A Place To Talk About Giants Baseball

Florida Series and Geren/Fuentes

Posted in Uncategorized by Flavor on May 24, 2011

Look, Fuentes is an extreme *P* for going to the press with his Geren tirade last night. Just suck it up and take your 7th loss like a professional. But he did disclose some interesting info about Geren and it amazes me that Beane’s best bud can keep a gig like this for so many years. At some point the A’s have to upgrade that job, right?
Florida is a tricky team. Stanton might lead the NL is hr’s this year. Morrison is the real deal, too. HanRam is having the worst year of his career. Luckily we miss JJ who’s on the DL but Anibel Sanchez., when he’s throwing strikes, is almost as hard to hit as our own Dirrrrrty Sanchez. He’s almost dirrrrrtier……..

Should be a fun series. I’ll say we sweep going  2-1, 1-0, 5-3……….

No, the hysteria is because of the irresponsible and irrelevant SF Fan/Dodger Fan angle that was played up. And stop talking down to me. I’ve attended hundreds of games at both SF venues and a few in LA- no security could prevent what happened. Parking lots at all of these stadiums are safe only because there are generally hundreds of witnesses, doesn’t have shit to do with security.

It’s not remotely similar, those were people in their apartments. If 38 of them are on the scene, the attack never occurs.

  3. Flavor's avatar Flavor said, on May 24, 2011 at 6:34 pm

Sorry, but it’s not because of that. It’s because of what happened to Stow. It’s because of the injuries he’s incurred. There’s *hysteria* because it’s such an unusual circumstance. People get the shit kicked out of them all the time in the Tenderloin. People get killed there. The public is used to it. A baseball fan getting beaten to within an inch of his life and in a coma for 2 months? Sorry, that’s unusual. People step up and take notice when something like that happens. And it happened at a place that is universally considered to be a safe environment. The Giants/Dodgers rivalry thing played a small piece in people paying attention to it. The Stow Family spends a lot of time keeping Bryan in the news. Their blog alone is updated all the time.
If their lawsuit highlights a letdown in security at Dodger stadium I hope they get as much as they can possibly get from those 2 divorcing fools……

It’s because some want to make it what it isnt: Dodger fans attack Giants’ fan. It will get worse with the Gomez arrest. I’m done with this unless you persist-I have a valid take on this, yours is hardly Bible. There are still many details forthcoming…

  7. Flavor's avatar Flavor said, on May 24, 2011 at 6:57 pm

I’m looking forward to the details that come out, too. Did Stow play any role in this in terms of instigation? In no way does it excuse what the attackers did but it would be interesting to find out if this was completely random or something that had a start to it where Stow participated…….

  14. xootsuit's avatar xootsuit said, on May 24, 2011 at 7:51 pm

The Stow lawsuit story I read included a summary of attacks on Giants fans at Dodger Stadium in recent years. Several severe beatings; a stabbing death.

Stow apparently was with a group of guys in Giants gear who got hassled seriously throughout the game. Who knows how they responded. May not matter. You would think a season opener, against a WChamp Giants team that humiliated the bums the preceding year, would warrant some extra security. LA had a terrible problem with gang stuff at the Coliseum when the Raiders were there, and it appears the same sort of thing got going at Dodger Stadium the past few years. The McCourt’s really did fuck things up.

      • TedSpe's avatar TedSpe said, on May 24, 2011 at 8:18 pm

Okay. I did read about the stabbing. But it wasn’t an L.A. vs S.F. thing. The shooting death I didn’t know about. I guess the lack of press for other occurences…twin’s right. The hysteria is “sexy” media. Opening day, WS Champions, folks in Dodgers gear against folks in Giants gear.

Krukow’s comment made ZERO reference to knowing that he’d just spent the last month on the DL. He spoke of him being *hot* as if that 24 game streak was uninterrupted. If you’re a MLB broadcaster, know the details of the players of the game you are calling. He fucked up and I called him on it. And then you unbelievably post some stupid shit that suggests I didn’t know he was in the game. I would say “FUCK YOU” but that would be rude. STFU doesn’t really cover it. It’s not a fucking argument, it is an unprovoked attack. I tried to explain why my first post was incomplete- he is essentially mocking my deficit in refusing to acknowledge the explanation.

They had a helluva win streak…hadda lose eventually. So odds are, I won’t fuck their mojo tomorrow.
    Still division leads.
    Fuck it.
Still some great moments by some Giants tonight

I couldn’t give less of a shit about that. I’m specifically targeting you on your dumbass, ignorant, uninformed, clueless 8:03pm comment……

That’s the incomplete one , how many times does it have to be pointed out?

  68. Flavor's avatar Flavor said, on May 24, 2011 at 10:15 pm

Sorry, I’m not buying that. That was a crisp, clear, clean post. just a quick LU post. And it had “fuck you” written all over it. GO fuck with the do-nothing fuck ups at the Splash. I know who is playing in the game. I know who their fucking grand parents are. I know what they ate for dinner tonight. I know who’s playing left fucking field for the Marlins…….

it’s quite possible there is a gap in communication. Re-state where you were going with that 8:03 post….

OK Flappers and Flapperettes. Not baseball related but we’ve got some rain going through now (although the heat lightening is a bit much) and we fucking needed it. In the little village where I live, we have been on an hour to hour notice for evacuation for the last couple of days. We’re in the middle of a huge ass wildfire here and hopefully whatever rain we get tonight will help so it doesn’t jump the road. I wish the Giants would have won tonight but at the very least, it was a nice distraction for me. It’s late but I’ve got a couple more animals to round up (damn cats). So gotta go, if you have a chance, think rain my way. We’d sure appreciate it here.
Photos and info can be found here if you’re interested.

    Navajo Rain Chant

    Far as man can see,
    Comes the rain,
    Comes the rain with me.
    From the Rain-Mount,
    Rain-Mount far away,
    Comes the rain,
    Comes the rain with me.
    O’er the corn,
    O’er the corn, tall corn,
    Comes the rain,
    Comes the rain with me.
    ‘Mid the lightnings,
    ‘Mid the lightnings zigzag,
    ‘Mid the lightnings flashing,
    Comes the rain,
    Comes the rain with me.
    ‘Mid the swallows,
    ‘Mid the swallows blue,
    Chirping glad together,
    Comes the rain,
    Comes the rain with me.
    Through the pollen,
    Through the pollen blest,
    All in pollen hidden,
    Comes the rain,
    Comes the rain with me.
    Far as man can see,
    Comes the rain,
    Comes the rain with me.

Thanks guys. Hopefully this little storm will help (well if the wind doesn’t shift). We’ve pretty much got our Ps together (pets, prescription meds, phones, papers and photos etc.) but the triage on the stuff you can bring is weird. Steve, I know you’ve been through this, but deciding that a drum set I’ve had with me for 35 years, would/will stay, bummed me out. Baseball memorabilia, a lot of that shit has to stay. LPs (1,000s and some outta print stays). My cymbals and favorite snare drum go with but it’s just weird deciding this crap. We’ve been lucky with a mostly miss on a hurricane (November?) and some misses with freak tornados, so I’m hoping for a swing and a miss on this.
I’d use the line from Airplane “Looks like I picked the wrong week to quit smoking. ” but if you look at the photos you can tell we’ve been sucking smoke since we got back from New Orleans.
Again this wasn’t something y’all needed to think about so sorry about that.
