*L*–incecum……
Welll, he wasn’t horrible. He wasn’t all that great, either. Bottom line is that Lincecum got out-pitched again and we get another L for his *efforts*. Unfortunately, Tim’s starts are starting to feel a lot like the “Zito starts” from his first couple of years with us. Tight. Everyone on edge. All eyes on the MPH board. That’s not the way we want this team playing during a pennant race. Tim’s starts are not only ineffective, they’ve become a distraction to the team…..
Speaking of Zito, today we get to lean on him for a critically needed quality start. Ugh……
Willied, if you dig The Doors, the movie is worth renting. I thought it was really good, and Val Kilmer does a lot of his own singing in it. Meg Ryan plays his GF, Pam Corson.
Thx to you and Loo for the tip…this game seems like “End of the Night”.
The avg. is 535 because the Bucs and Stros have scored 415 and 466 respectively.
Stop grading on a curve. We’re 11th outta 16. That’s the bottom line.
Make that trade for Cody Ross.I’m sick of watching Nate AB’s.
No that is not the bottom line, stupowad. That’s like saying 2 out is the same as 10. 8th is only 11 more runs. They are middle of the pack.
A wad of stupo.
That’s kind of disgusting
Coming in to today’s game, they were on pace to give up the same number of runs as last year’s team.
Do you think the sun will come up tomorrow? If not, I might as well go to the whore-house now. I’ve always wanted to hook up with a black chick.
Huh?
I thought the world was ending. And now that I think about it, I have hooked up with a black chick.
Ahhhh, *college*.
Runs per game in the NL has gone down this year from 4.43 to 4.36. The Giants’ pitching has gotten relatively worse, the hitting relatively better. During the off season, I mentioned that I’d factor a marginal drop off in the pitching in to the make up of the roster. From my POV, the question remains: has Sabes made the right moves to build an offense that takes this team into the playoffs?
Ross is definitely a better bet than Guillen to provide some help, but he is another low OBP hacker.
Lqtm at this one cal…
Franchez still isn’t reminding me of Robby Thompson… Have u noticed that everytime franchez bats, instead of breaking down his pathetic hitting, k/k usually start talking about his defense?
The Password is “Denial.” We’re 11th in runs scored Allen Luddenwad.
By the way, I guess we can throw out the theory that zito is always good for a strong 2nd half….
I guess he is good for “a half”.
…wit
67 pitches thru 7 for a guy who’s never pitched into the 8th. Our offense today should hang their heads in shame for this mailed-in performance. I hope the whores in st Louis were worth it last night …
Fukkin embarrassing. Zits loses it. Batters can’t hit this Mexican kid. Franchez fluffs. Mota is dogmeat. DFA now! There are at least 3 relievers at Fresno who could hardly be worse. One thing for sure. This is NOT a hot weather team. Glad i been outside carving most of this while. Not really up for torture today.
Baggs is reporting that the Marlins have dumped Cody Ross on the Giants.
That oughta solve all our problems.
Baggs tweeted a while back that we could try to flip him to another team, like the Red Sox.
Keep Ross, send Rohand to the Sox, he can pull all day to try to hit the Monster. We pay all his wages this year remaining, then a spilt of his pay next season depending on performance. They still wouldn’t do it…
The password is “Unclear on Math”. You don’t throw out lows unless you throw out highs, asswipe. Average without ‘Stros and Bucs and without Reds and Brewers is 540. Middle of the pack, Denny.
Unless we picked up Ross to replace Timmy in the rotation, I don’t think he’s gonna help much.
Can he pitch?…
Based on the atl series and now this one I think it’s safe to say that our lily-white fog-loving asses don’t like hot weather…
Yeah, well, too much sun makes me naseous as well
There are a few scenarios with Ross. Certainly one can be that Guillen is not long for starting. Whatever he hits can’t atone for zero speed, especially on defense. And surely none of you would cry if Rowand didn’t get more starts.
Wish they just had a tour of Woody’s “Shed” today.Would have been much more entertaining then this pathetic game.
Bochy addressed the envelope with his lineup today, then Zitshit proceeded to lick the stamp and seal this motherfucker.
Don’t laugh . . . Ross is a “plus” fielder and his WAR career numbers are a steal. He has a .263 BA, 11 HRs, 58 RBI, and 9 SB. He does strikeout a lot, but I think we’re lucky to have him.
Two hits. But, yeah, Zito and Mota fucked us.
His power seems to be mostly from the right, he has a plus .800 OPS from the right, also. They could platoon him with Andres the rest of the way. Wouldn’t mind seeing 4 or 5 more of those cool bat flips.
