Barry, The Game and A POTW(!!!!!) Vote…..
I haven’t really followed Barry’s trial too carefully. I don’t care about it and I’m not super-down with the law. I rely on XOOTSUIT and SNARKK for the majority of my legal counsel. But man, I was surprised that Barry barely slid by on his perjury charges. On the “did someone other than a doctor inject him” charge he lost 11-1. WOW! Imagine what it was like for that lone wolf to persevere through nearly 4 days of deliberation. We like her….
The Game: It was a good ‘un.

Fucking Clown, oh wait…
Great win and a damn good day to have off.
I need clown feet so I can catch up with the Clown in Flap FL.
Another great game, and bochy short handed had the right guys in there and they made the plays. Mattingly’s did not, with Lilly coughing up two bombs and Gwynn making a bad mistake on the bases. Plus he burned out Kuo, whom they are extra careful with, for tonight when they play STL.
Maybe the OF defense suffers because SF has not accurately computed how old these guys are in water buffalo years. Seriously tho, Rowand got two more hits, as did Huff (who also took one pretty far to the deep part of the yard). Belt had two more hits ( line drives in the scorebook ) and another walk. See what type of pitching they see in AZ.
I’d leave Burrell in there too til Sunday get away, and I don’t care how his D is, until Torres and Ross come back healthy. No one off the bench is going to give you .870 OPS like he did last year and is doing right now. Nate has had one good game and the rest of the time is 1-14 with no walks or XBH.
nearly a year since he joined the team, Yahoo Sports is still using a photo of Pat the Bat with a Tampa Bay hat on. Sloppy…..

Dennis, I made a counter-offer . . .
Chuck, I accepted your counter. Good luck to the both of us. Just as long as you’re NO Whitey.
I hope that this Gamer mini-rejuvenation makes him tradeable in a month or so. Can he hit for another month? I am not sanguine
Worked a bit late yesterday, but the game ran long enough to let me enjoy the last three innings. There’s something about these gritty wins that gratifies the soul. Basking may be over, but pride sure as shit ain’t. Wilson, of course, looked great. Many other significant stories. But what about Fontenot? You see the lecture he gave Belt after they got too close to each other on the pop up down the RF line? Font’s a tough little guy. I didn’t realize that fact before.
Don’t know what happened last year but Fontenot has shown pretty good pop before, 9 HRs in part time duty in both ’08 and ’09.
Good game, that was cool that Posey stole that base after getting plunked for the 2nd time. No one saw that coming!! Should have stole third too!!
Looks as if Torres may be back as soon as Saturday. If he starts then, or even Sunday, it greatly solidifies the OF D and injects doubles and speed into the LU. Ross too, doesn’t seem to be too far away. Hopefully, he will be good to go by next week when they show up at the Box of Rox.
Seven out of 18 or 19 with the LaBumbos already in, with the one-game edge going to LA as 4 were played there. There have been some huge scoring games already in Phoenix. Cain could dampen things down a bit, but the Snakes might jump all over Zito. Bumgarner is the question mark there. Still, SF should take two of 3 in the desert.
Big test comes up next week in Colorado. Having faced mostly mediocre teams because of their schedule, the Rox are pretty cocky right now with their 3-game bulge. They are nasty at home, so they may have the edge there against SF. But they do get to face Timmy, Drrrty and Matt the Horse. Should be a most interesting series, particularly if both Torres and Ross start in the OF.
NO Whitey spotted at the Target store in Colma on Sunday after the game grocery shopping with his wife.
Target sells groceries?
They do now . . .
There was a MacDonalds at the Walmart. And you can see an optomitrist at Cosco.
MacDonalds? Do they serve haggis burgers?
That makes two things to do in Colma; grocery shop at the Target and push up daisies.
Once again, the POTW nominees from Loo ( and mine, as well) are awful choices. Absolutely pathetic that Stix has none.
Yeah, let’s start a write-in campaign for Stix. The guy’s working his tail off on a daily basis around here.
Qualifications for POTD and POTW . . .
1. Class clown in grade school and high school.
2. Appearance on the Letterman, Leno or Carson shows, but only resulted in 15 minutes of fame.
3. Standup comedian at Rotary Club and Moose Lodge events.
4. Only modicum of baseball knowledge, e.g., knows difference between football’s quarters and baseball’s innings.
4. Only modicum of baseball knowledge, e.g., knows difference between football’s quarters and baseball’s innings.

