A Perfect Night of Baseball
This is unfolding nicely, isn’t it? Professional, inevitable comeback win last night. And how about Mike Quade? he’s got the Cubs playing for…..I dunno, but whatever it it that’s the reason he should be named their manager in the off season. The job he’s done keeping that team together and playing hard until the end is to be honored…..
Ian Kennedy going tonight? No prob, we’ll just throw Lincecum at ’em. As I said yesterday, a sweep of the d-backs would hardly surprise, in fact I expect it. San Diego is hitting the 16th pole staggering, on fumes, as I said they would do.
I’m not sure why anyone is sweating who we play in the playoffs. Philly doesn’t scare me at all, In fact I think we match up well with them………
Dago up 1-0. Braves won, Cincy lost.
And hell yes we can win this thing! WTF!
WTF: When turtles fly?
2-0
Don’t all laugh now. But on that nice HTPC i don’t have more than the most elementary surfing abilities. No idea on how to access ESPN. I’m pretty green on a Windows system, having used nothing but the old iMac for years.
They need to start getting some more pitches out of this fuck. Get into their pen and they’ll win. 54 is pretty good, but we want this shit out by the 7th.

Or runs will do.
Like Dirty last night.Tim just keeps grinding and keeping the team in the game.Time to make Kennedy pay.Nice start by Huff Daddy.
Eartt to Stix…Earth to Stix…do you read Stix???
Mays and miltary service…drafted ’52, and as Pawly said, served most of two years…52 and 53.
Here we go
Fuck Yeah!!!
Bat me baby, Bat me!
Pat!!!
THE BAT!
KENNEDY ASSASSINATED!
Pat you are the Man!!!!! Smoked that one!
Pat the MuthaFucking Bat!!!
Thanks: Fresh. “diagnostic problems” on Windows. Continuing their “more information”.
BTW…Mays missed most of ’52 and all of ’53 (yeah…I like most of you, read his biography).
On close-ups, Tim looks pale and sickly. I suspect he’s under the weather…
Good ol Yahoo reopened and voila: PAT THE BAT. That dude seems to have an uncanny knack for opening it up and Kennedy got nervous facing the heart of the order. Yes!
OK, those of you who are better Giant historians than I am (which is probably everyone) … who is the last pickup that had a bigger impact than Burrell?
Billy Pierce
I think my first game, very young kid, featured Whitey Ford vs. Billy Pierce, White Sox at Yankees. 1958.
Jack Sanford
Chi: Good to see you back on the planet. I’m doing fine. Just having beaucoup problems connecting to video tonight. Heyy. Pablo’s been munching those bamboo shoots again. Yeah. Keep up the pressure on this kid. Now Tlmmy bats and the lineup turns over.
Gee, just like that Pat the Bat brings back the Chevron cars. Crazy me.
Imaging Burrell facing first Philly and then Tampa Bay.
I love that image, Max. Would love to see Burrell stick it to Philly and T-Bay (and Huff stick it to T-Bay, too).
Max: Sounds like a haunting image as Halloween approaches.
Runt Two must have figured he was still in Wrigley ~ or imagined that he was Pat the Bat.
Nice AB by Huff the Magic Dragon. Worked the count and then dingled Kennedy.
See ya Kennedy.
Fucking Dago up 3 zip.
Giants win one at a time and nothing else matters.
HR Huff and Puff…
Timmy obviously did not have his “A stuff” tonite…and yet, 6 innings and 1 run…hey…we’ll take that.
Be interesting to see if he comes out for the 7th. Ramirez sure looked good in the 7th last night…I might pull that string, again.
Ten-K. night for Timmy. Looks as if he may keep that strikeout crown.
Au contraire. Tim crafted a new brand of A stuff via evolution. He has adjusted. That is pitching. I love the way he gets some swagger as he gets his mojo working.
Nice showing by Tim.Grinded all night, but made the pitches when he needed too.Hell he still had 10 K’s.I would call it a night.he’s over 100 pitches.
man, when Juan misses he looks like, what, Picasso painting with a hockey stick. He misses. By a lot.
I know you gotta play the games and all that …but Pads seemed like heavy chalk tonight. Just hope for a bullpen blowup out of the blue.
So much for me knowing what the fuck…Timmy is back on the hill to start the inning. Nice outing…given how he started. Kid is a full-blown stud! Glad he rocks the Orange and Black!!
That (the walk) may be the beginning of the end for Timmy. Boch to the hill…
Fucking A…109 pitches and Bochy just “checkin’ in on him.”
o ye of little faith
Yo-leven!
oh yeah Timmy!
Yes! Timmy is dealing!
Make it an 11K night!
Good for Boch….
Gee, maybe Bochy knows what he’s doing.
Pablo is hitting the ball well. I like how he went the other way.
Even with arguably not his best stuff Timmy is the MAN. What a pitcher.
Freddy Mercury pitched for the Giants?
The Mercury dealer gave up the ghost in my neighborhood. Who wants to drive them anymore?
Velez?!? Is it me, or does it seem like YEARS ago this guy was starting?
Bleep!
Insurance Policy seems to be the Bullpen. Where would this squad be without Pat the Bat? 18 HRs and 51 RBIs since pulled off the Tampax Bay scrapheap. What a find! So many of those runs he has produced have been utterly crucial. On top of that he has worked counts and drawn walks.
It is so quiet and subtle how this team came about. Lopez, for example, made few headlines at the trade deadline. We don’t care about the heds; we’ll take the outs.
Look back to the beginning of the year…DeRosa, Rowand and Bowker in the OF. And not only the addition of Huff, Burrell, etc., but as Pawlie mentions…Lopez, and also Ramirez. Those guys have been money! Sabean had a great year…he deserves Executive of the Year!
Some SFPRs here.
State Farm Prudential Runs.
Gibson has one guy on the bench who can tie it with one swing-and he SAVES him, with 2 out?
Ahh, for a bit of relief. Lopez does his job. Kudos to Sabean for a fine pickup. Bowker has done a bit for the Pirates. They need it. Good for him. We’ll take that swap. It just keeps on paying off.
and Fontenot . . . Also, when you think about it, ownership shifted strategy when it benched Rowand, dared to bench Pablo, traded Bengie, benched Renteria…BUT judiciously worked in Nate, Ishi, Rent, sometimes Whiteside…keeping people fresh
You hit it Pawlie…Bochy (and I suppose Sabean had some input, too), just keep pulling all the right levers. It has been amazing, not only who the Giants have acquired (for almost nothing) this year, but the way that they have been used. Good Stuff!!!
Mike Hampton … wow. Guy must love the game, no question. He’s collected a whole lot of money for doing not a whole lot.
we’ve covered it here, but Hampton one of the worst contracts ever, for ROI; also, Pavano w/ the Yanks, Beltran w/ Mets, and, um, um, a few others that discretion prevents us from citing…
Giants bats sure have been quiet against a mixed bag of pitchers. Hampton has an ERA of 0.00 in a total of 3.2 innings pitched.
OK, so Friday’s game will mean something. Crap.
Sabean moves have paid off big time and this game is no exception.
CRAZY SPARTAN MAN PITCHING!!
This one’s far from over.
my frail nerves face electrocution… double-play, please
Drama time again.
ok ok, so the guy was on second; STRIKEOUT PLEASE
3-1. Man on 3rd wont win the game.
Do some damage
did you see that stat for Reynolds? no player has ever had more strikeouts than his average?
that was strike 3
DP time
Can you believe Wilson is coming out of this game without it being tied?
Hope Flav didn’t take the over
Ballgame!
a game
Magic Number : 3
Piece of cake.
