A Place To Talk About Giants Baseball

Trading Rowand for Ibanez

Posted in Uncategorized by Flavor on December 5, 2010

I haven’t spent too much time checking out this rumor. It’s probably nothing. But with the Winter Meetings coming up it’s at least worth considering. If it’s real, I pull this trigger in a nano-second (and we would need to pay all of Rowand’s 2012 salary. Ibanez makes 11.5 mil in the last year of his deal in 2010). Ibanez also has a no-trade clause so he’d have to be cool with it but I can’t imagine he wouldn’t want a change of scenery. And what a perfect change of scenery it would be for Aaron. Head back to the town who loved you, where you had your best years. Plus, with Werth leaving they could actually use Rowand, or at least see what he’s got left. Ibanez would give us the left handed pop we don’t have now off the bench.  It would be a great, no risk trade that would give everyone a fresh start……

As a change of scenery kind of deal it does make sense. Rowand goes to a bandbox, we get a power To me though, Ibanez makes more sense for the Nats as a replacement for Dunn.
If the trade happened we would need to open a spot for a backup CF. So you could kiss Ishi and or Nate goodbye. All in all, I don’t see a down side to this trade for either team or player.

As I said yesterday, do this trade in a NY minute. Figure out how to deal with the unbalanced contract years, Philly maybe wants SF to pick up half Rohand’s 2012 salary, whatever. Get it done. I would miss the endless ragging opportunities on Rohand, but not much. Just get him the hell outta here. I predicted he’d be gone on a lonely winter weekend, and I’m hoping I was right…

$18M per year over 7 years for Werth. Boy Howdy! Is Werth worth 18X as much as Burrell? No. How are the Nats funding that? Not many go to their games…

Unbelievably stupid signing by the nats.

Wow zito must be happy he has some company in the horribly overpaid line…..oh yea rowand is in that line and yes , I would trade rowand for a retired mo alou and an eighth of some green crack from the green door

Other than the Nats/Werth deal being idiotic, I’m all for it if it helps move Rohand back to Philly…

Werth, 31 years old. Is he the second coming of Lamar Bonds?? Nats must think so.

Enjoy Buster while he’s cheap. He’s going to be very expensive soon enough, beard or no. I see where the Rangers got Yorvit. Who’s available for a backup role now for the Gigantes? Bengielena…

Giants paid $16,000 per HR from Pat in 2010. Let’s see now-18 million, divided… carry the… ummmmmmm.
1125 HR this year and Werth is worth every darn penny..

  15. TedSpe's avatar TedSpe said, on December 5, 2010 at 6:37 pm

Werth and worth in the same sentence?
That’s the worth pun I’ve read all day

Be honest now. Who didn’t love that shot of Big Ben’s broken and bloody nose?

That crooked honker would make Rocky Marciano proud.

  17. Del Mar Dennis's avatar delmardennis said, on December 5, 2010 at 6:53 pm

And the NFL and Roger Goodell need to take the kid gloves off the players. Linebackers and safeties in particular are quickly becoming afraid to lay the wood. It’s utter horseshit! It’s football for Christ sakes. Hit somebody.

    • TedSpe's avatar TedSpe said, on December 5, 2010 at 6:58 pm

I’m cool with that. But the term “lay the wood”
Is that like “Don’t ask, don’t tell?”

    • twinfan's avatar twinfan said, on December 5, 2010 at 7:02 pm

The new rules are absolutely necessary. It’s poor and/or malicious coaching. Collinsworth has it right: there’s no discussion.

      • Del Mar Dennis's avatar delmardennis said, on December 5, 2010 at 7:33 pm

Absolutely necessary? Surely you jest. Give the people what they want — blood. They signed up for the gig, they know the risks. They’re ruining the game. The news rules are forcing the defenders to think rather than react. They don’t get paid to think. See the guy with the ball, hit the guy with the ball.

I loved Big Ben and his bloody nose, especially after they showed a pre-game clip of him just yuckin’ it up as casual as could be. I was like, “dude, the Raven Defense is about to kill you, show some interest in this or something…”
Plus, I’m one of the few people who LOVED R-Seymour’s decking of his shit-talking ass. Fuck Big Ben, he’s worse than scum…..

If any of us did what he did in that bathroom in Nowhere, GA, we’d probably be in jail right now, waitin’ on a trial for sexual assault with a phone call into Marty Lurie to come out of retirement and give a Giants fan a reduced rate for criminal defense…

Ibanez for Rowand works for me; said so weeks ago. ALTHOUGH I honestly do not count out a resurgent Rowand. You heard it first here, Dec. 5.

Was just in Philly. Did not pose that trade question to anyone as I proudly sported my black and orange cap. Took some heat. Gave it back.

Tired. Slippery snow for last 15-30 miles.

    Nighty night, Flappers.

Pawliie, let Rohand the Resurgent do his resurgence in Philly. I’m tired of his regurgence in SF…
