Another Extra Inning Win
What can you say about last night’s win? After Tejada and Torres failed miserably with the bases loaded and nobody out, our ol’ fallback (the other team making a mistake) came to the rescue yet again. Thank God for Gregerson, he actually should have been player of the game……
Timmy going tonight. I don’t know much at all about Moseley. His 2-8 record is offset by a 3.21 ERA so apparently he’s got a little “Bumgarner” luck in him….
Short and sweet today, see you guys……..
So it’s Zitshit tomorrow, right? Sounds like they’re gonna pair Hector with the unicorn. I’m already a big Hector fan. Heard the pregame interview tonight and he won me over. Seems like a nice young man and good kid. I like that in my ball players. Provided they can play, but of course…
Aren’t the Friars throwing the lefty, Luebke tomorrow? Let’s see if Bochy allows Torres to face the lefty. I say he goes with the numbers and starts Rowand vs the lefty. We shall see. We shall see…
Why the fuck wouldn’t he go with Rowand.? It’s kinda working ,DD.
Never said otherwise, Twin. For all his faults, and there’s been many, Rowand has murdered left’handed pitching this year. The numbers speak for themselves. It’s just see Rowand in the leadoff spot that rubs me the wrong way. But when you look at the alternatives…?
I can dig POTG for Torres. But, he’s got to produce offensively. Love the D, but that alone won’t feed the bulldog. Like BF says, he’s not the only one, they all need to get off their collective butts and start producing. Get one new bat in here, and maybe that will spark some things…
Well, duh. He did hit tonight, nimrod. Even BF had to give him POTG..Why would you knock the guy on a night when he did to it all.
I gave him POTG, he deserved it. What’s the gripe? Stop protecting his ass. He’s been crap for an extended period, even the Giants announcers have been on his case. Tonight, he put it together. He needs to do more than one good offensive game every two weeks. He needs to get consistent at the plate, or he’s not here next year, the Giants management has no investment in him whatever. You can book that….
Fuck that “Orson” shit. The Padres were down 5-1 when they decided to pitch around Pablo in the 7th. They used a very chickenshit application of that chapter in the book as an excuse to take an AB away from him. The ploy required a coach’s trip to the mound to set up. Set up the DP in the 7th, with the heart of the order up. Right. In the 9th? Ok. IN the 8th, yeah. In the 7th? Fucking assholes.
Counselor, the inning is immaterial. Ask yourself, would you rather pitch to the red-hot hitting Pablo with 2 RISP , OR face Schierholtz with a force available at every bag. The Padres made the correct and calculated move. If you were in Bud Black’s situation and did anything otherwise I’d have to send you to Brian Murphy’s Coaching Camp for Dummies next summer. π
I’ve posted several times about his terrible slump, but I didn’t give up on him .. And what “I told you so”? YOU do that. I just gave you a well deserved jab about your absurd POTG selections. And why do keep bringing Ross up? He’s leads the team in OBP and is third in OPS…
“the Friars”? wtf is up with this mid-summer blizzard of cliches? Get off that fucking medication asap.
A month ago Torres WAS stil the MVP( by WAR) as per FanGraphs and Baseball Prospectus (among position players). As of today, he’s third to Pablo and Nate. No doubt he’ll move past Nate soon.
After tonight the G’s have 68 games remaining. Where has it gone? Anywho, w/o looking up their schedule and checking each and every roster for potential lefties, a nice round number of 25% left-handers would give Torres 50-51 more starts from those 68 games if Bochy goes strictly lefty-righty. Beltran has Dave Kingman-like numbers vs the left-handers. Low batting avg., but many times he’s left the plate to go and do a little yard work. I dunno. I’m already thinking about our Game 1 lineup for the NLDS. I know I shouldn’t, but I can’t help it. And like I’ve been saying all along, we need some OUTSIDE help for the postseason. I hope Sabean doesn’t disappoint me and the others. I think with a few more pieces we can repeat this mofo. But we need some help. OUTSIDE help, I say…
But now we have a “Wild Card” in Hector. Who knows, maybe he lights the world on fire from the gitgo. If not, we’ll always have NO Whitey as our fallback plan. I’d hate to be the architect who had to come up with those plans. Can ya imagine drawing that up? Sounds like a job for Art Vandelay.
Nice. Come home from a little party. Bit buzzed on Grain Belt Premium. No cops on my country roads home. Almost no traffic. Hit the computer room. No tension. No edginess. No frets. Obviously a Giants victory. Sure nuff. Timmy may not have been great but we’re talking the Pads, right? Don’t even think the word that goes with brooms, but 3 of 4 in Dago would be fine by me. Only need to get greedy when its critical.
Somewhat here on the Flap, but heavyduty over on Baggarly’s site, folks were dooming on Torres. That proved a bit precipitous. Looming presence of Belt maybe a bit responsible for Cody’s dinger. Team seems to be melding. Clean ninth by Mota. Affeldt was OK and Romo did his four pitches and out. Wilson gets a rest with the 6-1. All good.
Hector draws a walk in his baptism under fire. That should help him relax a bit. Team right now reminds me of the old horse getting close to the stable and catching a whiff of the oats already. Looks like the ownage may be switching with this series. With all the games remaining with SD, if ownage is the case, Giants are looking dominant in the West. Amazing team ~ losing two of your best hitters and the team leader behind the plate, but picking it up and now starting to cruise. Its the pitching, stupid. But that’s not all. The spirit is coming back into focus. Braves and Phillies better get their shit together. Giants may be on a roll.
