The Padres Suck Worse than I Thought….
Ok, ok, we lost yesterday’s game to them—one dumb inning that was bungled by the home plate umpire. Our bullpen sure stepped up after Bumgarner departed, didn’t they? 5 scoreless. Of course, the Padres can’t hit. At all. Here is the current batting averages of their *top 7* hitters (using the word “top” just feels wrong):
.176
.154
.143
.154
.214
.222
.188
Cam Maybin is the big lumbar at .222……
Obviously, batting averages are subject to wild swings at this point in the season, but Murderer’s Row they are not…..
Timmy should toy with them……
Now, if we still can’t hit, continue to play shitty defense and make mental mistakes we can probably expect to lose another one in the 2-1 range.

Gyros had great D today.
Well, 15Ks DID help…
2-4 and headed home. I’ll take it.
How long until #55 gets a no-no?
Wow, byrnsie gets some of the worst callers I have ever heard in sports talk radio history.
The doofs come out for FP, and now Byrnes. When they put Ray Woodson in there, the IQ level of the show and callers goes up about 50 points, minimum. Byrnes better up the ante pronto, or he won’t last beyond this year. So far, to me he’s not as grating and “me”-centered as FP, he’s just hesitant, herky jerky, and easy to ignore…
Huff with 3 knocks got goin’ a bit. But, seriously, he looked like he could barely make it without an oxygen tank running from 2nd to home. He shouldn’t be that winded at this stage of the year. He must not have done enough sprints in ST. I suggest more than a few in the upcoming weeks. Get in better shape, Huffster…
I noticed that too. Huff has never been fast, but he just looks exhausted. Hope it’s just from all that diving in the outfield, but it seems odd and troublesome. Hope he is healthy and just needs conditioning — which is also troublesome.
Burrell looks utterly lost at the plate. Reminds me of Mark McGwire’s last days: HR or K.
He’s still a bit winded from all that sucking ass he did in LA.
TF, you are right, even Kruk said this was the best situation to bring in Wilson. Good to see that Bochy kept to a pitch count. Wilson did not look happy. Better to keep him on a short leash for a few games.
Criminy. It’s not even an issue. Of course you don’t bring Wilson in for a save. This is still spring training for him. He likely gets a couple more warm-ups. He gave up 2 doinks. He was on a pitch count.
If the score’s 4-1 instead of 8-1, who does Bochy bring into close today? Same guy.
So?
Wilson was clearly rusty. You’re up 8-1, he’s on the 25 now, perfect time to let him air it out a little and get sharper, and test the oblique. He wasn’t great, I’m sure they weren’t surprised, nobody hit a shot off him anyway. No biggie…
no mystery at all bringing in wilson. Chuck has a good point in that this is a continuation of ST for him, where he could pitch in any inning, just to get the work in. If he’s pissed off about it, well, too bad.
Affeldt on the other hand didn’t exactly set ’em down. the one over Torres head would have been a tough/great play.
Game 6 is in the books and the giants haven’t been eliminated from the post season yet.
every day above ground is a good one.
