Burrell’s swing looked old and slow tonight. Still, I would be surprised to see a big shakeup in the LU tomorrow. Huff DH makes sense, with Ishi at 1B. Burrell’s D has been pretty damn good, so you’re not giving up much there if you leave him in to look for his power swing.
I didn’t see the Pablo strike out. On the radio, Miller and Morgan were falling on the floor laughing about the swing at the curve in the dirt. Morgan pointed out that Molina had slapped the ground with his mitt to call for the pitch in the dirt. Miller wondered whether the batter might notice a signal like that. Morgan surmised that with Pablo it probably doesn’t matter. Miller agreed. I’m going with all Tootsie Roll products—lollipops, traditional, and vanilla Tootsie Rolls. I live in one of those neighborhoods where there are a ton of trick or treaters—–including packs of kids who come in by van just to hit all the houses around here.
Why the fuck would any sane person play Nate before Rowand in the WS? Dumb dumb dumb. IF they sit Pat it has to be Torres, Rowand, Ross left to right… but the call should be: Pat plays.
Bottom of the order – starting with Burrell, were 1 for 17 (Ross getting the only hit) . . . Even though Hunter hasn’t lost at Arlington, he is the “weak sister” of this pitching staff. Not certain they were serious, but they supposedly gave consideration to going with a 3-man rotation in both the Tampa Bay series and this one, i.e., not exactly an endorsement of Hunter.
Hunter is not overpowering and he doesn’t strike out many batters. Opposition batting average against him this year is .255 and batters have a fairly robust .265 career average against him.
Consequently, I’m looking for the Giants to “chase him” early and get into their bullpen. If that happens, their proverbial “wad” will have been shot and they will have to rely upon Lee entirely in the 5th game.
Don’t let anyone convince you that the Giants aren’t in the driver’s seat . . . They are. Go Giants!

as for the incredible nate/rowand debate, they’re both hitting 1.00 in the series, rowand with two rbi’s and nate with one. but looking at the season, we see rowand hitting .230 with 16 walks and 74 k’s while nate hit .242 with 20 walks and 30 k’s in more at bats. but many of nate’s at bats were one or two at bats a game.
do the goddamn math. he’s not fucking wonder boy but what’s he have to do to get a better shot than rowand? blow someone?
