A Place To Talk About Giants Baseball

Clayton Richard Sucks And the Ticket Booth is OPEN!!!!!!!!

Posted in Uncategorized by Flavor on July 5, 2011

I don’t know why we can’t hit Richard. He was lucky last year and he’s been imminently hittable this year. THis guy has a WHIP nearing Tyler Walker Territory. Whatever, it was just a bad game, I guess. Maybe we had a bit of a hangover from the road trip….

Timmy sucked again. In fact, the entire team (except Pablo) looked flat. I hope we don’t fall into a rut against the Padres again, we play 20% of our remaining games against them this year……

Anna is offering up her July 7th tickets. There are two of them. It’s a 7:15pm game. Email me if you want them. They’re free as usual and as usual ANNA RULES……

The Flap Fantasy Baseball League Standings

(Haven’t posted them in a while. Not much has changed. Pawlie still rules our world. Blade is making a little noise. BB’s has settled nicely into the mid 40’s)

Yeah it appears the Padres just have the Giants number!! Dennis said it all yesterday…Ownage is ownage.
Oh and to follow up on your doctor thing, people can live to 100 or 125 or whatever, it is that Quality of life thing. Laying in bed and pooping and pissing all over does not make me look forward to that time. My grandmother lived to 95, but her mind and body did not want to go on. A machine could have helped her but once again that quality of life factor comes into play.

Better not stagger into the all star break. Gotta chance to beat up 2 bad teams at home. Carlos Lee & Jeff Keppinger can’t get here soon enough. Someone on the pregame radio show said Freddie was swinging a fungo bat and DeRosa is done for the year.

Right team, wrong two players. I’d rather have Michael Bourn and Hunter Pence. This team needs a goddamn leadoff hitter. We can’t get trotting Rowand out there. Torres? Ahhhh, to be 2010 again…he’s finito.

Yeah they also talked about Sanchez throwing the ball not on the pitchers mound. Posey also said he is pain free and walking without a boot?? not sure about that last part but is did say he is pain free for the first time since the collision.

I see my FB team crapped all over itself while I was gone. Oh well. Saw some of the 15-3 game, and little else over the weekend. Good times in Aptos . . .The Cafe Rio reopened, and the sand dabs are as good as they used to be. And the Sea Breeze was open. Needless to say, we had fun. Even won a couple rounds of beers shooting pool.

Saw about 6 different fireworks shows on the drive back last night . . . Amazingly there was little traffic.

Yeah, i don’t think my social security will last from 65 to 850. What is this, biblical times? We’re all Methuselah? Shit, I’m tired now. Just wait till I hit 650.

Quality or quantity of life? Would you rather lead the life and have all the amenities of a famous athlete but know once you reach 40, you die. OR, lead your “regular” life and live to be 80? I woulda been dead 5 yrs ago today…

pads are a funny story…fell apart during the stretch but made the Giants strain all the way to the last day, when Sanchez finally puts them to rest. Then they dump one of the best players in either league, their only legit middle order bat.
Ludwick is finding out hitting in Diego aint like STL, Maybin disappoints just like he did in Fla; Bartlett might not be any better than crawford in a year. But just like SF, SPs and the pen keep them in games, and I give black a lot of credit for what they have accomplished. And they sure give SF a bad time, worse than a lot of teams with a lot higher payroll and more “stars.”

  7. twinfan1's avatar twinfan1 said, on July 5, 2011 at 11:50 am

They’re 1-2 against the Pads, ferchrissake. Give it a rest on “ownage”, and these things rarely carry over. As far as Torres being “finito”, we’ll see. I think they need to get him back in there everyday. His first AB yesterday he came within a couple feet of putting it out the other way-only the big boys come close to that. I’ll reiterate- they have no other leadoff hitter, none. With all the bullshit about Huff and Ross, the holes are 1-2 and 7-8, the 1 being most important. Play Torres.

There’s just a lot of not-very-bright people out there, and some of them end up on juries.
Olbermann showed a poll yesterday that only 70% of Americans knew what nation we declared our independence from on July 4th; and only 55% knew it was in the year 1776.
    Pathetic.

What’s our OF gonna look like tonight? I doubt Ross will be able to go. Rowand or Torres is CF? The limited numbers vs Stauffer say Rowand is the choice despite the righty-lefty thinking. I guess Nate’s a “lock” for RF. LF? I say you stick Huff out there with Tejada at 3B and Pablo at 1B. Just my two cents…

    • zumie's avatar zumie said, on July 5, 2011 at 12:39 pm

One of the problems with the Giants’ lineup is too much Nate. There’s no way an MLB team should have Nate playing this much. But- I know the choices are very limited these days. Burrell isn’t much better than what he showed in the World Series. He just looks done. He made a huge contribution to the Giants’ success last season, but his good moments are few and far between these days. He doesn’t seem to be recognizing pitches and the strikezone very well anymore..

He did that, they claimed, just before notifying authorities in an effort to cash in on the high-profile case.”

Did it take place in at least a seasonally hot climate? I do happen to know that NW European brainpans were not designed for high levels of heat and humiliated relatives. Hereabouts a couple hours ago the temp was around 80, humidity close to off the scale and the Goddamns swarming like locusts, all looking for the most tender place to land and take a telling chomp. Kevin, when you visit here, just think of it as a Billy Mays or Ron Popeil infomercial . . .

