Great Win
Of course I saw none of it up in the Idaho mountains but the last 50 or so posts from you guys told me it was a “great win”. I’m only changing the date on the POTG, obviously. We go up 3-0, then it’s tied 4-4, still we find a way to win. Gutty team performance to take back the lead and the win, that’s what playoff teams do….
I’m 110% behind the Fontenot pick up. I haven’t read what others have said about it yet, will try to later this morning. He was already taking time away from Theriot before he was traded to the Dodgers. I remember when those to came onto the scene, the Cubs felt like they had found their middle infield for the next 5 years. But, sometimes things don’t always work out as planned. Fontenot will be fine, I was actually a little surprised by how few SB’s he had but maybe I was thinking of Theriot. Regardless, we gave up NADA and now have a legit mlb option to plug into 3rd or 2nd and Bochy won’t feel hamstrung to have to play Pablo or Freddy all the time…..
Congrats…wudda been a…. never mind!
HE IS THE MAN!
Torres is clutch personified. Way to go Yungo!
Fuck yeah!
Bring on Dago!
Whew, that was exciting!!
Got to love this!!
Byrd AIN’T the word . . . .
Outstanding! Now it’s time to go beat some quality teams. I want .500 or better in the next 12 games vs. SD, PHI, STL & CIN. After that, our strength of schedule gets much easier.
First things first…time to cash in on Dirty’s prediction. SWEEP THE PADS!!!
Fully agree.
Andres Torressssssssss !!!!!!!!!!
Who woulda thunk it at the beginning of the year, that this year’s REGULAR fucking heros would be guys like Burrell, Torres, Posey, etc. Fuck yeah!
Pepto and tequila again.
IEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE Go Giants
Workmanlike win, just like I called it, right? (grin)
uh, heroes…that is…ah hell…you get it!
Fuck Yeah!
ORANGE AND BLACK FOREVER!
I’m jumping on the Dirty bandwagon rightmotherfuckingnow. Bold predictions be damned.
We’re gonna sweep those nogoodcocksuckingpuppykickinggrandmapushing Friars right outta town.
S W E E P !
I’m with Denny…SWEEP those MOTHERFUCKERS back to SoCal!!!
And Dirty is the first in the queue/on the hill. Is that poetic fuckikng justice. Time to nut up and give it to ’em, Dirty.
Right on Chi. There shall be no more Sabean bashing for the rest of the year. Watching chronile live yesterday and listening to how Fontenot is not enough, because they still need a bat. Fuck that BS. Sabes brought in Huff, Burrell acquired Torres and drafted Posey. That’s 4 solid bats. Now if Panda comes around…watch out. Sabean earned his paycheck this year.
notice how the team is winning and Botchy fades into the background. Every year he has been here we have improved season standing.
I’ve never had a problem with Bochy, Sabean on the other hand…I’ve had my issues. Rent and Rownd still piss me off for the money they’re making, but I can’t say that about the moves he’s made this year. All of them, even Franchez, I think were right on.
Back in ST, who would’ve thought the middle of the LU would be jam packed with hitters? If Pablo’s back, they’ve got the bats.
I was hoping that Huff and DeRosa would be at least serviceable and that Sabean would have to trade for a big bat. None of that happened. DeRosa goes down, Huff has MVP numbers, and Sabes gets Burrell for the pro-rated minimum without having to give up anything. Unbelievable.
After this, they need 8 strong from Sanchez.
Exactly.
Now that was drama. Rowand’s one hit of the game, a broken bat single and a dusted-up uniform. Sanchez does his job. So do Huff and Posey. Good eyes. Once it got to the secret weapon off the bench (who didn’t have to do a lot of running today) it was pretty much a foregone conclusion. Wish MLB’s rules were a bit different as that was a GR double in all truth and would have added to Torres’ total as he’s juuuust trailing Werth and also now is 5th in SBs and is fast climbing the ladder in walk-off hits.
Wilson gets a rare win, though he sure earned a save as well, but they can’t count both ways. Generally, Bochy manages his BP better than he did in the eighth. Starting with Ray was okay in terms of rest, etc. but bringing in Mota was bad, bad, bad. He should have brought in Romo right there. Of course, that would have cost all the drama in the 9th, but i don’t know if any power-washer out there will be able to remove all the sweat from my teeshirt from those two innings ~ and i’m only a fan.
Big thing is the walk-off win. Incredible confidence builder going into the upcoming series with the current Divisional leaders, that team from north suburban Tijuana.
and an early lead, SD BP has been strong this year
Holy shit! I step away for a moment and the Giants play into another classic finish? Beautiful. Sanchez is in the spotlight tomorrow night, first place is within grasp. Wow.
Gotta hand it to the Cubbies, shitty record and all, they played hard and they hung tough. But they came unglued. How we survived was a miracle. Thank Christ we’re over Macho Grande.
Yeah, the spotlight sure is trained on Jonathan.
Someone call his dad amd tell him to hit the game . . .
Win one for the Zipper, Dennis . . .
I hate to admit it but a Dodger win over Philly would come in handy today.
