A Place To Talk About Giants Baseball

“What if We’d Lost that Game?????”

Posted in Uncategorized by Flavor on August 15, 2010

I can’t shake that question and can’t imagine this place if we hadn’t won that game. And yet I still don’t know how we won it. We had no chance to win. Yet when we went extra innings I was CERTAIN we were gonna win it. Doesn’t make sense, I know….

Our bullpen has quietly turned into one of the most reliable cogs on our team. 4 innings of no run ball yesterday, 3.2 innings of no run ball the day before. And it’s been EVERYONE…….

The ONLY thing I’m worried about today is that Timmy tries to hard. Just let it flow, baby. LeBlanc isn’t a chump but he’s totally beatable and Tim’s lost to a few guys like this in 2010…

Regardless,  today is huge. Not a must win since we have several more games against the Padres this year, but if Timmy is going to be a part of this TODAY needs to be his day. Very few of the Pads hit him even moderately well….

Actually, Flav, that’s totally bullshit, I’ve criticized him all year and that throw did cost one of the 5 runs. I pretend NOTHING. But I don’t make excuses for the fuck who gave up 4 of the runs and is LUCKY ( the shot to Huff), it wasn’t SIX..

Games over , Timmy giving back those Runs in the next inning or 2 . Giants just can’t bea sd and we will be missing the playoffs for a 7 straight year because of it

There’s a diff between criticism and the shit Panda has endured from the Blog Potatoes. Now let’s see if Timmy Tranny can get ’em back in the dugout without more damage. ( just some of what Panda and Molina and Sanchez put up with)

Giants’ luck to have their franchise player washed up at 26? I’m not sure you can be worse than giving up 6 to this lineup, in this park. However, this will probably make him 13-13 lifetime in August and September.

    • swickman's avatar swickman said, on August 15, 2010 at 2:26 pm

The thing that comforts me is that the Padres didn’t exactly hit the cover off the ball. I’d be more concerned if they were raking hard doubles.

Iit cannot be denied that there is a tacit but powerful bias toward having white superstars. That’s not on you personally, Flavorette, so don’t again be so arrogant as to presume it’s directed at you. Panda had an incredible first full year, he’s an engaging, energetic, intelligent young man… yet we heard more about Posey as the “face of the franchise” this year vbefore Buster ever got a fucking hit. There is ZERO doubt that is due to the colors of their skins.

  48. Michael's avatar Michael said, on August 15, 2010 at 2:44 pm

I’m not wrong, it’s just a bigger cultural issue than a guy who brags about not reading books is prepared to handle.. but just on today’s game. If they lose it is on ONE man : Tim Lincecum…
Guillen was limping the whole fucking way. That’s either his “default” run or he’s fucking hurt.

  49. Billy's avatar Billy said, on August 15, 2010 at 2:45 pm

Yeah i’m with you there james. There was no rust there or not reading the ball right. He was slower than a wet week all the way around.

  50. Flavor's avatar bigflavor said, on August 15, 2010 at 2:45 pm

Look he’s 34 and he’s not fast. He ran out of gas he hasn’t played much lately. He had a bad quad, it’s possible he reinjured if but that’s not what an injured quad looks like. He was running hard, not favoring either leg, and he really ran about the same speed from first to third.

  51. Flavor's avatar bigflavor said, on August 15, 2010 at 2:46 pm

I’ll admit I only watched one replay but he didn’t look to be limping at all. He was running hard, just slow.

  52. TellItGoodbye's avatar TellItGoodbye said, on August 15, 2010 at 2:53 pm

Lincecum stunk, and of course it’s on him … but the Gmen racked up 2 off of a weak pitcher who didn’t throw a lot of strikes.

  53. Flavor's avatar bigflavor said, on August 15, 2010 at 2:54 pm

and if Guillen is injured, why the hell did Bochy keep him in the game? It’s 7-2, seems to me to be a perfect time to bring Nate in to spell our “injured” right fielder……

-Guillien hasn’t played much and ran out of gas after 2base

-Woulda been a run and a momentum builder otherwise.

  64. zumarust's avatar zumarust said, on August 15, 2010 at 3:26 pm

The problem with losing to the Padres is that we were even farther back from then it looks. A loss puts the Giants 3 1/2 games back, but 5 back in the loss column. That’ll be tough making up those 5 games in the next month and a half. Plus, the Giants end the season with 3 against the Padres.
There’s a scenario where the Padres wrap up the division before the last weekend, and don’t care about those last 3 games, and that helps the Giants win the Wild Card.

One thing is clear beyond Timmy’s meltdown is the total fritzoff of Mota. He has been horseshit a bunch lately. Whoever of Affeldt/Runzler is ready the soonest must take over from Guillermo. He doesn’t belong on a contender. Certainly not at this stage of the season.

Mentioned before going out to pick onions and do some weeding and mowing that Bochy erred in batting Guillen in the five-hole. He hadn’t earned that slot and he is a bonehead. Some of his buddies who speak the same language as their first go-round need to have a talk with him about his moves on the bases. When he plays he should be batting seventh or eighth. I do like him as the stinger in the tail.

As for Timmy, time may tell, but it looks like the team may be short an ace.
