Not Exactly Home Cookin’
I started compiling all of these disgusting offensive stats and then just stopped jotting numbers down. Everyone knows how bad it is, looking at the details of it isn’t going to change anything. I think it SEEMS worse than it is because we had such underwhelming pitching over the last 3 series. It wasn’t all bad, Bumgarner pitched beautifully the other night. But if we don’t hold the opponent to 3 runs or fewer we likely lose….
Thank God for this off day. Actually, it will be tough to tell it’s an off day since we will score right around our run per/gm average whether we play a game or not…….
I’m glad the wild card isn’t going to be within reach for us (likely out of reach, anyway). If we can’t put the crap d-backs away I don’t want to have to watch this team get swept in the first round of the playoffs. The way things are going, even if we win the West, who has any confidence at all in this team? As I’ve said for months now, this offense isn’t close to last year’s offense and with almost no power threat to go along with Beltran’s one arm, I just don’t see any hope right now at all……..
As long as we have Twin rooting the team on there’s hope.
Giants have hit 19 consecutive homers with bases empty. 1st time since 1914 phils! (sf gate). Last multirun homer 7/6…
A friend sent me a stat saying the Giants have scored 100 fewer runs than last year up to this point. RISP is the worst for the Giants.
Well, the hope is that they can’t continue to hit this poorly. They were winning ugly before this recent downturn.
Timely late hits and shit like that. No reason to think it can’t happen again.
Shit, these guys hit better on the road anyway . . .
BLEEP IT, the neighbors BLEEP too!
And a note about Beltran. I don’t think he gives a shit if he comes back or not. Boras is his agent, he’s getting PAID next year. He was having a great season up till he got here, Boras will just use those numbers to get him another 100 million…..
All these guys want to win, tho. Where else could he go and get a big contract and win and stay in the NL? He knows SF has better pitching than anyone and a great fan base. If Mil and STL re-sign Fielder and Pujols, they couldn’t afford him, and Philly either. There’s worse places to play.
No matter how much money they threw at him, Adrian Beltre wasn’t coming to bottom feeder Oakland.
I said a week ago, comparing the Phils and SF at this time, when they appear headed in opposite directions, isn’t really fair or accurate. Wasn’t that long ago we whipped them twice in their yard and only lost a Z start. I believe in the strength of pitching and D of this team whole heartedly.
However…the F bomb (fluke) has to be considered, in this sense: a number of Giants last year had exemplary seasons that were if not best in career were better than previous ones that might not be duplicated again. I would put Uribe, Huff, torres, ross (late year and post season), burrell and Freddy Sanchez in that category, and it’s not out of the question to say the same for Posey and Jonathan sanchez also.
quick shout out to SanDawg: Aaron Gordon, junior to be and younger bro of head case drew, scored 29 in a losing effort at final game of SF Pro Am league. this kid lit up the WCAL, best league on this side of bay area, for Mitty as a soph last year, and will attract quite a lot of attention nationally. He has more guard skills, defensive ability and less “issues” than older bro. Less muscle/leaner body, but can weave his way through people on offense and smarter player
When he was in 7th grade, I coached against him, and beat his team twice to win the local public school league finals in an undefeated season. But he could take over a game then and we couldn’t stop him; he won the next year (I had a different age level) and hasn’t looked back since, winning league titles and state honors.
I warned against getting Beltran due to concern about injury. Bochy said this morning on KNBR they gave him a cortisone shot yesterday in the wrist. Sounded almost certain he won’t play tomorrow, maybe not Saturday, would not rule out the DL. Cortisone happens when you don’t know what’s going on, other than it hurts. Meanwhile, in August since he’s been with Braves, in 9 games Bourn has 7 runs scored, BA .308, OBP .364, Braves went 6-3 on the ROAD….
Bochy was also pretty much to the point on Sanchi. He’s going to get the next start. But, it was obvious Bochy wasn’t happy, and if Sanchi doesn’t get it together on the next one, Giants won’t hesitate to make some kind of move to that spot in the rotation…
you can’t make a trade because you’re worried about a guy getting injured. I had questions about him, too, mostly related to how long his legs would hold up. His knee is the only thing he’s ever had that was majorly wrong with him (I think). Who predicted a wrist/hand injury?
