Ready to Steamroll the Astros

My friend Luke hates it when I predict a win on the blog. Says I’m always wrong. Says it’s a jinx. Ok Team Lukie, I won’t predict a single win. But I will predict a 4 game sweep of the Astros. At a minimum I guarantee 3 of 4 but I think a sweep is likely….

Question for you: Would you trade Dirrrrrty Sanchez for Heath Bell? You get Bell for Sept and the playoff run. Since I think Wilson is done for the year I think you almost have to try to make this trade happen. The Padres would do it, I think. Dirrrrty is usually tough on them. No hit tough. They probably over value him because of that game. If you give ’em Dirrrrty you wouldn’t have to give up 2 prospects, something Pads will look for since they get 2 picks for him when he leaves this Winter. I think Dirrrrty has at least one more and maybe 2 years of arbitration left……

Huff’s at bat was really bad, refusing to even take a pitch. Cody is swung right through a hittable fastball and that was before he swung at 2 sliders that were balls. This is just, man, tough.

go look at the HR’s we hit the last 2 months last year. I think we were close to leading the NL after the all star break. And when you compare it to this putrid group, it WAS amazing. We hit lots of bombs last year in Sept Blade, look it up……..

Agree, Craig. Some players (and coaches) comment that this is the same bunch that won it all last year, so they know how to do it again this year… but actually, with those key players gone or injured, and the ones who were here last year who still are here (mostly Huff and Ross) just not getting it done, it’s a very different team on offense/defense. Well, they’ve got about 5 or 6 weeks to “gel”… happened last September, hoping it happens again. Not sure what’s up with Huff, but the team has really needed him to step it up with all the missing pieces, and he just doesn’t “look” like he can. So someone else must… I think someone else “will”…

Flavor was surprised at the vote, and rightfully so. There was very little sentiment here for trading Sanchez for Bell, and plenty against it. The tally is skewed by either multiple votes or lurkers looking to skew it.

A lot of the sentiment for trading anyfuckingbody for Bell is the presumption by the Flap’s crack medical staff that Wilson is done. Might be, but no one here has the slightest clue whether he is or not. Consummating a deal probably means Wilson *is* done, but the pen is deep enough to absorb the loss without making a panic deal.

I’m hoping Torres is ready to go after this weekend as I thought I’ve read. Even if he hits .220 the rest of the way, his ABs never seem pathetic. Play him every day, play Belt every day. Huff gets some days off, Ross gets even more.

And sorry, by Wins Over Replacement, he is STILL second on the team as per FanGraphs, 3rd as per BP( behind Pablo and Grok on BP, just Pablo on FG). Miller noted MANY times how he created runs by himself, and no one else does that.And even though Ross and Rowand are competent CFers, they don’t begin to approach Andres’ brilliance. Votes are usually anonymous. But I’ll tell mine. I voted YEA for trading JSanchez for Bell. Why?
Bell’s a good closer and Wilson’s probably out this year. And the Giants need a good closer for the playoffs. Romo, my 2011 favorite, may be able to pull it off but to get insurance, why not?
twin and chuck have pulled out a ton of stats defending their opinions. And on one point, twin is absolutely fucking right. JSanchez is NOT a fucking head case. What he is is frustrated by knowing he’s got the stuff and every little tiny fucking minor bad tweak seems to fuck him. But bottom line? With me?
Simple. He’s got talents but he’s a bad pitcher. He’s just overall… a bad pitcher. Come back that he had a no hitter once? That’s like saying Stewart’s first home run was a grand salami. Lovely. What have you done for me lately? Last year, JSanchez had a lot of great games and he was a true reason the Giants got to the World Series. But he’s inconsistent and untrustworthy. To do well in the playoffs…I’d trade him in a second. Only now..who’d take him? Injured. Inconsistent.
The Giants will still take the West. But Lincecum and Cain are the only stud starters. Vogelsong’s a weird anomoly. God I hope he knows this is it. The pen, however, is the best in the fucking planet. I love every one of them and without them, we wouldn’t even be in this thing. And when the Giants *do* take the West, if Bochy doesn’t get
another manager of the year award…there is no God.

Last year they were 13th in pitching this month, 8th in runs scored (NL). They were 6.5 behind on this date. There was no talk of magic, the same perps bitched endlessly, as now.
Obviously they’ll need the pitching to hold, and they’ll need something from Beltran, a big month from Belt, and a spark from Torres.That will be enough added to MVP Sandoval’s usual production.

We’re DEAD GODDAMN LAST in runs scored. Something like 42 runs less than the 15th placed team, the Dodgers. I’ve tried searching for the answer but have been unsuccessful. Has a team that finished last in runs scored ever won its division? I dunno. But I can tell ya this, they didn’t deserve it, and neither will we.

Our offense is historically bad and embarrassing. We don’t deserve to win.

I think I read that at their current pace, should they win the pennant, they would have the fewest runs scored by any pennant winner ever. I’d say that makes it worth rooting for.
Sort of like the solo HR record. ..now every failure by Huff, every start for Rowand, every AB for Whitey— moves us closer to the record..and the last shall be first , and the first last..

We won’t win. Lets face it. The hitters that we have are not going to magically hit in the last month. We have lost 3/4 to lowly astros, and zero runs in 10 lincecum and 9 cain starts. That will not change.
