Now THAT was a Frustrating Loss
I like a pitcher’s duel as much as the next guy but Giants games are now teetering on the cusp of *boring*. I can enjoy a pitchers duel because of who is pitching. Kershaw vs Lincecum. 1-0? I’m down, I’ll watch that and be riveted because they are 2 guys at the top of their profession dominating no matter who the line up is. Henry Sosa? He threw a ball straight down the middle with no movement on it whatsoever and Ross made 2 outs swinging straight through it. Huff absolutely mailed in his at bats last night. That’s not riveting, that’s flat-out boring……
Krukow said something mid game about how spirited the Astros were playing and that they came to play. Christ, they came in here on a 4 game losing streak and they have the worst record in baseball! That’s not spirited that’s showing more spirit than the team they are playing. Last night, that wasn’t saying much.
Baggs is on his blog calling for some “The time is now” moment. That’s just hogwash. Bochy has tried every different LU he has available to him. And Brett Freaking Pill is not the answer……
These guys are World Champions. Well, the 2010 guys were. I don’t know who these guys are. They have EVERYTHING in their favor right now. Home schedule, playing bad teams, some injured guys have come back. And this is what they are doing? It’s inconceivable to me that a collection of major league hitters with a track record of success at this level could score so few runs game in and game out.
With September approaching I’m resigned to the fact that this is what these guys are going to produce this year. I still think it will be enough to win the division. But we should be destroying teams like the Astros. And yet, we are all-fucking-OUT to beat them even a 1/4 of the time.
At this point, it’s time to get Torres in there and just hope for the best. The “Rowand against a lefty” or “sitting Huff for a few games”—I just don’t see the point. In fact, it’s entirely likely that Torres continues his poor year when he comes back. There is just something about him though that feels slightly different than the other two moves. I don’t know what else Bochy can do. If Brett Pill hits the line up, we are absolutely waving the white flag…….
Flav, a freudian slip or hidden message? In effect, did you mean to imply that you are not going to wave “NO STINKING WHITE FLAG” as indicated by using “waiving;” or, was it a typo, and you meant to write, “waving?”
Waiving Definition: Intentional relinquishment of a right, claim, or privilege.
Waving Definition: Convey (a greeting or other message) by moving one’s hand or something held in it to and fro.
Regardless, one of your best posts lately . . .
It is odd that the team chemistry just does not seem to be there this year. We have 3 starters, add in whoever is catching not named Whitesaide, and then Belt, then 4-5 hitters have been playing for only a couple opf weeks together as a whole.
Last year, but Posey was officially brought up and Burrell was added, they just all clicked. Uribe was also a large clubhouse presence that helped feed the team chemistry. At least I have been catching up on a lot of sleep with these awfully “boring” games….I was dead asleep for the comeback in the 8th on the Padres….
Have to say BF you nailed it, BORING. the offense peaks it’s head out every so often to tease us fans. Consistency is not there MO.
would that they “peaked” every now and then. alas, they just peek.
Henry mentions Pill too, to be fair. you gotta feel for bochy, who tried a bunch of small ball stuff last night that didn’t work out. He had Kepp bunt over Cabrera (who was on twice as leadoff) in the first and Beltran and pablo couldn’t get him in, bunt and run play with Vogs up, belt trying to steal second. Lead off walks, nothing happened. Beltran with a nice whack to open the 9th, Pablo took a hack at a low/inside pitch and wound up with a GIDP. Meanwhile, Astros steal 4, get a SF and clutch hit for rbis, and a solo shot by Schaefer, the guy the Braves were fed up with, his second of the year and 9th rbi of the season.
James with a nice zinger at end of last thread. Happ on the mound tonight, just off the DL/rehab starts, collmenter goes for bax vs. those pesky pads. Nice thing about a crummy game is the opp to make up for it the next day.
Anyone think Beane bales on the A’s for Cubs job/whomever leaves another team to take cubs job?
Krukow was flat out brutal and dead on this morning. I have never heard him like that.
