They’ve got 2 legit aces (we get to face the 2010 NL Cy Young winner tonight), Annibel Sanchez is a legit 3, they’ve got star power (HanRam) and regular power (Ugggggggly and Cantu)….I dunno. No closer and nothing at the back end of the rotation, I guess that’s it…..
So it seems we are “aggressively scouting Jose Guillen”. Eh, whatever. If he didn’t cost too much I could dig that a teeny tiny bit. Burrell needs to pick it up ASAP or we need to seriously consider adding someone like Guillen. Just got home from an extended afternoon and evening expecting to have to swallow the worst and oh my gawd! Matt the Horse outpitched Josh Johnson with fewer hits and walks allowed in the same number of IPs. World Series or at least playoffs level competition out on the mound until OOOOrrrrriBEEEE and Rentman had their way with the Florida bullpen.
This was a monster victory, gang. Torrid Torres raps out a couple doubles against Johnson and gets back into the SB race. Buster extends his streak . And the Giants middle infielders managed to outshine Uggla and HanRam in RBIs. The biggie was Matt matching the presumptive ’10 NL Cy Young winner. That’s exactly the kinda matchup one expects to see in the first game of the post season, and maybe the finale as well.
Giants outslugging a very good-hitting Marlins team was every bit as huge as Matt’s performance, Wilson’s 30th and Romo’s vulture win. Nobody really expected SF to win tonight and they pulled it off. Pads are not only hearing the footsteps now, but they are also sensing a Giant presence breathing on the back of their necks. This team proved tonight that they can bounce back from a tough loss the night before and did it against the ML ERA leader. Giants now have the 6th best W-L record in MLB, trailing only 3 teams in the AL and two in the Senior Circuit. If it hadn’t happened already, SF now has to be recognized as one of the elite teams in baseball. What was looking to be a split at best against Florida could sweeten up considerably with this win against their Ace (and their bullpen).

Cain threw some high fast balls, Wilson threw a 79 MPH slurve. I weasn’t making a BFD of it, Flavoro had to step in because he doesn’t like Cain. The stupidity with Matt started with the really dumbfuck remark from Dennis about his HR total passing Wellemeyer’s. Stupid. As I said, Wellfuck’s were in 58 innings, Cain’s 140+. Matt’s HRs given up are right there with other horseshit dumb pitchers like Halladay, Carpenter, Oswalt.
The remark was intended to show how shitty Wellemeyer is because he still held the lead despite all the time being on the DL.