The Murph and Ma guys were not too kind to Dirrrrty this morning when critiquing his post game comments……
Pawlie, I dropped the DVD in the mail this morning. Enjoy it……
One more Bochy moment. If you think Belt has a shot at playing time of any consequence this season, from the sound of Bochy today, you can forget that, unless the bottom falls out of the season. IMO, a very negative vibe given off on Belt’s situation this year. If I’m the kid and I get that internally, he’s got to wonder WTF is going on. That cute moment of him crying when Bochy told him he made the team seems to be in an alternative universe from the tone I heard this morning…
I expect belt will be starting in left field on Saturday. Nate might hit the DL and Beltran almost certainly will. Book it.
I would luv to see Belt get time, but not because of necessity from DL moves. I found Bochy’s vibe on him this morning to be quite poor. How that translates when Belt is in the dugout and clubhouse I’d like to know. Anyway, I agree with you on Beltran, I’ll be surprised if he plays in Miami or Atlanta, Giants are doing their usual MO with an injury — delay the bad news like it might turn, then boom, “oh yeah, we had to DL him last night”. If Beltran goes on the DL, his trade just went south from questionable to suckage…
Where’s Twin to counter Snarkk……we need some positive vibes here!
You’re booking “might” and “almost”?
Sorry to interject the daily correction, but Pablo is a bigger power threat than Beltran with 13 in 290 AB
to Beltrans 15 in 398. And Beltran has none at ATT in over 100 PA. The statement should have correctly read “no power threat except Sandoval”,,,
Anyway- pay attention- we still have far better pitching than AZ and as some of you who were sober for the stretch last year might have noticed- pitching wins titles. My double digit divisionwin has indeed taken a hit, about 5 sounds right, juuust enough for Bochy to rest some guys for the PS.
As to this “career year” theory, there are some arguable inclusions ( Huff, Fruckie, Burrell, Posey) and also some players who had poor years are omitted ( Pablo, Rent, Molina,Rowand, Shitholtz, nothing from DeRosa). I’d suspect that pretty much any WS champ has some guys who had real good years. Probably that’s kinda why they won.
The biggest difference this year is the injury hit, yet they’re right there. Since we have jumpers again this year, how about a friendly wager? I’ll put up 10 bucks on SF and pay 20 if AZ takes it.
Right on time!
Even before Beltran’s injury, I told you that Belt’s demotion was a mistake not because of Huff but the OF situation, mostly Grok. Belt and Huff both have to play. That’s obviously more true now with Cave Boy having his injury. Bummer is that Belt is sucking in Fresno ( yeah, yeah, it’s a broken heart). No matter, they have to try. They also have to get Ross in every day, he can get as hot as he’s been cold. That means Torres, Belt or Huff, and Ross in the OF.They also need at least the chance of some pop off the bench- Hall cleared waivers- goodbye to Font, Hall up.
Timmeh is arb eligible after this year and after 2012. He’s probably due at least $18M for 2012 in an arb decision, so regardless of how the Giants play his contract situation, in 2012 the Giants will owe Lincecum, Cain and Zito easily over $50M, just for those three. And, Zito will likely be elsewhere getting hammered, but still getting paid mostly by the Giants. Cain is a FA in 2013, and there’s no guarantee this offseason Lincecum signs beyond 2013 into his first FA years. So, IMO 2012 is the crunch time year for Giants to make a big push to win it all again, especially after printing money this season. This year’s lineup will be totally revamped over the coming offseason. If I were Cain, I’d test the FA waters in 2013; if healthy he should be a top shelf FA and command huge dollars. He should want to go to a team that can actually score, if the Giants don’t show in 2012 some long term progress to remedy that problem…
Cain is the most likel to stay.He has the ring, of course, he’s been treated extremey well by manaagement, the fans love him ( although many bloggers labeled him a stupid loser until last year). Sure, he could test the FA waters, just as amost everyone in his position would. Why did Lee leave Texas ? They sure can score. Maybe it was 120 million?
Actually, Snarkk liked the trade fine. Everyone did. There were concerns about his injury history related to his knees, not to a fucking fluke wrist injury on a check swing. It certainly can’t be put on Sabean, it’s just bad fucking luck. If he does go on the DL, they’ll just have to win it without him, which they were going to do anyway.