You’re right. Kruk Kame Klean this morning. “No energy”, “no chemistry”, time to stop mixing it up, time to “shake it up”, “rattle the cage”. He mentioned losing 17 of 25, he rarely talks record. Called out lack of concentration shown by the poor defense. He was definitely down on Huff, said he needs to sit, almost called for minor leaguers to get up here. He went for the alarm lever, and not only pulled it, he pulled the damn thing off the wall…
And Snarkk became less snarky!
Not very observant, nip. Kruk Kame Klean? When’s the cross burning?
From Henry:
Injuries? Sure. But even a weakened team that spent much of the season in first place should not keep getting schooled by a 42-88 squad full of rookies. Make that 43-88 after the Astros prevailed 3-1 Thursday night for their third victory in four games against the Giants in less than a week.
Sosa was pitching on three days rest, too. That’s embarrassing.
It makes what the Giants pitchers do all the more remarkable because they never get to face the Giants hitters.
What did these suddenly popular pundits have to say last year when they were 6 1/2 out?
A few sensible notes: Krukow last night, and now some here were bashing Sosa. Bullfuckingshit. The guy at one time was rated only below Bumgarner. He had some injury problems, but was coming back. He pitched a good ballgame. He was on 3 days rest because he only because went 5 in his last start, throwing 75 pitches. Pay fucking attention…
Teams like the Astros are always dangerous for contenders this time of year, “land mine” series. It’s been the Astro’s for us it , might be someone else for a different team. But the Soph inspired bullshit that these are easy wins is stupid in light of more than a hundred years telling us differently…
Torres? I covered it last night, and don;’t fucking harass me if you disagree- talk to a couple sites that are just maybe a bit more dependable than Snarkkles: Vundo is valuable even hitiing as poorly as he was. He’s GG caliber in the field, one of the three best in the game, he actually manufactures runs ( no one does that except him) And he’s a huge part of the chemistry that some claim is lacking…
Now, with all that said.. Huff? After coming on welll, he has had poor ABs and poor defense of late. More troubling has been his DISINTERESTED demeanor. If he were to sit, with Grok in the Denver Boot, Belt would obviously move to first, and the OF would be Ross/Torres/Beltran…
Now-Ross? Obviously most of you have teeny weeny memories of his time here last year. He was good in the regular season but certainly not the juggernaut you’ve created in your dreams. He didn’t even fucking get here until August 23, he hit 3 HRs and drove in 7 in 73 AB. Nice, but not the fictional Roy Ross of your fervid imagination- he could still contribute more than that his year, he’s always been a guy who can carry a team.. or drag them down..
Beltran: 6 GIDP in 50+ AB. It’s time for him, more than anyone else, to step it up..
Tettering on the cusp of boring? They’ve been boring since the beat Philly 2 of 3.
It’s like they’ve been mailing it in since then.
This is what, their 11th straight series-opening loss?
I’m going to do a vote over in “B” on who will be the September MVP. You’ll have to vote using your screen name, don’t worry, I don’t harass people for having unpopular opinions.. and really I can’t hurt you. Really.
I’ll select who the September MVP was at the end of the year( IMO, of course) I’m sure I’ll select a Latin who didn’t deserve it, so vote accordingly…
Giants need to win this game tonight, period. Happ is a flat out train wreck.
If they can’t beat him, well, it’s time to push the panic button with Kruk…
Whatever they do, they’d better figure out that they are running out of time here. Yeah, they have 6 more with AZ, but not taking advantage of beating the Houstons and Chicagos will be their downfall. Everyone knows they are struggling, but they are their own worst enemy. They are waiting for someone else to pick them up after they flail. When Keppie couldn’t get teh ball out of his glove on the opening batter, I figured there was a 75% chance he would score. Sure enough, he did. The Giants get 4-5 leadoff guys on, and they wither and rot out there.
Every pitcher seems to understand that the Giants watch the strikes and swing at the balls. Huff, every time, watched a strike one fastball his ABs, then swung at shit around his feet. It’s like these guys are SO desperate to put the ball in play that they don;t bother trying to wait for a pitch to hit. It’s swing at everything, except for the good pitches. It happened all night last night. and in recent memory.
actually, as I recall it, after Panda walked Huff swung at the very first pitch and made out,….
