“What if We’d Lost that Game?????”
I can’t shake that question and can’t imagine this place if we hadn’t won that game. And yet I still don’t know how we won it. We had no chance to win. Yet when we went extra innings I was CERTAIN we were gonna win it. Doesn’t make sense, I know….
Our bullpen has quietly turned into one of the most reliable cogs on our team. 4 innings of no run ball yesterday, 3.2 innings of no run ball the day before. And it’s been EVERYONE…….
The ONLY thing I’m worried about today is that Timmy tries to hard. Just let it flow, baby. LeBlanc isn’t a chump but he’s totally beatable and Tim’s lost to a few guys like this in 2010…
Regardless, today is huge. Not a must win since we have several more games against the Padres this year, but if Timmy is going to be a part of this TODAY needs to be his day. Very few of the Pads hit him even moderately well….
Yeah- yesterday’s win was remarkable. Latos was in complete control, and then Panda finally connected on one of those high fastballs that he swings at sometimes. And boom! Whole new ballgame. In fact, it wouldn’t have gone extra innings except that Posey wasn’t able to get a runner in from third with one out, when he hit that shot right at the shortstop.

Timmy needs to find his control today. Stop going 2-1 and 3-1 on so many hitters. Have faith in his stuff. Use the big ballpark.
Like you Flav, I’ve been out of town recently (SCUBA dive trip), but trying to keep up with G-Men news via my laptop . . . Overall, they have been playing great despite Giants starters being winless in their last 11 games (recording six losses and five no-decisions). As you alluded to, the win last night was unbelievable. Pads had their best pitcher looking almost as dominant as he did in May when he pitched a one-hitter, recording 9 SOs last night. Additionally, per the article I read this morning, San Diego stranded 16 runners, including the bases loaded in the eighth and two runners each in the ninth, 10th and 11th innings. Couple that with the Pads having won 5 straight, you scratch your head and say, “fuckin’ eh? How the fuck rover did we win last night?”
Anywho, I don’t question it . . . just accept it and savor the win 🙂
Marichal’s lifetime record vs. Dodgers @ Candlestick: 21-4
That is the definition of an ace.
Tim needs to make a statement today.
Loo – Tremendous stat. Marichal was sometimes knocked for missing key starts and padding numbers vs. chumps.
In response to BF’s post headline, the sole consequence of a loss Sat. would be gathering a search party and finding the ledge where Decap and his band of foam No. 1 hands would be threatening to jump from. Whatever happens, it’s still too early to worry about final standings. Roadie vs. Phils and homer vs. Reds have no less import. Keep grinding.
Good points on Timmy, Zoom. He does need to trust in his stuff and play to the park and his fielders.
Lots of contributions yesterday: Bumgarner outpitching Latos on one level ~ he went one more full inning. Giants hitters must be credited for drawing out those counts against the Padres ace even though they didn’t seem to be doing much run-wise until Panda upset the whole applecart by tomahawking that high fastball. The bullpen kept the Dago hitters frustrated by letting some get on base and then consistently pulling the plug like Lucy pulling the football just as Charlie Brown was launching his kick.
Then there was Buster. Pete Rose won the title of Charlie Hustle playing for the Reds and Phils. In the final analysis of yesterday’s game it was Buster scrambling for second after Hairston just missed that bleeder, deflecting it into the outfield. We are told that one reason Posey is a catcher is that he’s not particularly fast. Tell that to the Padres. In my book he won the Rookie of the Year award on that one daring play yesterday afternoon. It also won the ballgame.
Bum settled down after that long first inning. What was that total for him, 26, 28 pitches? Late in the game I noted he was cruising to 80 while Latos was topping 100. And that is when Latos gave up the HR to Pablo (not that it was a mistake pitch, at the fucking shoulders, but it sure didn’t move). Anyway, Bum kept the game tight and the pen did too, into extras. The Giants beat the Pad at their own game.
NYT today has a full recap of last week iin the Giants/SD race, game by game. Some people still appreciate exciting races, apparently.
I said Friday that today’s game was the most important of the three. Of course, if they hadn’t won yesterday that would be painfully obvious. But now it’s the ace, returning to his original windup. No predictions or pronouncements from him. He just has to get it done, and continue to get it done for the next 6 weeks. The win yesterday kept them even, toe to toe. A win today will be a huge blast toward the Div. title.
Just got a thought. What would happen if Timmy reverted to form today and stays there? I’d be curious as to how Mr “reverts to form” over at the Splash would handle that.
The mighty Giants are depending on a “Timmy.” Not only that but he’s THE Timmy!
