A Place To Talk About Giants Baseball

Tough Game

Posted in Uncategorized by Flavor on August 16, 2011

Weird, last night’s epic fail is bothering me more this morning than it did last night. It’s usually the reverse. All I’ve got in me is a “knowing *dude* nod”. But it’s not vertical, it’s horizontal. You want a few heaping servings of bad luck? Not only does our best hitter foul a ball off his foot but he hits a grounder to third that he has to run out as hard as he can! I’m sure the foot felt great after that…..

And now, with great irony, we turn to Dirrrrty to right this wayward ship. Only because I feel certain that he will fail today do I have hope that he will pitch masterfully. It’s upside-down day. And faced with nothing but more injuries, players healing slowly and wins being  ripped away from us, there’s nothing else that can possibly happen except the impossible. I need my knowing dude nod to get vertical again…….

CHuck— that’s a decent idea. We really don’t need a long reliever that often. Hell, Runzy could do it if necessary. Or they could go 4 man rotation the rest of the way and pull the starters after 6 or 7…….

Shit, Flav, I went to Bag’s blog. What a bunch of clowns and weenies.

One guy’s concerned about Kuiper miscalling who is fielding balls. Thinks Kuip drinks too much.

I mean beyond the fact that the entire IF is different.

Every now and then there is some funny shit posted on Baggs’ blog. Before Ross started hitting a few balls hard, someone over there posted that he has spent most of the year “wandering in the wilderness and occasionally throwing his bat in the stands.”
That one still makes me laugh.

      • big flavor's avatar big flavor said, on August 16, 2011 at 6:08 pm

i woulda gone Bum over Rowand, who is hurt apparently. You couldn’t tell after he hit the exact same bouncer to the left side that he always does……

  24. big flavor's avatar big flavor said, on August 16, 2011 at 6:07 pm

  25. Del Mar Dennis's avatar Del Mar Dennis said, on August 16, 2011 at 6:12 pm

  26. unca chuck's avatar unca chuck said, on August 16, 2011 at 6:13 pm

  29. big flavor's avatar big flavor said, on August 16, 2011 at 6:18 pm

I’m still not sure why the Braves pull a guy at 70 pitches in a tie game KNOWING they will then use their 2 best relievers in the 8th/9th. Seems to me they gave away an advantage they could have held. The other guys are ok but they aren’t in the same class as Venters and Kimbrel…….

  30. big flavor's avatar big flavor said, on August 16, 2011 at 6:21 pm

so now what do they do? Win it in the 9th? I just don’t see the point in pulling a guy in the 7th who was at 74 pitches and had given up 1 hit. Maybe they pitch Kimbrel into the 10th but I doubt it, they woulda been more likely to let Venters go 2….

WTF? Is he a pussy or something? Give up one hit and whisk him off to the showers? Fuckin’ who cares if he gets the loss? He can’t get the win if they take him out when they did, I’d think he would care more about the opportunity to get the win then the fear of getting a loss…….
