A Place To Talk About Giants Baseball

Pitchers and Catchers Report……Finally!

Posted in Uncategorized by Flavor on February 17, 2012

Today is the day. Actually, TOMORROW is the day but I’m so excited about this long awaited date that I’m slappin’ this bad boy up here tonight. Plus, I’m going to be at Golden Gate Fields all day tomorrow (going old school and actually ATTENDING the races instead of betting on them in my living room). Anyway, early day tomorrow. They’re all early days, I’m “king of the 4am crowd”…..

One Weirdo-Random Prediction for each team in our division:

Arizona: Cahill is going to have a very good year. I’ll say 17-8, 3.21 ERA

Dodgers: Jansen saves 31 games after taking over the closing duties from Guerra (maybe before ST ends but definitely by May 1st).

Colorado: Tyler Colvin finds a way into that outfield at some point and has a big year. 20+ hrs will happen………

San Diego: Yonder Alonso hits 30 b0mbs.

The Giants: Pagan’s hits+steals out number Melky’s hits+steals. 191-172

And now for a pic of my kid. Look at this freaking purple starfish we found at the beach today. It was sucking the hell out of her hand when I took this photo….

Your prediction about Cahill brings to mind the stupid, goddamned Snakes–they’ll probably be a force to be reckoned with again this year. Although last year our injuries and weird bad luck gave them the division on a silver platter, they will be contenders this year and Cahill will probably be a pitching beast for those Arizona upstart fuckers.

I have many more predictions for each of these teams but these were the random ones that popped into my head when I wrote the post.

Flav, they’re actually televising the El Camino Real Derby live today on CSNCA.
Look for the cameras and give a shout out to the Flap. You can do that right after you toss both of Hollendorfer’s horses.

    How about ‘Handsome Mike’?

I like the Doug O’Neill shipper. Hell. I even like the Lloyd Mason horse to his outside at a huge price. That’s coming from the leading chalk eating weasel in the state. The “Rag” figs color the 8 a contender at 20-1. But knowing my history when I play the long shots, that means the Dorf will win at 8/5.

I think Daddy Nose Best wins that race……..

Credit the Hornets with an excellent defensive gameplan against the Knicks last night. They had two defenders on Lin when he tried to penetrate the paint, and Lin kept forcing the issue, and committing turnovers. He got a little greedy last night, and needed to settle for a more conservative approach in that particular game.

He’s done it here, he did it in LA, I say it’s time we put a stop to Ortiz stealing innings from deserving youngsters…

I’m not sure what the mindset is behind signing Ramon…he’s 39 and we have Heath Hempsey, who I’m sure can do a lot better than Ortiz.

By the way, great photo, BF. Professional photographers couldn’t have done a better job with that. Frame copies, send to the relatives, and you’ve got Christmas 2012 covered.

Radically original predictions that emanate knowledge and boldness about the NL West, making me feel duncelike. The picture is literally wondrous, and she looks like and reminds me of my two daughters at that age and also reminds me of my son’s natural-world passions at that age and even now, as he is a father. He wants to go to Madagascar someday for that reason. I hope he does. Good luck on the ponies.

Ok, I’m infamous for totally wrongo bongo HR predictions but I think they get 80 from Pablo, Posey, Belt, Huff.

Looks like a beautiful day out at GGF. I’m sure BF is enjoying himself a beer or two. If you’re downstairs at the paddock bar, say hi to Tony the bartender for me.

Hey! Duane Kuiper is up in the Turf Club. Kuip likes the 7 horse, Handsome Mike. He’s doomed. That who I like.

Mikey got hooked by a 90-1 shot. May not have cared for Tapeta.

Twinfan, 80 very doable. Think Pablo will hit 35.

Latest on Pablo’s weight: “He looks good,” Bochy said. “I don’t see it being an issue.”

I can see Belt surprising everyone and having a break-out year.

    • twinfan1's avatar twinfan1 said, on February 18, 2012 at 7:36 pm

He wouldn’t be surprising the “experts”, Bill james and others look for 25 HR and a plus 800 OPS from the kid…

Thanks for the nice comments about Katie. I am proud of her. I wonder if any of you horse players made any $ off my 9:32am post? That finish was a little too close for comfort, I had DaddyNoseBest singled in the Pick 4…..Great day out at the ‘Gate. When I go there and walk in, I always imagine the hundreds of millions of dollars Stronach’s gonna make when he sells that land. I hadn’t been out to Golden Gate in a couple of years. My god, that place is empty. It was El Camino day and it felt like a random Wednesday afternoon. No lines anywhere. If simulcasting suddenly stopped, that place would close up in a week………