I’d agree with you guys most of the time this year when Timmy struggled. he just needs to trust his stuff, but that doesn’t seem to be what happened his last start vs. the Cubs. In the first inning, he was trusting his stuff and going right after batters. The result was hit, hit, hit, home run and 4-0 after a half inning. I don’t think it was as much his confidence last start as it was his stuff just wasn’t there. Timmy needs to find his stuff early today, then he can trust it. Come on Big Time Timmy Jim, we need this one. Time to dominate like you can.
The Giants and Pads starters collective stats are pretty much the same this year, with the exception of Latos’ Timmy like numbers this year. If Lincecum had his usual ERA, we’d be in first right now, not the Padres. Tim’s having a good year, but the expected ace numbers are an unfortunate lack.
I suspect he’s lost some edge because the change up — which usually ends up out of the strike zone — is not being set up by the 95 mph fastball.
James. I suspect you’re right about that. And Jed you are also correct, every game counts the same. But if they lost yesterday, and Timmy loses today, I think this team would be DOA on Monday…..
Just to be clear, I’m not “blaming” Lincecum for anything. If he pitches as well as he has this year for the next 6 seasons, I’d take that.
CF Torres
C Posey
1B Huff
LF Burrell
RF Guillen
3B Sandoval
SS Uribe
2B Sanchez
P Lincecum
Ya beat me to it, WSW. A little different. I like the runt hitting 8th. Buster 2nd? Why not, it can’t fucking hut.
Back to the Niner game I go. See ya guyd for first pitch, I hope. Somebody tell TF that Alex Smith still sucks. : )
Man I like that Lineup today.Moving Posey to the 2 hole, who can hit to right well and see more fastballs if Torres reaches base.Could see alot of 1st and 3rd situations with the boppers coming up.
I thought the key yesterday was Panda’s HR.Nothing was happening off of Latos at that point. He was dominating us,and that shot not only rejuvenated the bench,it knocked Latos out of the game.2 great positives in one AB.
The 4 players with the best OBPs one after another at the top of the order. I like it.
Slept in today, missed the first half Dennis. 3 for 9? That’s .333, pal. Leading the NL…
David Carr 8 for 10 for 102 yds.
Shit, that’s got Triple Crown written all over it.
David Carr to Tony Curtis for a TD. He’s gonna connect with Jack Lemmon and Marilyn next.
Maybe the offense takes the pressure off Tim and just bombs this guy right out…
Too early for you start in on Alex, Fuckwad. You have a few hundred Bochy coronaries still to go.
Carr looked pretty good, Mike. I know. It’s early. Good to see Carr looking good though. . .
Dixon was a bright spot, more versatile than Coffee anyway.
Lincecum looking pretty good early, too.
Maybe it’s just the sunlight, but doesn’t it seem clear Lincecum has better stuff out of his old windup? On that 3-0 pitch to Ludwick he threw a 4 seamer I think, took something off it to be sure he’d get the strike, and let it cruise in at 91. His full-on two-seamers were hotter than that in the first. I don’t think Lincecum’s lost anything.
Cousin Itt bringing his good stuff early striking out 3.Let’s get some runs early!
Brother Samson, kat.
I’d rather Guillen had earned his way to batting in the five-hole. Pablo should have been in that spot as he has been Pandacacious lately.
Amy G looks half way doable today— she’s hit or miss…..guillen swings harder than uribe, I like him
How quickly things change.
Jesus H. Christ. He’s all fucked up. Did he call daddy? I was trying to catch a little of the “Father Knows Best Show” this morning during the Niner game, but it didn’t sound like they had talked “delivery” since his last start.
Motherfucking Christ now. This could get ugly. Timmy is shot.
Den, he said he was 26 and didn’t need a baby sitter. Maybe pops got pissed about the pot bust and they aren’t talkin.
Don’t know. If I’m the Giants I’m putting papas Lincecum and Sanchez on the payroll and parking their respective asses in the dugout.
You guys know what’s coming…Get a goddamn motherfucking haircut you look like a fool and a goddamn little girl. You’re pitching like one as well. He’s fucked up.
Dennis, his pitches haven’t been bad. Calm down.
well, that pitch to tejada was bad. None of the rest, really, however.
Timmy needs help. You can’t go changing your goddamn delivery every other week. Help the poor kid out, call dad.
It’s officiak: The Freak Sucks.
Unbelievable … Tejada is completely washed up. Gwynn hits a line drive once a week, and Cabrera was sent to the minors. Ace can’t get any of them out. Crap
Buster hitting 2nd is dumb over managing. Guillen hasn’t done shit for us. Why fix what aint broke?
Official, too.
Are they showing a replay of the Niner game? Fuck this. Call his goddamn father already. Do something. Call a shrink. The kid isn’t right. We’re fucked.
fucking incompetent took three pitches to get A-Gone out. He sucks.