OK, turn around time. Four day bank holiday (end of summer) holiday. So I will be watching and yelling for my team.
You guys get 4 day bank holiday’s????
only if we are nice
“When Keppie couldnāt get teh ball out of his glove on the opening batter” It was Huff, Chuckles. He’s the taller guy on the right side of the infield.
So who gets kicked off the 40 man for Surkamp? De Rosa? Likely. Rowand? Long shot, but you never know……
They can just move Zito to the 60-Day DL, makes the most sense. With rosters expanding in a few days, don’t know why they’d jettison an active player.
Or Dirty to the 60-Day, depending n the prognosis. Even Wilson.
well, Kruk is talking about this big shake up like he’s in on this or something. Who knows, maybe he does know something. To me, a big shake up is jettisoning a vet. Otherwise, it would just be mix and match like what Bochy usually does…..
I don’t give a shit if they release DeRosa or Rowand, I just don’t think they will. I didn’t hear Krukow so I can’t give my opinion on what he said. Sitting Huff and maybe a Brown surprise call up is abut the most I can envision as a “shake up”. Barring a waiver wire deal or two, they don’t have many pieces to attain a shake up. BTW- huge surprise- Bell is still a Padre.
Verducci on SI.com today” “It’s tough enough being a San Francisco pitcher given the poor run support… the Giants field the least athletic defensive team in baseball, including Carlos Beltran, a shadow of himself in rightfield.”….
You *do* take great delight in searching out those morsels of negativity.
I didn’t notice it but Krukow said that Sosa was just heaving back and throwing his fastball. He wasn’t mixing speeds or anything. Our guys were just flat swinging through them (or popping them up). Something has happened to the chemistry of this team since Beltran arrived. I don’t get the sense that they’re trying to hard. It almost feels like many of them have decided this isn’t there year and the passion they brought to the game last year is gone. Their focus is gone. The horrendous defense they’ve been playing all year suggests a lack of concentration. Again, I am just repeating what Krukow said earlier today but I think he’s correct….
Mostly fastballs. 21 sliders, 4 change ups, 53 fastballs. That’s just informational, OK?
it looked to me like he threw several hittable pitches up there that didn’t have a ton of movement. They had velocity, but every major leaguer can hit a fast ball…..Except, apparently, ours last night.
I’m not aware of any argument that they’re hitting well. One thing Sosa did do, he was almost exclusively fastball early, he added more sliders and the very few change ups over the last three innings. 13 sliders, all 4 change ups in last three. My only point is that the kid did make adjustments as the game wore on. Absolutely they swung through some hittable fast balls. then when they looked for that, he mixed in more sliders. From what you report, it seems that Kruk made it seem as if it was all fastballs, all the way. He’s fucking wrong( as per MLB.COM)
Another flat disinterested performance tonight, and you’ll start hearing it from the fans. Early and often.
Huff should NOT be in the lineup tonight. Neither should Whitehead. Torres hopefully provides some spark to a very sparkless team.
It’s like these guys can’t wait for the call-ups to arrive so they can get some bench time.
“. . . Some bench time.”
Maybe what they need is “some beach time.” However, I can’t believe they are disinterested, uninterested, not trying too hard, have no passion, decided this isn’t their year, given up, and/or decided not to be competitive anymore.
Questions to each of you:
1. When was the last time you didn’t at least try?
2. Have you EVER let anyone win, just to be nice?
3. You’re all baseball fans, i.e., have you ever given up in a sandlot, High School, little league, or softball league game you were involved in?
4. Are you a go-getter at work?
5. Have you been promoted at work?
6. Deep inside, do you hate losing at monopoly, even if your daughter, son, and/or wife is playing against you?
I’ve seen each one of you get upset, angry, or frustrated at least once, twice or many times, when the Giants lose a game. What does that tell me? THAT YOU ARE ALL WINNERS AND DON’T GIVE UP. ASK YOURSELF THIS QUESTION – DO YOU THINK THE GIANTS ARE ANY DIFFERENT? UHH HUH, I THOUGHT SO . . .
