A Place To Talk About Giants Baseball

Turning the Page/Bochy Bashers/Vin Mazzaro…..

Posted in Uncategorized by Flavor on May 17, 2011

I thought that MacDog nailed it at the end of the last thread. No matter what you though of that play, Tim’s bad throw took the possibility of the double play out of the equation. I thought (and still think) that was a catchable ball. But it really had no bearing on the outcome of the game. Tim was terrible and I would also agree with Macdog that I haven’t seen Tim lose his composure like that since…..maybe the time he got pissed off at the Rockies for the “humidified” balls. But he was really more irritated than anything else and he seemed to feed off it that game. Last night, he fell apart…….

And with Dirrrrrty going tonight, I would be happy if he could just walk less than Tim did last night. I’ll take that and hope we have our hitting shoes on…..

For the Bochy detractors (and they were all over the airwaves last night and this morning): Are you serious? Calling out Bochy for leaving Tim in is uncalled for. The same people who are questioning his decision to leave him in to face CarGo need to also stand up and say they had complete faith in Jeremy Freaking Affeldt to get him out. Affeldt? He’s been horrendous lately. And Tim didn’t pitch that badly in that inning, with a good throw he already out of it with the double play. And the ball Tulo hit was almost caught by Franchez. It’s idiotic to rail on Bochy for taking Tim out to early (which we hear all the time) and then rail on him when he leaves him in a hitter too long….

And to Vin Mazzaro: Dude, I feel for you. The manager of the Royals (who is it? Yost?) should be disciplined for leaving him in the game that long. Letting him throw 78 pitches in 2 innings could easily have caused him to injure his arm (not to mention what 14 ER’s did to him psychologically) and then promptly optioning him to AAA shows how much they care about the arms of their pitchers. If I’m a KC pitcher I don’t trust one freaking person in the Royals organization, at any level, this morning…

Thirteen pitches to the 6,7 and 8 hitters gets Ubaldo to 99 total after six. So he may hang through seven. Actually one of DeRosa’s best AB’s as he dragged the count out a bit and then lined out deep. Maybe there is a shred of hope?

After all yesterday’s blather on the board, Drrrrty has been as efficient as a John Deere mower, clipping down the Rox on 72 pitches through six; a ratio of 12 per. If he maintains focus through the middle of the L.U., he could go 8 today. It would make for a well-rested BP.

Some consultant must have told the SF broadcasters to use: “[insert action]…And, that’s how this game [inning] starts off”. They started doing that this season, TV and radio. Picky, I know, but kinda annoying, IMO…

With his .235 up to the moment BA, perhaps Drrrty should have not been batting 9th today. Regulars with lower averages starting today include Huff, currently at .224; Fontenot at .208; Tejada with a .207 and still trying to recoup DeRosa at a sparkling .171.

Losing is frustrating. It reminds me of a Family Guy episode, that I vaguely remember. It went something like:
Peter was feeling frustrated, and said: “This is so frustrating. I haven’t been
this frustrated since Moby Dick was staying at our house.”
It cuts to a shot of Peter at the kitchen table with Moby Dick, the whale,
    sitting there, too.
    There’s an uncomfortable silence.
Moby Dick: “Do you have any Raisin Bran?”
Peter: “No….but we have some regular bran flakes, and we have some raisins.
You can put the raisins in the bran flakes. It would be the same thing as having
    Raisin Bran.”
Moby Dick: “It’s not the same.”
Peter: “What do you mean, it’s not the same. It’s bran flakes and raisins.”
    Moby Dick: “IT’s….NOT….THE….SAME!”

He suffered and died from burns in a fire on November 30 at a vacant house he owned in Sugar Land, Texas. He was 45 years of age. Police have never determined if his death was a homicide, suicide, or an accident. Sad.

