A Place To Talk About Giants Baseball

A Perfect Night of Baseball

Posted in Uncategorized by Flavor on September 29, 2010

This is unfolding nicely, isn’t it? Professional, inevitable comeback win last night. And how about Mike Quade? he’s got the Cubs playing for…..I dunno, but whatever it it that’s the reason he should be named their manager in the off season. The job he’s done keeping that team together and playing hard until the end is to be honored…..

Ian Kennedy going tonight? No prob, we’ll just throw Lincecum at ’em. As I said yesterday, a sweep of the d-backs would hardly surprise, in fact I expect it. San Diego is hitting the 16th pole staggering, on fumes, as I said they would do.

I’m not sure why anyone is sweating who we play in the playoffs. Philly doesn’t scare me at all, In fact I think we match up well with them………

Don’t all laugh now. But on that nice HTPC i don’t have more than the most elementary surfing abilities. No idea on how to access ESPN. I’m pretty green on a Windows system, having used nothing but the old iMac for years.

They need to start getting some more pitches out of this fuck. Get into their pen and they’ll win. 54 is pretty good, but we want this shit out by the 7th.

  30. ChiPower's avatar ChiPower said, on September 29, 2010 at 9:01 pm

Be interesting to see if he comes out for the 7th. Ramirez sure looked good in the 7th last night…I might pull that string, again.

  32. PawlieKokonuts's avatar PawlieKokonuts said, on September 29, 2010 at 9:03 pm

Au contraire. Tim crafted a new brand of A stuff via evolution. He has adjusted. That is pitching. I love the way he gets some swagger as he gets his mojo working.

  49. stixwiz's avatar stixwiz said, on September 29, 2010 at 9:23 pm

Insurance Policy seems to be the Bullpen. Where would this squad be without Pat the Bat? 18 HRs and 51 RBIs since pulled off the Tampax Bay scrapheap. What a find! So many of those runs he has produced have been utterly crucial. On top of that he has worked counts and drawn walks.

  50. PawlieKokonuts's avatar PawlieKokonuts said, on September 29, 2010 at 9:26 pm

It is so quiet and subtle how this team came about. Lopez, for example, made few headlines at the trade deadline. We don’t care about the heds; we’ll take the outs.

    • ChiPower's avatar ChiPower said, on September 29, 2010 at 9:29 pm

Look back to the beginning of the year…DeRosa, Rowand and Bowker in the OF. And not only the addition of Huff, Burrell, etc., but as Pawlie mentions…Lopez, and also Ramirez. Those guys have been money! Sabean had a great year…he deserves Executive of the Year!

  53. stixwiz's avatar stixwiz said, on September 29, 2010 at 9:31 pm

Ahh, for a bit of relief. Lopez does his job. Kudos to Sabean for a fine pickup. Bowker has done a bit for the Pirates. They need it. Good for him. We’ll take that swap. It just keeps on paying off.

  54. PawlieKokonuts's avatar PawlieKokonuts said, on September 29, 2010 at 9:32 pm

and Fontenot . . . Also, when you think about it, ownership shifted strategy when it benched Rowand, dared to bench Pablo, traded Bengie, benched Renteria…BUT judiciously worked in Nate, Ishi, Rent, sometimes Whiteside…keeping people fresh

    • ChiPower's avatar ChiPower said, on September 29, 2010 at 9:36 pm

You hit it Pawlie…Bochy (and I suppose Sabean had some input, too), just keep pulling all the right levers. It has been amazing, not only who the Giants have acquired (for almost nothing) this year, but the way that they have been used. Good Stuff!!!

  55. TellItGoodbye's avatar TellItGoodbye said, on September 29, 2010 at 9:32 pm

Mike Hampton … wow. Guy must love the game, no question. He’s collected a whole lot of money for doing not a whole lot.

  56. PawlieKokonuts's avatar PawlieKokonuts said, on September 29, 2010 at 9:35 pm

we’ve covered it here, but Hampton one of the worst contracts ever, for ROI; also, Pavano w/ the Yanks, Beltran w/ Mets, and, um, um, a few others that discretion prevents us from citing…

  57. stixwiz's avatar stixwiz said, on September 29, 2010 at 9:35 pm

Giants bats sure have been quiet against a mixed bag of pitchers. Hampton has an ERA of 0.00 in a total of 3.2 innings pitched.
