Go (away) Whitey and Voggy puts the Cherry on Top
Eli Whiteside is the luckiest man in the world. A man with no talent for his trade (at this level) has somehow managed to stay employed for 2 and 1/2 seasons and log over 500 at bats. He’s made over a million dollars. He’s got a World Series ring. A guy like Justin Christian who is still trying to get a whiff of his 100th at bat in the BIGS must just look at Whitey and shake his head. With 2 games to go it’s stat-watch time. Will Whiteside keep his head above the Mendoza line? Probably. He’s at .201 right now and I don’t think going 0-8 the rest of the way would drop him below. It might, I don’t feel like doing the math. Bochy probably wouldn’t let it happen and Stew should get at least one more start.
Some of his stats the last 2 months are just mind blowing. How did Bochy continue to start him?
He’s hitting .103 in September.
In 58 at bats in Aug and Sept he has scored 3 runs. He’s got 2 extra base hits. He’s walked twice. His OPS for September is .271. Huh? .271? Just like they gave me 400 for writing my name on the SAT’s I thought they gave you an OPS of at least .300 for knowing where the batters box is. Apparently not.
I get that he’s the great clubhouse guy and everything. I would have been a good clubhouse guy, too. But for a team so bad at hitting a ball it was really just….unnecessary to have this guy continue to miss baseballs with such great frequency. Stewart or Hector the Collector would have been better. And I DO know that. Either would have checked in with an OPS over .271. Right?
Congratulations to Voggy on a fantastic season. He was better at home than on the road but in many ways he saved our season (at least in terms of keeping us in it for so long). He was a deserving winning of the Willie Mac Award, though if I had a say, I would have had Pablo and him split it…….
Are you threatening me again? I’ve posted more against Whiteside being here than anyone, and I did from day one, not just after “Bitg Titty” left. And stop with the “stupid “and IQ bullshit. I already told you I changed my mind about not posting here. Ban me if you think I’m causing trouble- I stated a motherfucking opinion. pal. YOU are causing trouble by making ad hominem attacks besuse you disagree. Don’t do that. You usually end up apologizing in the morning, just try not doing it instead.
Michael– do not fuck with me. Go back to room B in the next 10 minutes or I will fuck with you. You can send me an email or a post in B. But not here. Now go. Final warning.
What about dessert?
Does he have to sit in the corner facing the wall?
I’m having eclairs and enjoying the view of the mountains.
Whiteside sucks, everyone knows that, and from what I remember, Michael was always saying that when others were grasping for something nice to say (he handles the pitchers well, he caught Dirrty’s no-hitter, etc.); these arguments here and now seem to simply revolve around Eli being in there again today as a) respect and thank you from Bochy or b) mind-numbing devotion to someone who probably should never have been here in the first place. Who knows why exactly Bochy started him tonight. I commented a few weeks ago on Bochy’s answer when asked why Eli was getting more starts (at that time) than anyone else: “Because he’s been here longer”. I thought that was a ridiculous answer at the time, but obviously Eli didn’t start tonight because Bochy wanted to win the game; it was, I believe, a) as mentioned above. Hopefully, that’s the last we’ll ever see of the guy.
Like I’ve been saying all year, Zito has “Closer” written all over him!
What!!!? No save for Zitgenstein? Maybe SF has at long last found its designated mop-up artiste.
If he’s relieving next year, there are about a dozen young pitchers in the sytem who should sue ( add Zits to the list of guys that I NEVER wanted and even warned everybody about- he’ll fuck the team when it’s most important that he doesn’t.
Of course I always was against Whitey even being here, let alone starting. Everyone here knows that…the whole Vern and Vera bit was mocking him playing. Vera would even bet against him getting a hit and was reieved he didn’t get to bat in the WS… no one who EVER posted here would say I wanteed him starting…
The title of the thread in “B” was what it was because it’s been therapy for ME…
Maybe too late in the SF evening for ya’ll to still be here, but being early afternoon in Saigon… Just read Jenkins’ article with his thoughts on the off-season. Maybe a good starting point for discussions here. I actually agree with most things he says, except about Beltran. Ok, so maybe it’s too EARLY for these discussions, considering the off-season hasn’t even started yet. But how can we not begin anticipating? I know I already am.
Well, they’re not going to do what Unrealityville wants them to do. And this is easy: they can’t fucking afford it.
Hadn’t heard this one before: “Burrell has a degenerative condition in his right foot that cannot be repaired surgically and allow him to run again.”

Let me clarify about Jenkins’ article: I’m a big “no” on Beltran. Can’t afford him, don’t like him. In fact, I’m opposed to any former Mets player coming over, so that also rules out Reyes (who wouldn’t be coming here anyway). Have the Giants ever had a former Mets player who performed well? I can think of former Mets including Alfonzo (never lived up to expectations), Benitez (terrible), and Shinjo (who?, what?). Maybe there are others. Anything Mets sucks. I’m basing that on no statistical data, just emotional. I’ve always hated the Mets. So there.
I doubt few here had heard of HSanchez until I made him a prospect of the day= and the next day he hit three HRS. I’ve posted about him several times since he’s been here. I said that either he would be the back up next year or he would open in AAA with Stewart keeping the seat warm. He did make a big jump this year and might need more seasoning in Fresno. It’s also possible they’ll dump Stew AND Whitey and acquire a vet back up. Whitey will NOT be here and I’ll up the bet to 50 bucks. He’s eligible for arb and the chances of him getting offered that are exactly nil.
I’m going to bed. All of you get in your rooms, pronto.
BTW: The LU Room B wants would have lost 100 games and maybe one fucking guy is a prospect. Go Vungo…
Big Flavor needs to lay off the booze. What a BABOON.