I didn’t like the trade fine. I didn’t want Beltran. But since they got him for just Wheeler, and not any position prospects, I said yes, whatever, he would improve the team. I didn’t like his age at 34, mid 30s guys are always more injury prone. I wanted Bourn. Now Bourn’s helped the Braves to a 6-3 roadie roll. Hopefully, he won’t steal El Presidente blind when the Giants roll into Hotlanta…
“I said yes, whatever, he would improve the team” That’s what I said, you liked the trade fine. However, it must be said that it falls a little short of “This trade is epic in the history of the SF era.”
At any rate, it appears we may get to test what I maintained: they’re winning the division with or without him.

Yesterday:
“I would not get Beltran, I’ve said it before..”
You barely have had time to flip, let alone flop…
snarkk said, on July 28, 2011 at 1:00 pm
I would not have gotten him. I think he’s an injury risk. I would have traded for Bourn, but you liked that idea so much you misspelled his name in sneering at it.
Anyway, now that Beltran is “gotten” and Wheeler was the only part given up, most of you have gotten your wish. It’s a fair trade. Value for potential value.
No flip, no flop. Are the Giants better now? Yes…
Geez, again.Translation: “the trade was fine”..
Anyway, a guy with his pedigree ( far better than Bourn OR Cuddyer ) could still make the huge impact that Flavor and the Doomer predcted. In which case, Snarkk “knew it all along”..
Not going to go through the posts, but I didn’t want him either and indicated same on numerous occasions, citing statistics, etc., blah, blah, blah.
Nevertheless, Sabean got him for pitching prospect Zack Wheeler (who will probably amount to a bottle of spit . . . if that). Couple that with the Mets sending $4 million cash to the Giants to cover Beltrán’s remaining $6.5 million contract and NO ONE CAN DENY SABEAN DID WELL. Even if Wheeler amounts to something, that’s not here or now . . . We are talking about taking a flyer on someone who could increase our chances of grabbing the brass ring. I’ll do that everyday and twice on Sunday.
One last thing . . . The season isn’t over. The playoffs haven’t started. In effect, Beltran COULD FUCK UP EVERY GAME until game 162 that puts us in the playoffs; or the clincher in a playoff or world series game, and then get a fucking dribbler grounder hit that wins the game and ALL OF US WILL BE SINGING HIS PRAISES, AS WELL AS SABEAN’S!
Several people had other preferences-the Snarkkmeister had Bourne, I preferred Cuddyer… but there wasn’t any fucking bitching when the deal was done. As the Snarrkle said- he improved the team. Translation: the trade was fine…Now, no one advocated this more than Doomin’ Denny so however it eventually works out- the Doomer is the guy to go to to, either way..
I like Bob Fitzgerald. I went through a radio show call in phase years ago, it was always to Young Bob’s show (before he stole Papa’s Warrior’s gig). I just caught his show today and he’s re-centered me back to a good reality. He listed off the rest of the Giants schedule and we really are playing shit teams, for the most part. I think with or without Beltran (and I think it’s going to be without, I think this dude is shutting the season down early with this injury) we at least still have a good chance to win the division with the starting pitching and bullpen that we have. Remember, the bullpen is the most critical during the last 4-6 weeks of the season. Our bullpen dominates Arizona’s.
So as bummed as I was this morning when I wrote that thread, I’ve come in of the ledge and feel reasonably good about this team’s chances to win the division, with our without Beltran……
There ya go!! And don’t forget- if Carlos does make a big diff, you still have some major ” I told you so”..
Almost as much as I’ll have when Alex leads the Niners to the Super Bowl this year 😉
I am breaking my own rule about talking about…..well, I’ll just talk about the Niners instead. Globally speaking, that doesn’t break my rule of not discussing *him* here. I hope everyone tempers their enthusiasm about how the Niners are going to do this season. I have ultimate confidence in Harbaugh and am nearly certain that he is going to turn *his* QB career around. Having said that, this team has practiced together for like 4 days. There’s a new system on both sides of the ball. That idiot Krueger guy on KNBR who says we will know all there is to know about the 2011 Niners based off how they do in Game 1 vs Seattle couldn’t be further from reality. It’s going to take some time for J-Harb to install his system and undo the dysfunction that Sing created. I still think they’ll have a decent year. 8-8 is a reasonable expectation, maybe 9-7. But be ready for some growing pains.
Well, I dd put a smiley face on it.. I just wanna see what it’s like to regret something until the day I die.