Tim will be fine (I hope) but where is Rags? An ace changing his windup mid season is dumb. Like (the old dominant) Tiger changing swings day before the Masters. Use the offseason for that shit. Now Tim has to get used to the “new” windup again…Has anyone older than me (45) ever seen a pitcher at his level doing something like this?
Same fucking pitch. ball, ball, strike, ball , ball.
Yesterdays win is growing larger. Christ, imagine if we’d lost that game?!???!!! The mind boggles….Freddy sanchez fucking sucks balls…
Yeah, Xoot, we always be looking for the shutdown pitch after that 4th run of the inning.
Fontenot can’t possibly be worse against lefties than what Sanchez just showed there.
Yow. Junkballers usually feast on the G’s. They have to stay patient. Although those 2 3-0 counts didn’t get them shit . . .
Post AS: ERA exactly 1 run higher; batters hitting .50 pts higher. (39 IP)
Call daddy.
Alright … if you can come back from 2-0 vs. Latos et al, you can come back from 4-0 vs. this guy. … Unless he’s going to get strike calls on pitches a foot outside.
What, they’re batting .650 off him?
That’s .050 . . .
.283 now, compared to .232 pre-AS. Are you at the game, Chuck? Blame it all on your stoopid ass.
Wow, just turned on the game. Looks like Tim is still lost in the woods. Unbelievable. He’s gone from Cy to The Todd in a matter of weeks.
WTF?
Sportsdude. I agree and mentioned the same thing a few days ago. When does the defending 2 time cy young pitcher start tinkering with a new delivery mid season? Zito did it last year (or maybe it was when he first got here). Either way, it is a move that can’t bode well …..
Somewhere they missed a strike.
Listen up, Fuckwadian Club: if our fourth motherfucking starter is going to be getting your grief for giving up 3 and a half runs a game,I’d better hear some critiicism for Pigeon Boy. His biggest start of the year and he puts them behind 4 before everybody is in their seats? Based on performance the last couple months, he is the FIVE.
I know that comment wasn’t directed at the Mad Hatter. I’ve been on his ass like flies on shit ALL the time. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I’m of to a Tea Party. Where’s Alice?
Gee, ya think? He;s fucking up wildly and can’t seem to get outs.
But these are main;y bleeders so far.
Gee. Way to play that, Panda.
Giveaway day at Pac bell.
Today’s poll on CSN…. Are you concerned that Tim has altered his mechanics? Fucking might as well say ‘If you lit your right arm on fire, do you think it would feel uncomfortable?’
Kruk talks about breaks like they’re luck or something. Fuck that, u make your own breaks. Fucking execute. The padres have done it and we haven’t. Nice throw, Pablo, fuxk—exactly what I’m talking about
Fuck Panda that’s the easiest play in baseball to make for a DP!!! Get your shit together along with Tim.
A couple bleeders, also a rocket that turned into a DP. But now Panda gave them a run so the whole fucking fiasco can be blamed on him.
Exactly, Flav. Leadoff walk started the 2nd-inning mess and another one started this one.
Couldn’t have a better time for an off day after the bullpen gets used for 3 or 4 today, eh?
This blows. . . I just don’t have the psychic energy to suffer through it…we had better be ahead after my nap. . . Yours, Rip Van W.
when it goes bad it all goes.
TF is right, Lincecum is not having an ace year and has proved he is human. but the freak will battle and if there is anyway he can get his pitches working he will start shutting down the pads.
It’s magic inside. (Black magic. Voodoo.)
Time for some orange and black magic!
Obviously this gm is on tim. But don’t pretend Pablo didn’t totally fuck that throw up. I know he’s immune to criticism from you, but still
…not having an ace year? Thats an understatement. He’s morphed into the Todd. He could figure things out and no-hit the pad the rest of the way and we’d still have one hell of a time winning this series.
I like the way Uribe showed Pablo how to air one out … what a throw that was. Frozen rope right on bullseye
I KNOW Torres is not going to bunt … he apparently doesn’t feel competent … but that was a spot as a rally builder right there, wasn’t it. And his numbers aren’t much from the ride side, no?
THERE you go . . .
Making some noise
It’s Sunday, y’all know what Jesus did on a Sunday now don’tcha?
RING AROUND THE POH-ZEEEEEEEEEEEE !!
Are we allowed to praise posey for that bomb or should we hate on him for some of his shitty at bats a week ago?
I noticed his uniform was a little out of place. 5 demerits.
Straight Away Center power for Posey Nice!!!
Gotta hope Tim can somehow gut this out. I think the pen is gassed.
Chuck, are you at the game? I’m gonna blame all this shit on you.
Anthony Dixon looked great. He goes by A.D. So call’em A.D. from now on.
Hey, we have a Jesus and A.D. You can’t make that shit up.