I think players that appear to have quit are most likely just extremely disappointed in themselves. I don’t imagine the resultant body language is all that much different between the two..
I agree Mike . . . Obviously, I have never played professional ball, but I have played competitive sports and I have NEVER quit in baseball or any other endeavor I’ve attempted. Disappointed, yeah. Frustrated, yeah . . . but, I have never thrown in the towel. The people I grew up with were the same way . . . I think – as you pointed out – some of the Giants players body language is being misinterpreted, but I can’t imagine any player giving up . . . they aren’t wired that way.
Huge lesson learned by Sabean this year: Don’t go into a year without a competent back up catcher. Whitey and Stewart have absolutely killed them at the plate all season. They are as close to an automatic out as it gets. And they clearly aren’t easy to pick up mid season….
Ramon Hernandez was put on waivers and then pulled back. He ain’t coming here or anywhere else
I’m not saying they are giving up, just that there’s little to no fire out there. Call it pressing, sucking, waiting, dog-day blues, whatever. They are boring, and have been for weeks now. They’ve played 5 good games in the span of 4 weeks. At least that’s what it feels like.
It’s like when they beat Philly 2 of 3 in their house, they though, hell yeah, we are awesome. We can coast to the playoffs. Well, they are staggering out of the race and down to .500 in a fucking hurry here.
As far as catcher goes, there wasn’t a hell of a lot out there, but really, just about anyone would have been better. Paulino, Torrealba, The Cincy guy (Hernandez?) . . .
They need the fire of a Chuck “BLEEP” after reading a Twin posting.
Has anyone noticed?
Twin is in
Huh? I’ll be out if that’s better for you, Ed.
Teams playing poorly always look like they “lack fire”. Did you see the dugout after Cabrera drove in the run with the ground ball? It was like he just tied Game 7 of the World Series.
Surkamp is in route to SF. Good luck tomorrow in your ML debut.
Last game of the ‘Stros is an ideal opportunity for him.
Schulman: “RT @SFGiantsFans: #SFGiants Rumors: Flying Squirrels Beat reporter John O’Conner has confirmed that pitcher Eric Surkamp has left the team and flown to SF.”
I believe it will be tomorrow, Tim on Sunday.
Ah yeah, got my “last games” mixed up. My bad. For now, “probables” has Cain penciled for Sunday. I imagine a lot of news is gonna change in the next 48 hrs. Maybe our hitting, too!
I still think of Tim as the one, so I was wrong, too.
I’ll just amble over to “B, Ed. Need to bring in more bunks, do some “garden” clean up, etc. There’s always a huge dunderhead crop around the first of October..
October is the worse month for baseball
unless you are a TV franchise
or a winner, like us
Maybe this is grabbing straws, but Arizona is hitting .221 in August, and the Giants own a .233 average over the past two months. The Rockies hit the road for nine games, where they have scored just 220 runs (3.49 per game), worst in the big leagues.
Dbacks have 19 home vs. 12 road games for last 31 to play, starting tonight in Phoenix, ending with 9 straight at home. Giants are 18 home vs. 13 road starting tonight at ATT, ending season with 10 of 13 on the road, with last 3 at ATT vs. Rocks. Giants need to get it done on this long homestand…
Wow a lot of wild talk out here. Until the Giants are eliminated from the playoffs I will stand behind them. Still plenty of games left.
and
Go Gigantes!
Needless to say, Chuck misunderstood the September MVP vote-as stated there, the pictured players are just possible selections. Any position player may be selected…
Additional note for Snarkk: I don’t do “make up” posts, I may occasionally do explanatory posts for idiots who didn’t get it the first time.
I would have voted for Belt anyway, asshole.
fuck you
the magic is back
What’s your problem?
Fuck you, anyway.
it’s less than 4 hrs until game time and no lineup. bochy still at the magic dart board?
According to an insider who’s been walking back and forth outside Bochy’s office, he’s staring at a piece of paper and keeps muttering “Fuck, I don’t know”
I thought that was Sabes’ line…
No, it was mine on the Sept MVP vote.
No Panda, no Huff. Miggy and DeRosa.