      Gee, thanks blade!!!
Sad thing is, I’ve actually had to explain this to some of my customers and non-customers. Two guys just last week because the name of the bank in his email was similar to the name of my bank and he thought we were a branch of a bank in Nigeria. Poor sap even had a $600K fake check with him. Money, or the thought of it, can make a lot of even decent people pretty damn stupid.

Yeah a friend of mine, his mom (in her late 80s) has given upwards of $120,000 to clowns like this. He took over her finances, but not fast enough.

Obviously, they were suffering from dementia, right? I can see myself at 80 years old, with phlegm dribbling down my chin, thinking astutely, “Boy, oh boy, I am going to take this guy Meueller to the cleaners . . .”

        However, I am not 80 . . . yet.

Actually, they’re two different things. One is elder abuse or its technical term Elder Financial Exploitation. The other is relying on good old human greed.

However he died, Chris Brown’s service showed how absurd many notions of what makes a man really are. Ridiculed for his hypochondria, he demonstrated bravery on a far greater stage than a baseball field…

    • TedSpe's avatar TedSpe said, on May 17, 2011 at 5:53 pm

Well, it took bravery sure. But just to be clear, he wasn’t a soldier. He worked for Halliburton

      • twinfan's avatar twinfan said, on May 17, 2011 at 6:04 pm

        I know what he did.

    • TedSpe's avatar TedSpe said, on May 17, 2011 at 6:11 pm

That’s fine, it wasn’t necessarily posted directly to you. I was just trying to be clear for the edification of everyone who may not have known

It was somewhat more dangerous than fielding a sacrifice bunt..

Now THAT was a funny line, Twin.
I’d put it right up there with my recent favorites: Loo being on pace to get laid 730 times in 1985, Dennis asking for another bedtime story, and Ted and Snark noting all of the different butt types.

    I shoulda read down further.

Yes, Chris Brown beggd out of a game once for “sleeping on his eye wrong.”

He had myriad issues and a pretty short career. Heard about his death, but I didn’t know the mysterious circumstances around it. I thought he died in Iraq as well, as a contract trucker out there . . .

    Clemente was a notable hypochondriac..

it’s funny how the brain can play tricks on you. I would have bet $1k that Brown died in Iraq. I still remember reading that. Still. Even now.

watching HAWK try to post here is funny; all the venom just harmlessly flows into my spam filter…….

  72. Flavor's avatar Flavor said, on May 17, 2011 at 7:23 pm

sometimes it’s just some idiotic one liner. But my favorite is when he writes a paragraph of utter nonsense, he probably proof reads it 50 times and spends half the morning crafting it. Then he hits “post comment”. And the only person to ever see it is me when I check my spam filter once a day. Good times……

Is that the chump that is always bustin Chuck’s nuts on his site? Or is that Nipper? What is it with Chuck and the blog stalkers anyway?

    • Unca Chuck's avatar Unca Chuck said, on May 17, 2011 at 8:06 pm

Different guy. Dude’s been hassling me for 4 years. It started on the Niner Insider. Took him 1.5 years to find my site. This is when I discovered what a horrensously shitty host blogspot was. I forced him to come up with a registered ID, but the site lets HIM block his email from my view. To block his posts and get his email, they want ME to send them a copy of my photo ID.

I’m shutting that down at some point during this lockout.

  74. Flavor's avatar Flavor said, on May 17, 2011 at 7:32 pm

No, Chuck has his own group to deal with. I don’t think those guys blog it up here. He’s at blogger.com, it’s a dumb site for blocking chumps. It’s the main reason I moved here. There are few blog-things I like better than watching some idiot craft out some dumbass, venom spewing post and then no one reads it but he and I…..

I think Dennis (and me) is about the only one that frequents both. Grumpy Guy used to post here (I think) . . .

  75. Flavor's avatar Flavor said, on May 17, 2011 at 7:34 pm

Dear idiot Trolls who I block: Just send me an email, it’s more efficient. No muss no fuss. Please send all venom-spewing idiotic, moronic, dumbass posts to: bigflavor77@gmail.com
Everything else you got, post it at the Splash…….