I had thought the #6 plate at the Happy Garden was close enough..
I hope Beltran contributes. f he does, great, they need every friggin hit he can provide. If he doesn’t, well, Sabes had a swinging strike. Of the 3 he got, Keppinger is most likely to hang around for next year. He’s fairly slow, not the best of range, but he’s capable and a real pro at the plate. Cabrera won’t be back. I’m not as negative as BF on Beltran’s attitude or ultimate desire, but I don’t expect him back. As far as I’m concerned, Boras as agent means Beltran already has 3 strikes against coming back. Plus, I’m not giving a 34 year old with bad wheels in a cold ball park more than a 2 year deal, and he’ll want way more than that, which some team certainly WILL do…
I have added some links to the widget page to the right. Let me know if there’s an additional one that that you guys think the blog would appreciate.
How about a link to that great rack you spent the day with yesterday?
Giants need a link to SHA — Shitty Hitters Anonymous.
Give ’em the address of the Miami outpost just off Biscayne Blvd.
Not far from the former black ops office of E. Howard Hunt…
it was great, the day and the rack. And no, she doesn’t read the blog or even know about it–could care less about baseball and sports in general. I didn’t have any pics taken or I would post them. They make you leave everything in a locker and then you have to put on a wetsuit to go swim with these animals, er, mammals. Too bad, a pic of Big Flavor in a skin tight wet suit is really something that all of humanity would appreciate. Anyway, it was exactly as I was told it would be–hold on to them by their dorsal fin and they fuckin’ ride your ass all over this huge tank. The only unknown to me was that we were basically part of the show. After you get in your wetsuit they parade you (12 of us) through the entire goddamn amusement park and into this huge tank with about 200 or so onlookers. They were their just looking at the dolphins swim and jump around and shit but they all started taking pictures of us as we were ridden around the tank. Anyway, excellent day and night. Thought I was going to miss the game but we went out to a sushi place near her house and they had the game on the big screen!
over the years I’ve perfected the art of watching a game on behind who I’m talking to while still pretending to listen to our conversation. It’s harder than you think to pull that off successfully……..
I see zero way he’s back or that they’ll even want him back, however well he does. Snarkk is right on the reasons- plus 100 + PA is enough to show he won’t hit HRs here. Ought to be a lively camp next year with OF spots wide open.
The Arizona Diamondbacks are in 1st place on August 11. Who could have predicted that?
BTW, Tiger Woods needs to find a new hobby. He fucking smokes Bengal, Siberian and South China Tiger pole all-in-one.
How many days since Memorial Day? 70 or so? Birthin’ Denny is 1 for 70.
Flav, that was mighty NO Whitey of you to make me the POTG. You didn’t have to go out of your way.
Where do I send the check and Earl Grey teabags?
Since they mean the same thing, I’m mighty proud of you to come out like this . . .
Tea Bagger’s new bitch: Newsweek made Michelle look like a crazed wacko.. well, those ain’t Bette Davis eyes, dearie.

She looks like she can hit — somebody.
If she were to be elected Prez, I’m looking for a new country…
Democrats dream GOP ticket:

she does a pretty good job of that all by herself.
From a columnist for the Newark (NJ) Star-Ledger: “As for why that photo shows Bachmann with ‘crazy eyes,’ though, it’s not Newsweek’s fault. She’s crazy and those are her eyes.”
I think Flavor could book his bet on Beltran to the DL without the probably or whatever it was, With Bochy already taking about it, looks bad.
I’m not bitching and moaning about Beltran OR Sabean. I said all along we needed OUTSIDE help and Sabes did his best. This wrist injury wasn’t a pre-existing condition like MDR’s, I don’t believe. Shit happens! I’m still 100% in favor of the move. If Beltran needs time on the DL so be it. Remember, he was acquired for the postseason. If we can’t beat the Snakes w/o him for 2 wks, then I’ll be asking for pink slips.
Wake me when it’s Game 1 of the NLDS.
But so help me Christ. NO Whitey best not be behind the dish. Michael Bourn will run hog wild on that fool…
“Wake me when it’s Game 1 of the NLDS.” Snakes vs. Braves is Doomin’ Denny’s call.
