A Place To Talk About Giants Baseball

In the Drivers Seat…..

Posted in Uncategorized by Flavor on October 20, 2010

We lead 2 games to one (how’s that Philly in 5 pick coming along, Mitch?) and who isn’t looking for us to go up 3 games to one? Big Fat Joe Blanton hasn’t lost since July 22nd? Another example of why wins and loses are nearly meaningless stats to analyze a pitcher. His ERA on the road was 5.47 and opponents hit .292 off him. In his 3 career ATT starts he’s got a “Tyler Walker–esque WHIP of 1.58 with the Giants hitting at a .318 clip. Blanton is the kind of guy your struggling hitters get healthy on. He’s an innings eater but looking at his physique that’s hardly all  he eats…..Meanwhile, we’ve got our stud lefty going against a team that can’t hit lefties……3 and 1 never looked so good…….

Rollins bails out casilla. The ugliness of casilla is always lurking. But, lots of innings left. We’re all good

At least the missed strike 3 didn’t burn us.

  6. snarkk's avatar snarkk said, on October 20, 2010 at 6:38 pm

Casilla looked like he tried to quick pitch on that wild pitch. You could tell he was fuckin distracted and pissed. Bochy cannot put him in now with men on. Only come in to start an inning. Gave them an extra run…

Hope springs eternal, or even semi-eternal. [What a clusterfuck of a half-inning.]

It’s as much on Bum as anyone else, he needed to get the out after the big play by Rowand/Buster. 4-2, 5 innngs to get ’em. Doable for sure.

my wife was barking at me, why did they bring in Casillas? he vacuums! and i’m saying he’s done well all year. and she says, he vacuumed in PA in just this situation.

      and then, he vacuumed.

Well, it’s about time we saw Bastardo! I like our chances in a BP vs. BP game.

  11. Sportdude's avatar Sportdude said, on October 20, 2010 at 6:44 pm

6 hits in 5 innings is not lit up. Our starters are dominating. Every time they get in a little trouble the hook comes, and bullpen has blow a few. I wasn’t on the board yesterday during the game. Were there any comments saying “Cain gave up 2 runners in the 7th. Get him out of there….Shock of shocks the starter got out of his own mess. If Bum in 7th a different story, but not with 85 pitches in the 5th. We had gotten back mo from Rowand / buster and gave it all back and more.

    • JBat's avatar JBat said, on October 20, 2010 at 6:50 pm

4 hits in one inning is getting lit up, which is why Bochy pulled him out.

      • max808's avatar max808 said, on October 20, 2010 at 6:52 pm

Not to mention it was a RH hitter up. No brainer there.

    • JBat's avatar JBat said, on October 20, 2010 at 6:51 pm

And Cain is a 26 year old, 5 year veteran, while Bum is a 21 year old rook. If you can’t see the difference, there’s no hope for you. Clearly, Bochy agrees.