Nice call
Well, I saw the LU, it wasn’t the toughest call of my stellar career.
(grin)
Cabrera SS, Keppinger 2B, Beltran RF, Ross CF, Belt LF, Tejada 3B, DeRosa 1B, Stewart C, Bumgarner P
The amount of injuries has been just insane, plus some other guys having off-seasons. There is only one player from last year’s playoffs starting tonight. No other playoff team from last year has anything close to that to deal with.
Position players, I meant.
Shocking that Belt is starting ahead of those sluggers Tejada and DeRosa. What’s the hit count tonite for the 3 at the bottom of the order, against one of the worst starters in MLB? I’ll go crazy and say they get 3 combined for the nite…
Belt and Bumgarner are the only two of those players that are even going to be on the team next season.
Keppinger is arb eligible,I’m sure they’d keep him. He could very well be the SS, or the second baseman if Fruckie doesn’t come around. Or a very good reserve. Don’t see any way he’s not back. IMO.
You think Ross is done?
Ross, Huff, Burrell, Whitey, Stewart, and Font are most likely gone after this season.
Ted: No. But he’ll be a FA and after a pretty good start, this shapes up to be his second straight declining year. If I were shopping, I’d look elsewhere.
Thanks
From the 6/7/8? 3 would be fine against Vera Whiteside.
So, Chuckles, you think they’ll eat Huff’s 11 million?
Yes. Along with Row Row’s $24, and Zito’s $1 billion.
You look up the numbers, zippy.
At some point, they have to cut ther losses with these hacks.
It was just a simple question, Chuicklefuck. So I’ll put you down as them eating all three contracts..
Hey Mike, in all sincerity, take a flying fuck . . .
I think the Chuckenstein is miffed because he confused Keppy with Huffy. Hey, anyone could do that, they’re like, you know: twins..
No, Mike. Keppie plays well enough to stay. You want to hold on to Huffie? Fuck that.
Hey, maybe they can trade him for Darren Ford II next July . . .
As usual, Mike with his anti-white commentary.
I already said Kep stayed. I’m talking about you confusing who fielded the grounder leading off the first last night.
And listen up: what they’ll do is not the same as what I’d do, moron. I never said I’d keep Huff.
“As usual, Mike with his anti-white commentary.” Keppinger and Huff? Who’s the Latino?
“twinfan1 said, on August 26, 2011 at 4:35 pm(Edit)
Keppinger is arb eligible,Iām sure theyād keep him. He could very well be the SS, or the second baseman if Fruckie doesnāt come around. Or a very good reserve. Donāt see any way heās not back. IMO.” We were discussing Keppinger and Huff. So who’s the white guy I was trashing?
Snarkk, you are just a joy to be around. are you really a Giants fan? just wondering.
Even a negative isn’t good enough for the Snarkker:
“They’re 16th in the NL in runs scored”
The Snarkker: “30th in MLB”
Giants fan since ’65. How long have you been?
Don’t confuse valid criticism with some bullshit idea about fan disloyalty.
BTW, I gave the bottom 3 hacks tonight a total of 3 hits, and they got zilch. How’s that for your fuckin optimistic fandom?…
They need a new OF, and they need to leave Belt alone at 1st. Tejada, Ross, Rowand, Huff, Burrell, Font, at the least need to go. Torres is on thin ice. Schierholtz as well. They have too many marginal players. This is like when they tried to throw pieces together around Bonds.
Now they are doing it around the pitching staff.
This stop gap shit isn’t working anymore.
They’re in danger of going one consecutive year without winning the World Series…
Go get ’em, Chuckles.
Cocktail hour in Chucklet’s garage.
It’s asshole hour 24/7 in yer digs . . .
I just checked on Chuckles with the remote Webbinator Cam, he’s passed out..
My view, hardly DISFUCKINGINTERESTED [sheesh, Twin, you could just as easily all capped UNINTERESTED up there] is that it is close to meaningless to talk about sub .500 teams or home games or injuries. The time is now. You play with pride, as winners, or not. You don’t panic, but, ferfecksake you make something happen, show some fire, show some ferocity. And no one has that more than Torres. In fact, he has so much of it it works against him. The time is now. And I oh-so-utterly-regrettably am on the lip of the edge of the veneer of the verge of switching my vote on the NL West. Did I agonizingly wriggle enough on that, qualify it enough? At least I’m honest. Blast away at me, like so much Irene wind on NJ beaches.
