . .
Helluva game by Matty. . . .
3-1 roadie, AND vs the division. . . very good . . .
Nice game…shutout win. Padres lose. Rox lose.
Sanchez, Bum, and Timmy. Sweep would be sweet…need 3 of 4 at a minimum.
Off to Ferndale tomorrow. Couple of days on the North Coast, and then off to the Oregon coast for a few days. Will try to get on, if not, catch all you Flappers on the flip-side.
Hope you are doing well, Twin.
AND a nice job by Wilson. Matt was golden tonight and Bochy decided it was best to keep him a bit fresh. Fine by me. Returning to ten more wins than losses at 53-43 and back to 3 games behind the slowly slipping Dagos, the Giants now have the 4th best record in the NL and took over the WC lead. But like i noted the other night, the Wild Card is not what this team is aiming at. Padres young starters are adding up the innings and slowly losing their once incredible edge.
Offense, against a so-so pitcher (NOT a stiff, but marginally almost good) was little more than mediocre tonight. Panda was pressing. Schierholtz a bit overmatched. I still think we need that OBP machine batting second and playing in the OF, moving Franchez to 8th where the pressure is minimal. I suspect he’s still not 100% after his medical adventures.
Even more than the Giants, though, the Dagos are now in serious need of an offensive upgrade. Several of us saw their young starters as probably not remaining as sharp over 162. With their mostly hunt n’ peck offense, they will experience more slippage. Even their marvelous BP will not be sufficient to carry them through, so they are on the edge of desperation. They can hear those GIANT footsteps and are getting nervous. Rox are proving once again that they are not any great shakes as a road team.
So hats off to Matt the Horse, evening his record tonight at 8-8. Maybe this is the year that he pulls away from the pack with a nice winning record.
Giants plan on limiting MadBum’s innings. Could be looking at alternating starts with “The Todd.”
Fucking joke if ya ask me.
http://tinyurl.com/24lcggb
Padres already doing that with Latos, Dennis. If you want him at the end, you need to take care of him over the entire ride.
Bully for Latos and the Friars. I could give a wit. This pisses me off to no end. Our organization continues to disappoints in its efforts to “go all out.” Fuck this play it safe crap. I’m not saying you pitch him dry, but you let his results dictate your actions, not vice versa. This is like throwing up half a white flag. Anyone here looking forward to Wellemeyer starting instead of Madison? Thought not. Our organization blows.
Hell no, not looking forward to seeing the Todd, but I also don’t want to see them run our best prospect (hell, he’s beyond prospect) into the ground, either.
Fucking club won’t even allow me 15 goddamn minutes to enjoy this game when this shit comes out. Let’s “Piggyback” Madison. Are you fucking kidding me? The pussification of America and American baseball continues to amaze.
Disagree, DelMar. Bum has thrown the following during his pro career:
2008 – 141,2
2009 – 131.1
This year, between Fresno and SF – 113.1.
I would rather err on the side of caution when you consider this kid’s arm. The game (and the number of innings a pitcher throws) is just not the same as it was back in the day.
Bummie’s fucking 20 Dennis. No reason to get hm up to 200 innings this season. If Wellie can pitch here and Bummie on the road, hey, they could have a decent 2-headed 5th starter.
Yay!!!! What’s not to love about these guys!?!?!
Next year he’ll stretch it out some. no need to push him too hard now . . .
Well every one has an opinion about Madison. But as Clint Eastwood would say “Opinions are like assholes, every one has one.”
Dogs win. Boo.
Who says he can’t pitch more innings this year? Is that some hard and fastened rule written in goddamn fucking stone? Play it safe, err on the side of caution, decent 2-headed started. Sorry, but I ain’t buying the company line like you guys on this shit. Fucking horseshit is what it is.
I am not saying “he cannot” pitch more innings, but why the fuck push him and risk it?
I am not going to convince you that caution is the way to go. I believe it is…you do not.
I’m not getting wrapped around the fucking axel over it. It’ll all be good. (Yeah, I know…my fucking inner Polly comes out.)