At least sabean is doing something (with the Ross acquisition). He’s gming for his job..
Kruk is just now getting around to noticing Garcia hasn’t had many deep counts. Translation for Clueless kruk: we mailed this game in.
Jed’s right. As long the team scores 9 per game they’ll be fine,. Pitching is not a problem.
We’ve seen them score runs outside the bottom 3rd in one month, July. The results were 20-8. I’m okay with that.
Anybody do a review of the results/performance in roadie lastday/get away games this year? This seems like a familiar type of low performance level for this scenario. But, this stinker today seems particularly embarassing. Bochy should apologize on behalf of the team after this one. Maybe a short post-game closed meeting is in order, but I doubt it will happen…
It was a game to forget from any angle. Using it to prove a dumbfuck theory that pitching doesn’t matter is typical Jediocy.
I’d cry if Rowand didn’t get any more starts. How the hell could I make jokes about his .292 OBP% if he’s not in the lineup? I would not, could not and should not rip Rowand behind his back. What’s even a bigger joke than Rowand’s numbers is that according to ESPN, 2.5% of their fantasy baseball owners have Rowand on their team. I have one thing to say about that fact: Time to thin the herd people, time to thin the herd.
Dennis, get your rips in now, after the callups Rohand will disappear even more into the pine… He’s gone in the offseason, somewhere, anywhere, for something, anything, nothing. Doesn’t matter. He won’t be back. Right now, he’s at the bottom of the worry pile. Worry beads are getting red hot for Timmy, Cain and the entire staff…
Listen up Giants fans, Cody Ross is on Pawlie’s fantasy league team . . . With an endorsement like that, ya can’t lose 🙂
We typically get the unsupportable claim that they didn’t care or didn’t try after a blow out loss. It says more about the poster than the team. It was a terrible ballgame. It happens. To every team. Ferggedit.
What is in this fucking shed? It can’t just be video games right? There’s strippers and booze and poker tables, right? Maybe someone bbqing steaks 24/7? If it’s just video games, and these fycking old men continue to beat off to this place every chance they get, that’s just pathetic…..
Thank you. It was bad enough before. Now, no one even shows (or is invited), and yet Baer’s office pumps stories to the Chron and CSNBA about Woody and his shed of deviance. “Tell us another story about the shed, Woody. Aw, that Woody.”
Baer on KNBR last week re Lopez deal (after stupid shit about his wife and college grades): “Our bullpen is built for a playoff run.” He’s one crafty mutha.
Jed, you’re closing fast on my position as the Baer baiter on the Flap. EVERYTHING he does is for PR purposes. Baer never stops selling, it’s his job….
Unfortunately, that’s now three terrible ballgames out of their last seven.
I guess they aren’t trying. Right.
Sorry to say my 10-1 prediction isn’t too far off. Face it, gents, we have trouble with clubs with winning records. The clubs we’re battlin’ for a playoff spot have done a little better than us in that regard. 37 to go after today’s debacle, and 22 of those are vs. + .500 clubs. Anyone have any magic beans?
3-3 Phils 3-3 Cards 2-2 Reds, 3-4 Braves, the four teams they are fighting for Wild Card. They are equally matched with their competition for that spot. Obcviously, they have to beat the Padres to claim that one.
Pen is fine. 3rd in ERA, first in save pecentage ( as a staff).
Feliz is a happy Card. His bat woke up.
You can’t expect a team to stay focused 162 straight games. It was sat night, they went out and blew off sone steam. Maybe too much. It’s pathetic how easy Garcia had it. We hacked weakly at all the first or second pitches. Joke.
Runs per game in the NL has gone down this year from 4.43 to 4.36. So far, the Giants’ pitching has gotten relatively worse by maintaining the status quo, the hitting relatively better. During the offseason, I posted that a marginal drop off in the pitching should be factored in to the make up of the roster. From my POV, the question remains: has Sabes made the right moves to build an offense that takes this team into the playoffs?
Ross is a better bet to help than Guillen, but he is another low OBP hacker who’s having a crummy year because his SP is down.
Clearly, James, you must be some Benedict Arnold Doomer fan for suggesting that a “marginal drop” in pitching might occur and possibly affect outcomes.
Woody is obviously a nice man and if he wants to invite guys to a shed, what the heck. I bet it’s one hell of a shed!
It’s a bad loss, sure. Plus, they haven’t gotten into the Cards’ pen, so their pen will be rested for the next coupla games. That’s not good when you’re playing a WC competitor…
Shit, I just realized that Garcia has faced the fucking minimum. Now thru 8.1
Maybe they wanted to get home in time to watch Alex Smith work his magic.:D
How come my gay-ass smiley face didn’t come through? That sucks. 😦
According to SealFuck, that’s a perfect game.