I guess the devil’s advocate in me might say fuck the Dodgers and the wild card. Let’s take it straight to the Padres and win the division outright.
The Gianst controll their fate in the west. That’s all they should be focusing on for the moment.
FUCK the Dodgers AND Philly. The Giants just need to take care of busines and win fuckking ball games and series. THAT is the key.
I can’t remember if this was mentioned….Chipper Jones out for the season with a torn up knee.
Sucks for the Braves, but good for the wild card race. I didn’t see them holding off Philly with them getting Howard and Rollins back.
Tejada just gave Dago an early lead. C’mon bucs, do SOMETHING!
Jones’ numbers were down this year, but he got several clutch hits for them this year, and was still a batter that pitchers had to worry about in the Braves lineup. Now Heyward has to take the kind of load on his shoulders that Buster has already had to do. It’s a true even-field battle for Rookie of the Year now.
All of the WC contenders are better than the Padres. Division is the way to go.
Right, Twin. And I stick to my earlier prediction (one you had, too)…Giants will win the West.
I love Torres!!!!!!Great story too…
That BBQ looks good!
Our “lead off” hitter scored two runs today including the game winner. That’s worthy of shutting up, at least for today.
J Sanchez bold statement would be the best of all time if he No Hit the Pads again!
Looking ahead to SD, Richard has been getting knocked around lately and, to a lesser degree, so has LeBlanc. Bumgarner/Latos could turn out to be a key matchup and a damn good one to boot.
Division is the way to go. But San Diego is as good the WC contenders. Right now they’re better.
Goddamn Pirates are lying down like a cheap rug vs the Friars. Three measly hits thru 8 at Petco. They blow. No denying that Tejada and Ludwick have already paid big dividends for the Padres. Know what, fuck them. First ABs at AT&T show ’em who’s boss.
” I want to give him the heat and announce my presence with authority!” If that includes a plunking or two, that’d be fine and dandy with me. This shit is big time tomorrow. No pussying around. The little kiddie game is down the street. Nothing but the big boys at this table, sonny. Time for a Phil Hellmuth classic trap with the pigeon drawing dead while holding the goddamn motherfucking nuts on the river. We’re going “All-in” this weekend and felt those bastards. Sorry, Padres, time to hit the rail and watch the Giants win the bracelet.
One thing you’ve gotta admit about this “new” team: they fight all the way until the last out. Gotta love it!
Bummed I missed this one.I’ve got no clue how we do against the pads but I still love our attitude going in: we are a different team, and THIS is our team motherfuckers!!!!
So what’s the feeling around these parts: Are the Giants or Padres the better team right now? Why? Compare and contrast, etc.
Why don’t you start, Goodbye? Show your chops.
tick tock…
i see he didn’t want to follow with that thread….The Giants are going to beat Richard tomorrow night, likely pummel him. The ending of his little Cinderella Story started last week…….
I’d have a problem with what Dirty said if he wasn’t opening the series, especially if he wasn’t going at all. But for better or worse he’s put this on his own shoulders more than anyone else’s. Certainly adds some spice…
Hey Flav! Any cute little 60 year old Asian men out there to remind you of me?
What the hell you guys worrying about? Tomorrow is Orange Friday. Nothing more need be said.
Game over. Ballgame. Book it.
After what Drrty said, I’d have Rowand leadoff tomorrow. The pads may want to plunk the leadoff guy with the first pitch and let’s face it…Rowand’s got the most experience
let’s “face” it was unintended. Sorry Aaron
Absolutely stick a fork in the Dodgers. Blew a 9-2 lead against Philly, with Broxton giving up 5 runs in the bottom of the ninth. Torre was pissed at him. The angriest I’ve ever seen Torre. Nothing super demonstrative. Just looked Broxton right in the eyes in the middle of that inning and used very measured words to challenge Broxton’s manhood.
He didn’t “”challenge” Broxton’s manhood. He questioned it.
Mr Miyagi?
There was a funny thing going on at the end of the Dodger/Philly game. A young kid was sitting behind one of the dugouts and using his hands to put a hex on Broxton before every pitch. The broadcast kept going back to the kid as the inning kept going downhill for the Dodgers. That kid is in a car on the way home absolutely convinced he won that game for the Phils.
Oooh. Delayed reaction there. That was for DJLoo.
So, the one fricking time LA can help, they lay down like the dogs they are? Typical.
Problem is, very few cute little 60 year old Asian men.
That being said, I’ve seen quite a few cute 60 year old Asian women. An not all “little”
Broxton has lost faith in his stuff. He was afraid to throw strikes. Tried to dink around. Hit a guy and walked two guys to load the bases. Then Casey Blake allowed a potential doubleplay grounder to go between his legs. Then Ruiz ripped a double off the top of the wall. Ballgame.
Wow Raiders are in midseason form. Half way thru the 4th q, 0 points, they just got tagged for roughing the passer, and pass interference. This after missing a 32 yard FG.
God. How little I care chuck is beyond language.
Raiders?
Come on! Kyle Boller is throwing strikes for the Raydurrrrrrrrrrrrrs.
