Niner Game– Guess the Exact Score Correctly…..

Posted in Uncategorized by Flavor on October 16, 2011

I’m re-posting my contribution to Chuck’s blog this morning. Nailing football scores are tough but take a stab at it even if you don’t care about the game. It beats whatever baseball game is on today. For what it’s worth, I see Milwaukee winning today. Marcum is such the better pitcher than Edwina.

I think if this game was in SF I might see the Niners winning the game. But it’s not and I don’t. Too much gets determined at the line and while I have noticed the obvious improvement in our OL I just don’t think they are ready or good enough to face off with Detroit’s DL. I think it’s gonna be loud as fuck in that stadium and that’s won’t help us either. That’s how I think this game will get away from us—all the noise from those re-born fans who have been sitting glumly with bags on their heads for so many years? They are erasing those days who every Calvin Johnson TD….
I’d like to be confident on the defensive side but Johnson is a beast who no one can cover.
I see this as our *ugly* game. Detroit 37 SF 16.
The excellent news for Niner fans is that I think Dennis and I are the only ones who see this as a blowout and we all know how Dennis’ betting slips look at the end of a game or a race–torn up and thrown over his shoulder. I learned a long time ago to bet the opposite of whatever the biggest betting loser you know does. Since they lose WAY more than 50% of the time, it’s a solid way to make money if you can stomach going with that angle every single time. Plus, they can’t know you’re doing it or that would affect their decisions. Howver, I’m not betting on the game just throwing out my two cents on how I see it unfolding….
I’m really looking forward to this game and I’m really looking forward to writing a huge mea culpa on my prediction for it….

I don’t think it gets completely out of hand, but we are due for a bit of a sag after playing sky-high for 6 quarters. I think we make a game of it, but come up just short. Maybe 20-17 Lions. Nothing to slit wrists over. We might see them again in three months or so.

I’ve already picked Niners 20-17. As an all around team, we’re better. It could certainly go either way, but the team due for a reality check is Detroit. We’re a 10-6 or 11-5 team at 4-1. They’re a 9-7 team at 5-0. CJ is great, but throwing the ball up in the air and hoping the tall guy comes down with it is not an offense..
(yes, this is over simplified but my full analsyis is for Insiders only)

28-20 Niners. On a late garbage TD by Deetroit.

My gut tells me is going to be a low scoring game. Enter George Costanza: 38-20 Bert Lahr

And Flav, I don’t tear up my tickets and throw them over my shoulder. I neatly put them in the nearest receptacle. Keep America clean.

As with Fitzerald and Warner- you don’t stop Johnson as much as you stop the QB. We had pretty good success by getting in Warner’s face. The real key is the DB turning around to play the underthrow. Often the defender either gets hit in the back of the head or gets the interference call- or both. Again, they stop Johnson by getting after Stafford.

I’m at a baseball tourney in sacto. Can’t get knbr on iPhone because of licensing issues between adobe and apple. Anyone have any thoughts on how to listen/watch the game? I’m going ugly: 13-10 niners

I know nothing about NFL, but I will play
24 20 Lions on home field advantage

Stafford can be pretty wild guy. I think SF can run the ball and he makes more mistakes than Smith, Niners 24-16. Chalk this one up to Harbaugh out thinking their D and using every one of his weapons on O.
Dennis, morning line in the Chron yesterday had F-ing ducks at 14 and a half….if you got the half, Sun Devils covered. Otherwise, i guess it was the shaft.

Pretty darned good call by TF. He had the Niners winning 20-17. Let’s see how his baseball prediction goes today. (grin)

The Detroit coach apparently went after Harbaugh. Anyone know why he was pissed (umm . . . besides us kicking his frickin’ team’s ass)?

  16. ewisco's avatar ewisco said, on October 16, 2011 at 2:17 pm

well, i had the ugly part and the winning part right.

coaches delight though. win and still have tons of material to rip them new ones in the coming couple of weeks plus the bye. sweet.

  17. zumie's avatar zumie said, on October 16, 2011 at 2:55 pm

Blade, Harbaugh goofed up the coach’s handshake. A bit too amped up.

Chuck and Willie’s calls on the 49er game were good, too. Well done, folks!

  19. Nipper's avatar Nipper said, on October 16, 2011 at 4:21 pm

Handshakes are a waste of time. Harbaugh should kick other coaches in the shins. Okay I’m kidding….

No, no . . . You had it right the 1st time Nip. Get your shot in and then run to the team bus and get the fuck out of Detroit.

Once you say how the scoring will go, that’s part of your call, Chuckles. As I told you on your blog, you need to edit, dude. You blew it with the silly call on the late TD. BTW, what was your call for the season, 8-8?

      • unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck said, on October 16, 2011 at 6:02 pm

Waaah! Yer like Harbaugh, Yer a little too excited about this. But you are wrong. My call was closer.

Yeah, I called 8-8. Unlike you, I don’t really give a fuck about my call if they do better.

They have to go .500 for my 10-6 to happen. So I’ll probably look like a doomer at 10-6.