“a dumbfuck theory that pitching doesn’t matter.” Nah, just a challenge to the daily propaganda spooged from Sabean’s shills, stooges, assorted love children, and vain posters that the staff is so dominant that the Giants can spend six years bottom-fishing for hitters.
From above, since Room B has trouble with looking up:
” 3-3 Phils 3-3 Cards 2-2 Reds, 3-4 Braves, the four teams they are fighting for Wild Card. They are equally matched with their competition for that spot. Obcviously, they have to beat the Padres to claim that one.”
Obviously, boys, it’s kinda hard to make a claim for the pitching OR the fucking offense after a 9-0 loss.
What’s that, 89 pitch complete gm? For a guy who hasn’t ever made it to the 8th? Pathetic. And mailed in…
BF, if you look at the inning by inning pitch count for Garcia, there’s no question they mailed this one in. Under 90 pitches on a hot day in St. Louis — if I’m Dave Duncan I couldn’t have ordered up a better scenario…
Any of you ever been to St. Louis in August? A LOT of visiting teams are dead by Sunday. It is brutal there.
And yet the Cards survive 81 home games there . . .
Just as the Rocks do better at home, we do… about everybody, dimwit.Obviously the weather affects teams that are less used to it. What a fucking moron you are.
I’m surprised we got Ross for nothing. He’s put up some legit ml #s this year. Drug prob? Injured? Clubhouse cancer? This makes very little sense why they would let him go for nothing
Very bad second half, on the hook for 6 million next year.
Their record is just about what it should be, on pace for 89-73.What’s the big fucking pantywad? The Pads are out of their minds or they lead the division by 6. If they don’t grab the WC OR the division with 88-90 wins, start tipping your dunce caps..
” they are fighting for Wild Card.”
The Wild what? You guys bringing that shit up now are a fucking hoot.
Know what happens when you play for 2nd when 1st is still attainable? You finish 3rd.
You fucking play every game and take what you get, asshole. Of COURSE you think more about it when it’s 2 instead of 6. Jesus Horatio Whiteboy Christ.
Flav, according to a Miami paper, “The move Sunday allowed the cost-conscious Marlins to purge payroll. They plan to recall Cameron Maybin on Tuesday from Triple-A New Orleans for a late-season tryout in center field.
Garcia is a guy who always labors! It’s one of the reason he never gets deep into games. Yet he sails through our line up in 89 pitches. Get-a-way day, looking forward to getting home, hot ass day after a night of boozing….all this = one thing: we mailed this one in. Too bad the media guys can’t tell us what the team really spent the night doing last night….
Why don’t you put one of your buds on the case?
I don’t think this team ever mails it in … they just take an ineffective approach to the game and then are unwilling/unable to change. You simply can’t make 27 outs on 89 pitches and have a guy record his first career complete game (with a tight strike zone no less) if you’re putting out a professional physical AND mental effort.
Sadly, you know you’re going to get a certain percentages of games like this with this roster. To that extent, it’s true that you just have to move on. They’ve made it clear they aren’t going to change.
What’s Ross make? I thought he was young and cheap (like last nights ho’s the team worked their way through)….
We’re on the hook for $1.1
St. Louis is one of two teams with BETTER pitching than ours. It was up to Freak and Zit to at least hold up their end. Guys pitch differently when it’s close…
They owe Ross a little over a million, he gets 6 next year.
One thing is for sure after today’s results: Garcia just knock Jesus off his ROY mantle a rung or two.
Buster is still the odds on favorite.
I really hope they deal Ross away. I didn’t post this at the time, but I didn’t like them getting Guillen because it put dead weight at the corner OF positions and changed the nature of the line-up. We were never fast but we were sharp and played smart. I think we’ve lost that defensively. Agree with several of you that Sanchez needs to sit like Rowand now that Uribe’s back. And I’d play more of Nate and Ishi because they need more ABs to get sharp if we make it to October.
I said it yesterday, I’ll say it again: I enjoyed your posts–even skipped the broadcast!
I’m sure the hotels, bars, and brand new clubhouse in STL are air conditioned. The only time and place you feel the heat is when you’re standing on the field. A professional athlete should be able to handle that for a few minutes at a time.