Fucking Greg Papa is talking like this team is a juggernaut. I think they just got their 2 1st down. Its almost over . . .
Giants aren’t on tonight, What do I watch, dancing with the stars?
You *really* gotta invest in a DVR
Casey Blake was distracted by a 60 year old cute Asian man in the stands
Chuckles, FORGET WC thoughts, Dodgers burying themselves is by far the better choice. Win the division and home field , that’s the goal.
Hey, can’t discount going thru the side door. Sure the division is the way to go, but any port in a storn.
Or any stort in the porn
yeah, I think you meant “back door” chuck
Sorry, I never go back door . . .
Plus, with the Chipper Jones injury, the Phils are far more likely to win that division, IMO.
When it’s said and done I see SF, Cards, Phils winning the divisions, Atlanta the WC, SD and the Reds out.
The problem with the Wild Card, IMO, is the Reds and Cards pounding on the other 4 teams in that Central division.
Bleating and babbling we fell on his neck with a scream
Wave upon wave of demented avengers
March cheerfully out of obscurity into the dream.
Have you heard the news?
The dogs are dead!
You better stay home
And do as you’re told
Get out of the road if you want to grow old.
Have you heard the news?
(News? What news?)
Can’t afford no shoes
(Shoes? can’t afford no paper)
That song is for the Padres.
Chuckles, sure you take what you can get, but I’d say the division is just more takeable. And I do NOT want the Dodgers hanging around. Fucking Manny would find a new drug and hit 30 Hr the rest of the way. BURY those cocksuckers.
Isn’t that a Robert Loggia line from SCARFACE?
Loved the hang job outta the helicopter. Nice touch.
No, it’s “Bury that little cockaroach . . .”
Who would’ve thought The Giants would be slugging out victories. I missed the game but read the box. What a game, huh?
Lots of stories about Burrell being stoked for Rowand last night. I was thinking the same thing last night when the camera panned over after the Rowand blast. Someone mentioned that Burrell has a reputation as a jerk in the club house but he sure seems pretty happy to me. Serious but happy. Isn’t Burrell from Ben Lomond or up in the Santa Cruz hills somewhere? If so that probably explains his demeanor. Dudes from up in them hills are a bit off.
As you may recall, on 9/16/66, the Giants won their 14th consecutive game to go 5 up in the loss column on LA. That same day, the Dodgers began a 13 game winning streak that would carry them to the pennant.
Make that 1965.
MIght as well be 1865.
1966…1965, what does it matter? 2010!! Now that matters
The Dogs would have to like 31-16 to even sniff the playoffs (90 wins). No freaking way. SD and the Giants wuld have to crater. SD goes 24-25 (and the G’s go 25-21) they are both still ahead of LA.
Tom Flores sounds like a complete moron, BTW . . .
Jim Plunkett gives him a good running. As Bill Walton would say, “Horrrrrrrrible.”
First Loo sends me sausages that poisoned the neighborhood kids, now he reminds us of epic collapses. The “Parmigiano Reggiano” turned out to be a Wichita domestic romano, the olives were simply spoiled, salted canned Lindsay’s… next we’ll find out he’s a tall British guy…
’65 was a bummer. Twins would have handled SF.
The Age of the Harmon
2 knocks for Franchez. He was showing good patience and swings last night. If he could get it going….
I think it’s the thong…
The Giants have won 25 of 35 since July 5 (my birthday). And they’ll have their Orange Friday mojo going, too. They’re 9-0 when wearing their orange tops.
Padres need not apply tomorrow. Game. Set. Match. You guys should take out the wife and kids to Chucky Cheese and play a little skee-ball tomorrow night. No need to worry about tomorrow outcome, it’s in the motherfucking bag.
When that guy gets tossed from the helicopter, I remember Scarface saying “I never liked that guy.”
Remember who the actor was that got tossed? Went on to win an Oscar
Yes, sir. F. Murray Abraham won the Best Actor for the leading role in “Amadeus.” Tom Hulce (Wolfgang) was also nominated for Best Actor in a leading role. Not too often to you get two gentleman from the same movie up for the leading role. Fanfuckingtastic film. 10 ********** (no question mark)
Yeah, Scarface was the bomb . . .
Surely yer not talking Amadeus???
I am talking “Amadeus,” and don’t call me Shirley.
Fruckie had a maybe his best all around game as a Giant. You know, I recall a hand still sticking up after I buried him yesterday. You definitely have to bury these “Freddy” guys real well….I’m delighted if he turns it around.
Xoot said somrething about Freddy and Panda and doomers. Doomers anticipate and find happiness in failure. Pollies lament it.
F. Murray Abraham. Won the Oscar for Amadeus.
And chuck, your quote was Pacino, not Loggia
I know . . . I just like that line . . .
I think Torre was tempted to throw Broxton from a helicopter.
He’d volunteer to tie the knot. “Any last words?” Where’d my fastball go?
Anybody ketch Romo at the fan fest BBQ.He said Posey not only should be ROY but also Giants MVP.