Hey BF, thanks for the links. A few more useful baseball sites:
Cot’s baseball contracts: I recently found out that Vogelsong is eligible for arbitration after this year, rather than free agency ; which means one more year of team control (I would guess for between 2-4 million)
Fangraphs: mostly for UZR and WAR
Baseball Reference: mostly for minor league stats
I think a fair amount of flappers already frequent these sites
Actually now I see your first “stats” website is baseball reference
Fangraphs is not very popular here, UZR in particular is not trusted and Torres’ value is disputed. It’s a great site though.
I’ll definitely add cott-s good call. I’m on my ph now so I don’t know if I have it up there but MLB trade-rumors and the CBS sports website is a good one
Forget Palin, Bachmann likely wins out. The wild-eyed witch from the north. She’ll put Ru Paul on the ticket. Uh, Ron Paul.
Romney and the old guard is out in the GOP. Teabaggers or bust.
Hee haw . . .
Chuckles, any Tea Bagger guarantees Obama wins. Bachmann has as much chance as Willow Palin..
Well duh, Mike. The GOP is mired in their own sticky mess. They can’t come to terms within their party, let alone provide a united fron come election time.
Once the focus goes to who gets nominated, they lose track, and will ultimately fail.
As it is, their entire agenda is to thwart anything Obama does. Regardless of the fact that the fiallout would bring down the global economy.
The “Duh”, Chuckles, is that no tea bagger is winning the nomination. It will be an “old guard” guy like Romney. The old guard would dump Bachmann( or any Tea Bagger ) in the East River before she’d get the nomination..
Deep thoughts Chuck!
Wide eyed Bachmann, secessionist Perry, “I made a profit by buying companies and then laying off the employees” Romney, “No Muslims in my administration” Cain, Bus Tour Palin, Mealy mouth Pawlenty, misogynist Santorum, and “I shop at Tiffanys” Gingrinch all have as much chance as Willow Palin, much less Trig Palin.
If Ron Paul was photogenic and didn’t have a squeeky voice, he might have a chance . . . at least he attempts to tell the truth (as he sees it). The rest are carpetbaggers in the worst sense of the word.
The only thing holding Rick Perry back from running, is the fact that he knows his homesexual trysts in the state capital will come to light….Will be interesting to see if he makes that call.
I heard Larry Craig was going to be his running mate.
Wilcojoe . . . I never heard about this, i.e., he is gay?
Bingo, blade. I look at Ron Paul as I did John Anderson back in the day.
The guy made too much fucking sense to get anywhere close to being elected.
lqtm . . . true.
Lets nominate Chuck to something……he’ll tell it like it is! BLEEP!
My wife’s good friend from law school is an attorney with the Texas Land Commissioners office…We heard the stories well before the rumors came to light in the local press several years back…IF he run’s, the shit that will come out (no pun intended) will make Craig’s stories look like childsplay…Probably nothing big would surface until or if he wins the primary.
Gag me with a “light bulb,” Bachmann is touting her leadership in being the “tip of the spear” fighting to repeal “light bulb socialism.” HAHAHAHAHAHA . . . What a dimwit (no pun intended).
This Fox News Republican Debate is good comedy.
Fuck you y’all, I’m voting for Reagan.
AGAIN!!!
I’ve never understood why anyone who wasn’t filthy rich would ever vote republican. Hey, if you’ve got the dough and don’t sweat the social/environmental issues, I can see it. But anyone who is poor/out of work/etc has to be able to see that the republicans aren’t looking out for them they’re looking out for rich people. I’ve never understood why all those poor people in the south never got that clue…
Me neither Flav . . . Let’s ask po’ Del mar why that is?
“Let’s ask po’ Del mar why that is?”
Reality and belief sometimes don’t always mesh. 1984? C’est si bon
Nowadays? I’d rather see what the Duchess of Cambridge was wearing.
They hate liberals and Democrats!
The Republican strategy has always been to convince us proles that those “beneath” us are lazy scumbags who want what we have and will do anything except work to get it…
I actually worked in politics for a time back in the day. Democracy goes to those who show up and voter participation is a goddamn shame in this country. Nut job republicans reliably showy to the polls every election Democrats pontificate and get pissed but only show up in the presidential years. Me? I just pencil myself in for king regardless of the slate.
4-0 Astros, 5th inning.
Not that we need any help…
Well, some of you do…oh, scratch that. It would just make Del 0 for 70.