Oh, I was kidding, Pawlie. I’m completely UNINTERESTED in Webster Wars.. I will use the words as you direct, I’m putty in your hands…
Could be the highest fecking compliment I’ve ever fecking received in this fecking place — and of course it does not directly involve baseball.
I think that’s a solid point Pawlie. A returning healthy Torres is about the last legit hope we have of someone jumpstarting this O. I’m leaning towards him doing it, I voted for him as the Sept MVP for Twin’s poll. A lot of that is hope but the fact is, he displayed some amazing skills last year–power and speed plus stud defense. Where oh where have you gone, Andres?
…Our fans turn their lonely eyes to you, woo hoo hoo
What’s that you say Mr. Sabean, Andres starting off the DL today, hey hey hey
sign of old age: hotter for Mrs. Robinson than for her daughter….well, actually that was true then. That movie pretty much holds up. PLASTICS!!
“These two marines are on trial for their lives. Please tell me that their lawyer hasn’t pinned their hopes to a phone bill.”
” And my existence, while grotesque and incomprehensible to you, saves lives. You don’t want the truth because deep down in places you don’t talk about at parties, you want me on that wall, you need me on that wall.”
And someday he’ll figure out who ate those strawberries. Wait a minute- that was a different paranoid delusional military commander in a movie.
Remember back in June when we got a gift, beating Cleveland when Sipp balked? I’d like a sip o’ that ol’ Black & Orange MAGIC again. (Ah, pining for the days when it was magic inside, and out.) C’mon, Giants!
If we can’t beat J.A. Happ(less) someone is gonna have to stand up and be responsible. “Who’s gonna do it? You? You, Lt. Weinburg? I have a greater responsibility than you could possibly fathom. “
I expected the “happ(ess)” remark hoiurs ago
The club has looked flat, “disinterested”, playing without fire and passion. Yeah whatever. That can change in an instant. SF still has the arms to keep them in it and are 3 back with a lot of games to play. Send the positive juju, burn the incense, smoke a fatty, kick back relax and have a home brew.
Go Giants!!!
Even without the pennant race, a kid making his Major League debut has always been exciting for me. I’;m especially iinterested to see Surkamp. Those are some pretty awesome K totals for a finesse guy. Here’s pretty good scouting report from MLB Prospect Portal
:”Surkamp’s fastball was topping out around 90 MPH, but he showed great command of his offspeed pitches, mixing them in to keep the Aeros lineup off balance all game. His changeup and curveball both rate as plus pitches but his fastball will be big league average at best, even if he’s able to add an MPH or two as he continues to get stronger.
It’s not often you see a pitcher with a league average fastball who is able to record as many strikeouts as Surkamp, but its a credit to the quality of his secondary pitches and his poise on the mound. It will be interesting to see if he can maintain those rates throughout his career but his definitely has the pitchability to be a successful big league pitcher. His upside is likely as a #2 or #3 starter, who can log plenty of quality innings while giving his team a chance to win each and every night.”
Two words: must win.
Go Giants!
Astros announcer (and one time Giant) Jim Deshaies: “Put that Philly rotation in this ballpark and they might have a buck-fifty ERA.”
I heard that too, WJ. It was about the 5th Giant putdown in 10 minutes from that cocksucker…
Then he has this zinger for Tejada’s AB: “It doesn’t go very far when you hit it on your thumbs.”… Deshaies would fit right in on the Flap.
AZ already up 5-0 in the second.
Gotta hand it to miggy. He stays consistent with the hand clapping at first regardless of the outcome. At least he shows some emotion, unlike Ross and huff
So much for my Room B MVP.
But then again it’s not September yet.