Chop-O-Matic hand food processor. “Ladies and gentlemen, I’m going to show you the greatest kitchen appliance ever made … All your onions chopped to perfection without shedding a single tear.”
Dial-O-Matic, successor to the Veg-O-Matic (and very similar to a mandolin slicer). “Slice a tomato so thin it only has one side.”
Popeil Pocket Fisherman. “The biggest fishing invention since the hook … and still only $19.95!” (According to the program Biography, the original product was the invention of Popeil’s father and only marketed by Ronco, but as of 2006, Popeil had introduced a redesigned version of the product.)[4]
Mr. Microphone: a short-range hand-held radio transmitter that broadcast over FM radios. A convertible rolls up to a curb and an enthusiastic young man shouts out “Hey, good looking, I’ll be back to pick you up later!” followed by the pitch “Broadcast your voice on any FM radio!!!”
Inside-The-Shell Egg Scrambler. “Gets rid of those slimy egg whites in your scrambled eggs.” Popeil has said the inspiration for this product was his lifelong revulsion toward incompletely blended scrambled eggs.[4]
    Six Star 20-Piece Cutlery Set
Showtime Rotisserie, a small rotisserie oven designed for cooking smaller sized portions of meat such as whole chicken and lamb. “Set it, and forget it!”
Solid Flavor Injector. This product accompanied the Showtime Rotisserie and was used to inject solid ingredients into meat or other foods. A similar product, called the Liquid Flavor Injector, allowed for the injecting of liquid ingredients into meat, e.g., lime juice into chicken.
GLH-9 Hair in a Can Spray (Great Looking Hair Formula #9)
    Drain Buster
Smokeless Ashtray: “Does cigar and cigarette smoke irritate your eyes?” Commercials showed this device drawing smoke from burning cigarettes back into the ashtray itself.
Electric Food Dehydrator: “Instead of giving kids candy, give them apple snacks or banana chips. And it’s great if you’re a hunter, fisherman, backpacker, or camper. Makes beef jerky for around $3 a pound, and you know what went in it, because you made it yourself!”
    Ronco Popeil Automatic Pasta Maker
The Cap Snaffler: “Snaffles caps off any size jug, bottle, or jar … and it really, really works.”
The Showtime Six Star Plus 25 Knife Set and the Solid Flavor Injector: “Three easy payments of $13.33!”

I happened to catch the end of the game replay on Comcast last night, and watched mainly to get some persepective on the difference between watching the game from the stands and from the tv cameras. Nothing new jumped out at me, except one detail: In the 9th, when Heath Bell threw the wild pitch that moved the runners up, the stadium sound system began booming the Troggs “WILD THING! YOU MAKE MY HEAR SING! YOU MAKE EVERYTHING GROOVY. . . .” etc. And, really, it went on for quite a while, with all 42000+us singing along at the tops of our lungs, with scoreboard WILD THING signs blazing, and so forth.

Bell, of course, showed no sign of caring. Very professional. But, strangely, the tv replay I saw last night included absolutely no hint of that huge high-volume racous razzing. Not a trace of it got into the telecast.

I have a very strong feeling that Carlos Lee willl soon be a Giant. I don’t think he’ll cost much in prospects either, depending on how much of his salary they’ll pick up. He’s got about $9 million left this year and $18.5 million in 2012. His no trade clause expired. We’d have him next season as well when he’s playing for a contract. Good numbers at ATT (6 HRs in 19 games). Shit, the Astros would save $10 million if they just took Rowand straight up for him.

Some people compare the Casey Anthony case to the Scott Peterson case, and there are lots of similarities; but it also reminds me of the Hitchcock film “Rope.” The sociopath Casey partied while her dead child’s body was in the trunk of her car, and then put the body in the woods when the odor in the car got too strong after several days, and went on partying some more. That sociopath in “Rope,” kills the guy, puts the body in a trunk, puts the trunk under a big table, and then invites a bunch of people over for big party, in the room with the table.

Flav’s 5:01pm post is spot on and if you want to anoint it POTD, do so . . . I could give a rat’s ass about any of these position players, exception being Panda. They are ALL interchangeable pieces and nothing more. As Flav said, “Just grit yer teeth and hope one guy does something at the right time at the plate.”

Twenty years from now, do you think a kid will reminisce about Cody Ross or these other unknowns the way we did about Willie Mays, Will Clark, Orlando Cepeda . . . or, even Robbie Thompson? I doubt it.

What will we do!?!?!?!”. Um, Burriss is hitting .230 with 4 rbi’s this year. Plus, countless fuck ups in the field. I will never forget that complete fuck up the other day that almost cost us the game (when Crawford caught that DP ball to end it)……..

I didn’t follow the case. And most of what I know about Florida law I learned watching Body Heat (quite a few times). One thing I did by chance learn years ago, however, is that in Florida in a criminal case the defendant’s lawyer has the right to take depositions of the prosecution’s witnesses. (In California, not so. You only get depositions as a mater of right in civil cases.) That means a decent Florida criminal defense lawyer can learn everything an adverse witness knows and lock him or her into a specific set of facts and zero in on his or her weaknesses and character flaws and get a good sense of how the witness will handle testifying under oath. Makes cross-examination at trial much more effective. Who woulda thought — Florida gives defendants a big break like that. Sounds to me like the prosecution’s various witnesses in this case were pretty fucking miserable. So . . . . . That’s my guess.

I don’t think we ever got a straight answer on that. We even asked the Gloating Rooster (Dodger fan) at the time, and he didn’t know. It was kind of weird. The Dodgers were having a magical season, and then Hudson got benched for some reason. They were literally catching lucky breaks all over the place that season. I’ll never forget that two-out ninth-inning error by Feliz to give the Dodgers a victory over the Phillies that season.