Bingo again, Flav. Bush I was rhetoric for the masses and kneeling to big biz.
Bush II was fuck the poor, I’m all in for the Halliburton gang.
It’s always immigration, gay marriage, anarchy, and taxes when election time rolls around. Two months later, it’s let’s get rid of the death tax, add entitlements, and cut taxes on the wealthy.
I mean, shit, Reagan raised taxes 17 times. At least he saw that the arms race cost money that could only be gotten by raising taxes. We’ve been in 2 wars for 8+ years, and taxes have been low the whole time. Shit don;t add up.
Chuck, it’s like that joke I told here last year that I saw on the Rachel Maddow show . . .
Three people are sitting at a table with a dozen donuts in the middle of the table. One is a CEO, another is a Union Worker, and another is a Tea Party member. The CEO takes 11 donuts and looks at the tea party guy and says, “Hey, you better take that donut before the Union guy takes it.
Uhh huh.
Hey, we didn’t lose a game tonight—you gotta love that.
@Willied-Just saw your post about Aaron Gordon—good stuff. Their dad Eddie, played at SDSU just before I came down here. He was a campus supervisor when I was a student. He and Webster Slaughter would have some epic matchups on the pickup courts around SDSU. The Aztecs went after Drew hard and just missed out on him—maybe a blessing in disguise. I think Eddie is a teacher up in the bay area now.
I’ve been out of town and not able to follow the games closely—another blessing methinks. Just saw the highlight of Stewart homering. There is something bad-ass about the fact that we are a glamor franchise and the defending champs, yet we’ve got Stewart or Whitey behind the plate every day—2 guys who could be cut and never heard from again on almost a day to day basis. It’s awesome when you see how fired up the team gets when one of them makes a big play. I don’t follow the AL at all, but it is hard for me to picture the Yankees or Red Sox ever having that same dynamic going on.
Post of the motherfucking day. Now take your shirt off and let’s have a swim with my dad and his big red trunks. Ha!
And, again and again. most people don’t see what’s happening.
If you ain’t making over $250,000, there’s no reason to vote republican. The right has always used the liberal elite/hiollywood fag/immigration/anarchy-would-reign-if-a-dem-gets-in strategy.
Meanwhile, socail security/medicare dries up while the rich gets taxed less and less. Teachers lose their right to bargain so the Congressmen can up their pay.
Just got home from visiting friends only ten miles up the roads to find out that the blog has gone political, like partisan politrix where it’s always Jesus Christ vs. Godzilla, all depending on whether you are strongly support Tweedledee or Tweedlededumber. As for the Tweedlededumbers, my ticket would be WilcoJoe’s tagging of Hairjob Perry as having a pink-tinged fringe to his born-again fun’s-dirty-mentalism and my homestate’s shame Bachmann whose hubby is rumored hereabouts to be a bit light footed while running a joint in Lake Elmo which has been said to take government money in its mission to ‘cure’ gays.
A Perry-Bachmann ticket would make the entire Religious Wrong element simply tingle with anticipatory delight while giving a wink and nod to the Barry Diller Log-Cabin Republican types. This would be the ne-plus-ultra in the total hypocrisy in Amerikkkan partisan politrix where big $ and a totally corrupted gang of five dressed in black drag own the best prostiticians money can buy.
World Class, baby. World Class!
Perry- Bachmann might get 25% of the vote. This will be someting along the lines of Romney/Pawlenty and barring a significant change in how things are going, a ticket like that would make a close contest. But I think when it gets down to it, the Health Care issue will actually win it for Obama- enough of it has been put in place that even those who were gainst it aren’t going to want to give up what they got.
Obama is similar to the 2011 Giants. The biggest reason he’ll win is the lousy competition.
Default winner. Likely enough. Some will say the lesser of two evils. Others will opine its the evil of two lessers. If this was still a real country and without electronic voting (example: The electronically elected Senator from Tel Aviv who lost in the Democrat primary but got elected as an independent to “represent” the voters of Connecticut) we would have a Congress which actually represents their constituents rather than the bankster controlled corporations and a President similar to JFK who had this nasty habit of stepping on some rather large toes.
