A Place To Talk About Giants Baseball

Today is the Last Day of the Blog….

Posted in Uncategorized by Flavor on July 30, 2010

At least,  it’s the last day for the blog the way it’s presently constructed. I’m looking at the following options and will pick one shortly:

1) throw a shitload of words into the moderator cue. That’s going to limit what we can all post here but it will solve a lot of problems too.

2) have all the comments come to me first for moderation. I do not want this to be the choice, believe me. But I’m considering it.

3) Turn it into a private blog— only users that I allow can post here. Instead of having to ban people I just set it up as private and invite people to be members. Obviously, there are 30-40 hardcore nuts here who would want to keep this place going.

4) disband the blog

5) give it to a specific person. I haven’t talked to him about this yet so I don’t know if he would do it but I think he’d be the perfect person to run the blog….

Simply put, I am tired of this place. It’s not enjoyable for me anymore.  I’m tired of all the insults. I’m tired of all the accusations of who’s posting as who or under what veiled handle. I’m tired of all the emails that complain about certain posters or my daily topics. I’m tired of coming up with daily topics every day, or find unique pictures for POTG. You guys might not know it but it takes a fair amount of time to keep this place current, fresh and interesting. I’m tired of going through each thread figuring out who needs to get zapped and who doesn’t–especially on days we win, you would think those would be happy days for Giants fans. I used to have a passion for this but I’m just…tired of all of it…..

I still have great passion for one thing, and that’s being a Giants fan. I think I need to go back to that being the priority instead of managing this place……

Not that it will be the deciding factor, but I might throw a poll up to see which of those 5 options you guys want me to pick…….

Wow. That was unnecessarily close. Our bullpen is nowhere near playoff ready.

The biggest difference between this years team and last years:
    1) the offense
    2) the bullpen (or lack thereof)

Shouldn’t really be any question about what area of this team a trade should be focused to improve.

Sorry to hear running the flap has got you down Craig. I guess I don’t follow the posts often enough these days to understand fully what your are talking about but I definitely enjoy those nights kicked back on the couch watching the game with the ability to discuss with this unique group of hardcore g’s fans. Hopefully you can get it worked out so you don’t feel like you’re babysitting.

Kemp’s was no grounder, WSW, smoked a line drive to center.
Back spasms for Wilson. He’ll be fine.

you’re right….i watched from a distance smoking on the patio. the 3rd ciggy of the inning! BW had me cutting down to just 1 in the 9th…

And the trainer was with Uribe in the dugout prior to the replacement by Edgar. Between that and Wilson, about 100 Splashers had Botchyball fits. Typical.

Pawlie will agree…The vibe for the game changed after the force and no dp for the 1st out of the 9th, atdhe lost the feed, and I had to turn on Scully, local FOX…

No offense to Chris Ray, but we need some serious help in the BP. I don’t follow the game well enough to know who might be available (I specialize in the G-men), but this is getting down right scary!

Krukow, king of the understatement: The ninth inning got ‘eventful’…lol!

Vern and Vera must be in town, Whitey behind the dish tomorrow. Still no word if Buster gets full or half day off.

I’ll take it, ugly though the ninth was. Giants beat the Dodgers and the Padres lost. Productive night.

Figured I would come here to find out what happened to Wilson…Then I see Flav’s header…This blog was an intregal part of my baseball life up until the middle of April when my laptop crashed…Concurrently my job has left me with little downtime…I still don’t watch Giants games, without thinking of many of you guys…Believe me, I often go to sleep wondering what you guys think is wrong with Panda and why Lincecum just doesnt look the same…However, this team is pretty special and I have a gut feeling that 2010 could be one for the ages…I hope Flav doesnt throw in the towel, but if he does I will understand…Every time I get frustrated with Sandoval’s lackluster at bats or concerned with Timmy’s lost velocity, somebody(usually Huff or Torres) does something to shut me up…That just kind of sums up this season of Giants baseball…Sometimes it’s best to just shut up and enjoy the game.

There is NOTHING in an almost comeback that creates momentum. Nothing. Dodgers lost the fucking gamne and if anything the “almost” makes it worse. As far as the pen, here’s my post on the Splash on that:
“What is astounding actually is the amount of flak Bochy gets for the pen when his management of what is indeed a very suspect pen, has been practically miraculous. As a staff they have just 11 blown saves in 47 opportunities, tied for best percentage in the NL. With Casilla, Bautista, and Runzler and Affeldt when they were healthy all walking the ballpark, Mota inconsistent, Ray off and on, it’s a frigging miracle that it’s barely hurt them. That’s Bochy.”
As far as another arm, maybe I’d rather see about Willis first, and maybe Edlefson. You guys know anything about Wilson Ramos? Maybe the best catching prospect other than Wieters amnd Posey. For MATT CAPPS???! Be careful…
Talk of Lilly and Theriot to the Bums, BTW. Get Bautista. Jose.

    • Cal_Stim25's avatar Cal_Stim25 said, on July 30, 2010 at 11:52 pm

Hardly. Carlos Santana? Heard of him?

And Ramos is behind Joe Mauer? Huh.

  29. Del Mar Dennis's avatar delmardennis said, on July 30, 2010 at 11:26 pm

Rather see Willis or Edlefsen first, in the heat of a pennant chase? Surely you jest. Next you’ll be saying it was a good thing using Dirty out of the pen. Desperate cry for help is what that was. Less than 14 hrs. till the deadline, something better get done. The other contenders are not standing pat. I humbly suggest we do the same. If Lilly and Theriot both head to the Bums, that’s not gonna help any. Adrianza, Burriss, Pill among others could garner us both and arm and bat. Do it Brain.

Oh, Furcal was on base all five times tonight. He’s 17 for 34 w/ 10 runs scored, OPS of 1.358 vs us this yr.
He’s gonna reach base in first inning tomorrow anyway. Might as well leave a mark. Plunk his ass.

Is it any coincidence that the Possibly Related Posts is giving the link to the 1st day of this blog???

    If not, that’s just weird . . .

Unca– that was a coincidence, I found that weird to. Those are automatically generated…..
