A Place To Talk About Giants Baseball

Avoiding a Sweep

Posted in Uncategorized by Flavor on August 3, 2011

Last night was brutal. Upton’s catch was astounding. I’m not sure if Beltran can hit a ball much harder. After he got brushed back with that high fastball you could see it in his eyes that he wanted to pound the ball. He did, that’s just *tip your cap* and move on. The Snakes have one thing going for them: confidence. I think they’re just too young and clueless to know any better and I guess that’s a good thing, right?

Voggy at home is usually a pretty good bet. Will someone other than Sandoval and Beltran be able to get a hit?

Made my day. Off the ledge (stepping inward not outward).

Who “needed” help isn’t the only issue; also relevant is who can take advantage of help. Pablo, right now, can take advantage of everything.

We’ll see what Bochy does going forward. His intention was that it be for one day according to what he said at the press conference. But I’m sure he’ll now go with it a bit depending on match ups. He might have just hoped Panda would get any extra AB against Marquis, who he had 2 HR in 14 AB against. At any rate, Panda can and has hit without Beltran. Carlos is a good hitter who improves the offense, Whether he makes Pablo better is still uncertain. He managed to squeeze out .330 25-90 .943 without him. Of course he’s their best fucking hitter.

‘Song’s stretch of 10 straight home games with 2.0 or fewer earned runs is best for SF since Scott Garrelts’s stretch in the 1980s. His home ERA is 1.30, best in MLB. Imagine, just imagine, if the brass didn’t bet on this kid and left him in Fresno. What I’m saying is: I’m so happy for this kid and for what he has meant to this team. It’s better than a Showtime movie.

Bochy called it the season’s biggest game. I call it a tourniquet win.

‘Song hands out the hymnals and all sing on the same page: “Hallelujah!”

I predicted this glorious win on a glorious day, and Panda and Voggie getting it done, in spades.

Perhaps you don’t read others posts Snarkk. But a few of us also predicted a win today. But, Tra la la away.

Panda can bat lead off for all I care, the dude is hot. It was great to see the Giants string some hits together and the new guys contribute. Bring on the Philstros,
Cliff Lee, he’s a dead man. Neidermeyer … Dead. What? Over? Did you say “over”? Nothing is over until we decide it is! Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor? Hell no!

For Giants fans it was a great day. Coming off a bad stretch they are always special. Bochy can figure it out better than anyone. I’m glad the newer guys came through big time.

Yeah, if only to shut the douchebag Phillies fans up again.

    Always worth a laugh or 3 . . .

The G-men take 3 of 4, and they’ll all be on the ledge with Dennis.

Marquis looked terrible, and I don’t mean his pitching. Looked like they grabbed a homeless guy for the start..
    Pawlie’s posts are always gold.

Loo, you’ll get POTY, no prob. I just wish Babbler and the Troll would post here for a little competition for you on the one liners, which should really be a categary of it’s own.Paul, Pawlie, Stix, the Eds,Bozo, Snarkk, X, Z, all write at length, and mostly well.
I might reinstitute the Boykins on the Splash this year. The Room B awards should be a melee.

Thanks, Magnus and Twin, for the golden compliments. Aw, shucks!

But, yeah, Loo’s one-liners are better than a Catskill comedian’s. I love it when Loo goes all Brooklyn on us.

My kid claims to be able to see the future. After today’s game, the augurs show him this: Pablo, MVP. I would dismiss his vision as a childish dream if it weren’t for those notions he had last year, about this time . . . .

    • twinfan1's avatar twinfan1 said, on August 3, 2011 at 8:41 pm

But did he fall out of a tree?

      • xootsuit's avatar xootsuit said, on August 3, 2011 at 9:03 pm

Not last year. He did get an orange cast earlier this year. No correlative.

Cabrera certainly doesn’t appear to be a negative infuence- looks like he’s always laughing, having a good time. And he looks the best of the SS lot all around….
Fathead- if you want Belt in the 4, just have me guarantee he won’t. That kind of magic costs bucks, though. Big bucks.

Speaking of oracles, my daughter assuredly said 2 of 3 losses to the Snakes, with an air of “Dad, calm down, it happens, listen to me.”