My Dream Team would be a coalition campaign mounted by Dennis Kucinich, Ron Paul, Cynthia McKinney, Ralph Nader and Jesse Ventura. Of course, as all five of them are suspected of telling the truth most of the time, they would come under immediate and heavy attack by the MainScream media and would get absolutely no campaign contributions from those whose bucks come from big bangs in Iraq, Afghanistan and other centers of huge profits, for the controlling owners of the WarDefense industry.
Tea. Earl Grey. Hot. Pour boiling water over tea bag in a cup and steep for 1 to 2 minutes.
Capt. Picard and I thank you.
Goldschmidt 2-run, 2-out HR ties it in the 9th.
That fucking Goldschmidt may push them over the top by himself.
Where the fuck did he come from?
Ok 8th round of the 2009 draft . . . by the Dogs no less
outside of the one bomb against us, he’s hitting .200. Haven’t checked the scores tonight. Did he hit another?
Goldshitter just hit a 2 run HR in the bottom of the 9th 2 outs, to tie the score . . .
AZ has 2 on, none out in the obttom of the 10th . . .
Dennis, dont take any shit for who you vote for. I respect you and your vote. Just don’t forget that no matter who you vote for your single life stays the same. And while the big problems are never solved it feels good to vote for someone who cares about the individuals that make up the masses. If you’re part of the *masses* it’s inconceivable to me that you would vote for someone that could give a shit about you.
Anyone who votes for a Tea Bagger deserves all the shit they get- they’re voting for people who, given their way, would revoke all the liberties that a liberal society enjoys.
I like Earl Grey, Assam Golden Tip and Russian Caravan.
Assams and Darjeelings are high on my list, Earl Grey and Jasmine are mood specific okay. Top of the list for me is a good Keemun. With certain foods nothing tops Lapsang Souchong.
Hey, Flav. President Reagan will always have my vote. What I want you and all Flappers to know is — the Giants will ALWAYS have my vote. Guess who also has my NON vote. Dirrrty. Barry Zito will rise from the dead…
Chum Bucket is gonna help down the stretch/playoffs. Heard it here first
Young 3-run HR in 10th, Snakes win 8-5.
On another baseball note, i do like the pitching matchup vs Florida. If SF does not take two of three down there the starters should sue the position players for lack of support. Another factor that could favor the Giants is the Posey/Cousins matter. Wondering if there is anyone on the team, maybe Ross or Huff who could fire up the gang into a flint-eyed frenzy of ash on horsehide. Maybe Bochy should rent the movie Patton as played by George C. Scott to get some insight into how to fire up the troops. Maybe a little Knute Rockne channeling would help as well. What i don’t like as a Norwegian-American is how that bunch of Irishmen at Notre Dame butchered the pronunciation of his name to sound like the frontname of Gingrich. All good Norskies clearly enunciate the “K”. Latterday Englishmen also had problems with the “K” in front of the “N”, where they spelled the name of their one Danish king “Canute”.
Of course “Notre Dame” gets butchered in American too, not sounding at all like the identically spelled words the French call the Cathedral of Our Lady on Isle de la Cite in the Seine right in the middle of Paris. French words and terms really get butchercated in this country. Take the capitol city of Iowa which gets pronounced by Iowanians as “Dee Moyne”. If you know even a bit of Francais that kinda grates on the ears. So in tall corn country i mispronounce it my own was as “Dess Mo Weenies”. Drives em nuts. If they ask, I explain.
And just to set the record straight, I think he stinks on ice as you do….
But, I can’t believe I’m say’in …
Stinks on ice stinks on ice…

Off days at flap central are always a trip. Social conservatives, ugh. fiscal policy? OK. The other stuff is BS..if you don’t like someone, fine. But they have a right to exist, and of course there’s that pesky bill of rights stuff. Reading a series about Italian police detective Aurelio Zen. He questions an American whose dad goes missing in Calabria, who it turns out was born there, a fact he had hidden from his family. The son says dad was “100 % American.” Detective replies, “He was a red Indian?”
Love Stix take on “prosticians”..reminds me of Dick Gregory line on Chicago, “Best police force money can buy. Some judges too.”
Back to baseball. Since SF does hit so much better on the road, let’s see what happens on this trip. Again, as pointed out earlier, not a lot of over .500 games for next few weeks. Pitching needs to shut these teams down, give the O a chance to make something happen. DBacks pitching hasn’t been very good lately, and got lit pretty good at home. Ours is better top to bottom, should make the big difference in long run.