And only learned the difference from listening to the George Carlin routine
i’m cut to the quick.
So I’m striking out on potd’s? Noted. i suppose I don’t have to include them all in the voting process.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=om_yq4L3M_I
so I was listen to KNBR and they were talking about the BB case. I don’t know all the things you lose when you become a convicted felon, but one of them is the right to vote. Now I know some of you might think that is low on the totem pole of things to lose. but still…
Does this stop Barry from getting into the Hall? First knee jerk reaction is hell yes it stops him from getting into the Hall. And then common sense takes over and getting iinto the hall has nothing to do with being a felon. It has everything to do with what a balll player does in his carreer. Now if baseball wants to elect to let the steroid users into the hall and put an asteric next to there name with mention of steroids I can live with that. So yeah let Barry get voted into the Baseball Hall of Fame
Kevin, I think convicted felons can regain the right to vote. btw, isn’t BF right about Nyiesha, the nurse from Brentwood who held out on the perjury count? Heroic stand.
No rule in HOF to get in or stay in re: felony. Cha Cha Cepeda was convicted post career in the mid 70’s in PRico of smuggling over a 100 lbs. of grass, served something like 9 months in the can. You can argue that that crime had nothing to do with baseball, and taking ‘roids while a player obviously does, but as far as comparing the morality of the two — I don’t see how Bonds comes out worse. Cepeda wasn’t voted in by the HOF writers, but in ’99 by the Vets Committee after a big push by the Giants….
I hear they held a big meeting and passed around some local pharmaceutical grade weed for the vets to enjoy and then screened a video of Baby Bull highlights with a simple but rockin Santana soundtrack. Smiles all around after that, when the lights came back on.
I was kind of hoping they would have plunked Posey again just to see him charge the mound.
Fuck Bonds. So sick of hearing about that guy.
You’re doing a fine job on POTDs Flav….
I LOVE the fact that I’m not the only one who thought Loo’s comment about the brunette in the stands was the post of the week.
Gotta admit Rough Cutt’s take about selling beer during the Ivie slam game was also a peach. I remember hanging out by the pool in Woodland listening to that game.
Yeah, the fag joke was a doozy, too.
Kobe Bryant gave it his seal of approval…
I only care about the verdict because I think all of the steroid users should be exonerated. Athletes have been seeking an edge ever since competition began. If there’s an issue, it’s a health issue.
Don’t look now, and yeah, it’s against ho hum teams, but still, Rocks are rollin’, and on the road, too. Tulo is en fuego…
Deseo que tulowitski estuvo en mi equipo de Liga de fantasía.
No me gusta la escuela. Yo qeuiro beisbol.
The major hypocrisy of all thei Hall of Fame bullshit concerning Bonds is it’s the same assholes who say the’ll never vote for him that awarded him all those fucking MVP awards. The BBWAA. They knew or felt just as much about steroids in baseball then as they do now. And Bonds isn’t the only “alleged” steroid abuser they’re being hypocritical about either.
Well, either Bug-ass Selig takes the stand, and gets roasted for turning a blind eye to the whole problem, or they all get in. The league office (hello Sandy Alderson) knew good and goddamn well what was going on as early as 1992. In the process of giving themselves a puppet they could control, the owners passed on the steroid problem with the ousting of Vincent. After the lockout and the huge hit attendance took, the Sosa/McGwire HR dderby put butts in the seats. Any meaningful steroid teesting by that point was quietly shelved
The stupid thing is, Bonds was a shoe-in without them. McGwire? Fuck no. One-trick pony. Palmiero likely would have walked in w/o them as well.
Not sure about Palmiero but I get you point
Yeah, that’s the stupidity of it all. In the 90s it was all wink, wink, nudge, nudge with the writers. It was the open secret no one dare spill the beans about.
As far as the ‘cheating through the years’ aspect of all this goes, NOTHING out there did as much to alter players than steroids. Comparing steroids to coke in the 70s and 80s (or 30s), and greenies in the 50s and 60s is all well and good, but coke wouldn’t have saved a job for guys like Marvin Benard or FP Santangelo.
Exactamente. My biggest beef with ‘roids is that they kept AAAA players in MLB to earn some very nice coin, and consequently any clean minor leaguers didn’t get a sniff of MLB to prove themselves. Without ‘roids, FP probably has a career 1/2 as long…
I’ve explored the possibilty that I find loo more entertaining than others do…
Or I’m just an asshole.
No you’re not. You’re a man of great experience, intelligence, wit, knowledge and courage. And an occasional prick.
Here’s the first installment of the Showtime series in its entirety. I found the segments with Kroon and Belt the best. Some good, honest emotion.

Well this is the thing about Bonds, people hate liars. especially higher courts. I always thought the case with Bill Clinton had to be the biggest waste of money ever!! So the perve lied about getting a BJ in the White House!! Who gives a rats ass!! I still believe Barry lied!! A lot of people do. This trial would have never happened. The question that was asked on KNBR this afternoon was does anyone think Bonds would have confessed had he known that he could be convicted on any of the counts against him.
Prosecutors have more than enough crimes to investigate and prosecute. They make choices based on likelihood of conviction, impact of conviction, severity of crime, resources, etc. The Bonds prosecution, especially after the judge threw out lots of evidence and Anderson clearly was going to rot in jail before testifying, should have stopped. But, prosecutorial hubris wouldn’t let it go. Barry pissed them off, and they wanted to take him down — rational thinking, waste of resources and insane costs be damned…
oops that sentence should have read This trial Should never have happened.
Totally sweet. Timmy just announced he is donating $25,000 to the Bryan Stow Fund. Team donated exactly ten grand. Interesting comparison. Know something? I dig that dude. Class act.
I’d be the first to say that Stix has no equal. Maybe everyone else here should just commit suicide.
I decline the invitation. I still have some very good Bourbon left that I cannot let waste. Besides, the Gyros just started hitting a little…
Even though no Giants game tonight, watching the Dodgers trail the Cardinals 4-2 is kind of cool.
Fairly small crowd at the Dodger game. I don’t think their fanbase has fully recovered from the fizzling of Mannywood.
—-
Ah, the great Yadier Molina with a horrendous passed ball, and now it’s 4-3 Cardinals.
Pujols with the HR down the line, where Dodger stadium has a short fence.
I’ve never been to a Dodger game in LA but it seems like the crowd on tv has gotten almost exclusively gangster. Stereotypes, whatever. I don’t see a lot of families sitting in the stands when they pan to the crowd. Skewer me on this if you like………
I was at the 4/1 game. We were surrounded by families. They are the ones who toss those fucking beach balls around.