Wow. After walking the 8/9 hitters there are few words to describe how ignorantly stupid Cabrera is for swinging at pitch 1
Cabrera batting leadoff is about as wise as having a monkey program a computer. But what’s the choice? Belt would be better at that position, but then Cabs would be batting sixth or seventh, maybe in another bases jammed situation. This is one of those damned if you damned if you don’t situation. Giants have had plenty of those lately with the injury/roster mess.
I doubt he’ll be there after tonight.
Hey Stix, at least Cabrera went into Bochy’s office and told him he wanted to bat leadoff . . . I like that initiative.
My rule on swinging at the first pitch is the same as swinging 3-0 : better get a hit…
“Astros announcer (and one time Giant) Jim Deshaies: āPut that Philly rotation in this ballpark and they might have a buck-fifty ERA.ā
“I heard that too, WJ. It was about the 5th Giant putdown in 10 minutes from that cocksucker⦔
Wilcojoe and Loo . . . Thank you for letting us know that, i.e., I love it when assholes like Deshaies rile up the Flappers and believe me, I am pissed! KICK THEIR FUCKING ASSES BACK TO HOUSTON!
I’ve caught quite a few of Happ’s starts with Houston this year and he has been fucking horrible…If they can’t score off this guy, they can’t score.
good start with Beltran
I could be watching but choose not to. I have enough wrinkles w/o causing more from BABWS.* I’ll follow here and online.
*Bat At-Bat Watching Syndrome
make that Bad At-Bat Watching Syndrome [sloppy editing from an editor]
dum de dum . . . dammit Ross
that’s 3 rockets in his last 3 ABs for Beltran….ayudale!
oh fuck, another GIDP.
At this point, they should strongly consider giving Hall another shot…The guy can play anywhere…I think he’s played every position but catcher.
When it rains it pours. Will Bochy hit a DP trifecta by the sixth inning on his lineup shuffling tonight? Haplessness against Happ simply should not be happening ~ even as happenstance keeping Doomers happy.
Great play by Stew.
Just an interestng stat: in just more one AB than Ross had last year, Cabrera has driven in more runs 10-7.I just find that surprising, I think Cody’s postseason sort of blended with his regular season in our minds..Cody was better than Orlando in the other offensive stats. ( ABs were 77 and 78 )
But remember? Bochy seldom played Cody until the postseason; he inexplicably played Guillen a lot more. I’m sure of it.
He only played Ross because guillen got caught up in that steroid shipment case. That’s why I love guillen: we might not have won the world series without him š
I’m not sure it’s as inexplicable anymore.
Wow…Altuve looks about like Fred Patek size.
I’m not good at inventing or writing jokes. Maybe one of you can come up with an answer to this joke: what’s the difference between Kershaw, Sosa and Happ? I will consider any answer hilarious…
Against the Giants? No difference.
Lqtm. (this will be the same answer you all get, btw) plus, what the hell, howsabout one of these bad boys: š
Anyone willing to finishing this joke: Marvin benard is gonna hit the giants wall of fame this weekend….
LOCQAOOLTMOO
laughing or chuckling quietly and/or out loud to myself or others
I love the challenge, Magnus, and already concede victory to Loo, tho’ i have some laurels in this field, having appeared, under my real name, in The Washington Post’s Style Invitational humor contest over the last 15 or so years, as well as in New York magazine, the Toronto Globe and Mail, and the New Statesman. I just submitted a caption for The New Yorker cartoon contest, but that’s a long shot. Your challenge is not unlike a few Jeopardy-type ones the Style Invitational has run. So, here goes:
What’s the difference between Kershaw, Sosa, and Happ?
Sosa and Happ have more balls.
(Weak.)
Which reminds me: My brother attests that while in college in Saint Louis he heard a probably inebriated Harry Caray say as TV announcer:
“Aw, look how cute that couple is over there. He kisses her on the strikes, she kisses him on the balls.”
(Hard to accept as an authentic story.)
Marvin Benard on the wall IS the joke.
Lqtm. Good one. š
Doug and Sammy don’t get it.
Actually, Halsey Hall, my Dad’s color guy on the Twin’s broadcasts, did say that. Caray got a lot of his schtick from Halsey, who got his from W.C. Fields..