Shit I’ll take Ross for only 6 mil next year– got a lil pop and speed, I’m in. Release rowand and franchez, play derosa at 2nd base next yr, it would work (tho it will never happen. Both rowand and franchez will be in our team next yr)
BF, I just can’t see how Rohand is here next year. Even if Sabes is still in the corner office. He’s got to go. Franchez, I can see being here. Maybe he’ll have healed up more from the surgeries, he hasn’t been here as long and his is not as much an eyesore to the fans as Rohand’s contract. I’ll take Ross into next season, too. WTF not? The whole OF will be wide open in the offseason and probably turnover totally by end of next ST…
I think they’ll find a way to dump Rowand somehow.
Loo has not been to St. Louis or forgot.
But I agree, the heat in the bars and cocktail lounges is tolerable. Jesus Fucking Christ.
One think Snarkk has been right about, Rowand will be gone. Guillen won’t be back, Nate won’t. Torres, Huff, Neal, perhaps Belt, maybe Ross, Velez. The Bat is gone.
Burrell, Ray, Fontenot, Ramirez, Lopez, Guillen, and now Ross . . . Yep, the boys in the corner office logged a lot of OT last Nov. and Dec.
Ross does present a mild upgrade over Rowand though he is a strikeout machine and his fair to moderate power numbers took a dip this year. He can steal the occasional base so obviously he would not be dead in the OF. Rowand is so burned here that they may as well dump him right now on a DFA unless they decide to do a quick flip on Ross. If Aaron DFAs it won’t be the first time SF had to eat a big salary. It doesn’t compare with the salary eating done by the LaBumbos, but then the Dogs represent pretty stiff competition in that category.
Only other conceivable option to bring Ross onto the active roster is to promptly dump Mota and go with only 6 relievers for the next nine games. If the starters could revert to form, that would be no big problem. So Sabean kept Ross from the Dagos and now he has to figure out what to do.
The last few years Sabes has been the James Carville of GMs. Castillo, Walkemery, etc. “Drag a $100 bill through the trailer park, there’s no telling what you’ll find…”
I don’t know who they toss aside to make room for Ross. Unless they trade him immediately for something, but that makes little sense. Maybe Nate, but they’d have to DFA and get nothing for him, while I think he has some value in trade in the offseason. Maybe Guillen goes, he can hit but his D borders on stand up comedy, and letting him go won’t cost much. Or, somebody goes on the DL — Rent?…
I’ll tell you another thing, I bet a lot of teams mail it in on Sundays. I bet “under” in Sunday games for a while– somewhat profitable. I’d love to see ave # of runs scored in the league on sun and compare it to other days of the week. No idea how to get that stat tho
Hey, Loo. A certain jock just recorded their first win at this yrs. meet at the Spa.
Took a photo just for you.: http://tinyurl.com/2bruy8n
And Jesus H. people, stop with all the who’s gonna be back next yr. BS. Makes it sound like this yr. is already over. They’ll be plenty of time for that shit later. Concentrate your efforts for the immediate task at hand: Make Alex Smith stop sucking.
Thanks, Denny. I was happy for her. She rarely rides anything under 30-1.
Better question, who the hell is going to be the SS next season? If Crawford needs more seasoning, which he probably will. There’s no one to fill the slot.
Rent is already on the dl.
Snarkk has been out of country..
Yes. I was in Texas for 10 days. It’s not part of the US…
No worse than that mail in job on Sunday 10/27/02…
Free Villalona!!!
Rowand being released would be no surprise at all. Face it, Ross is the same guy, just a little younger. They’re eating Rowand’s contract in a couple months regardless.
If they eat all that $ rowand is still owed it’ll be a first. The giants will release you in your last yr or so, ala Dave Roberts, but their history is that they hold on to the bitter end (or close to it)
Well, for the amount of $ involved, Roberts was a first.
Ross has played RF and CF so either Rowand or Nate could go.I just think it’s Rowand because he now has no future here AND no trade value. Otherwise, they bail on Guillen. Fuck, who knows, who cares? As a 5th fucking OFer he’s fine.

If they release Rohand during this season I’ll bow down towards ATT and begin chanting a mantra to Sabes . More likely somebody gets hurt on the plane ride to SFO and has to go on the DL…
Not out of the question, either. Nate or Aaron or Guillen could develop a “hurt side”.
This is the kind of situation where MLB would do well to get into the 21st century re: trading and picks. If MLB allowed trading players straight up for picks, you could do something like trade Nate for a 2011 2nd rounder or 2012 first rounder, a conditional pick depending on future playing time, etc. But no. With options gone, you’re limited to DFA, or fake an injury for the DL, etc. Then, six years from now, you could say — hey, Nate turned into the Joe Dokes pick, now Joe’s our starting SS, etc. — what a great trade…
