Fixing The Right Side of the Infield
How big of a problem is it? Pretty big. Our 2nd basemen have scored 14 runs this year, last in the NL. Our first basemen have driven in 23 runs, tied for 11th in the NL. And let’s not even talk about that thing, what’s it called…..er…….a *home ran*? Or something like that? Combined this season, our 1st and 2nd basemen have 3 total home runs. Toss our SS’s in and that number swells to 4……
Anyway, Bochy and Sabean have pretty much reached the bottom of the well in terms of available players in the organization who could produce better than the current shoddy lot. Any rock they haven’t checked under is either too young and not ready or they’re just AAA filler, something every organization needs.
Sabean will probably turn to the available waiver wire list next. I don’t know what that looks like and don’t really want to know. He DID find Burrell and Ross there a couple of years ago.
He could go the trade route. My main man on the scene in Houston, WilcoJoe, brought up Jed Lowrie and Carlos Lee as a possible blockbuster solution. Either or both would be fantastic additions–Lowrie can play pretty much the entire infield and Lee, besides being a 1b, can also play left field. He’s in the final year of a mega deal and we’d have to pay the remainder of the 18 million he’s owed this year. Lowrie isn’t a free agent till 2015.
Both of these guys are better options than every infielder on our roster except Sandoval. What would you have to give up? WillcoJoe threw out Brown OR Panic and Belt or Kieshnick. I suggested Belt and Surkamp (if his arm is healthy). Feel free to toss out your own ideas of what a deal like that would take but remember, you have to give up something good to get something good……..
Who cares? I only want to know who you’re going to pick for “BEAT THE STREAK!”
Weather report is on its way to assist in determining your picks . . . 🙂
Three suggestions Flav for Beat the Streak . . . Dan Uggla is 6-for-8 (.750 BA) with 2 home runs and 7 RBIs in his career against Stephen Strasburg; Nelson Cruz is 5-for-6 (.833 BA) with 2 home runs and 6 RBIs in his career against Jerome Williams; and, Joe Mauer is hitting .338 in his career against the Indians, his fourth best among AL teams. He also owns a .462 career average against Derek Lowe.
Chop, Chop! Get to it my man!
See, those are BAD picks becuase they’ve been so hot . . .
Weatherproof games: Red Sox at Blue Jays, Orioles at Rays, Reds at Astros, and Pirates at Brewers. After a light schedule on Thursday, the rain may end up giving some teams some extra time off on Friday. Cleveland, Detroit and Chicago all will have lingering showers and periods of rain with temperatures in the 60s. Philadelphia and Washington will have warmer temperatures, in the 78-82 range, but also possible showers and a thunderstorm. New York will be cloudy but should remain dry. Elsewhere, the forecast says it will be 68 and partly sunny in Kansas City, and 79 with a mix of sun and clouds in Denver. Low clouds hover over all three California sites, with only Los Angeles reaching above the low 70s in terms of the mercury.
It’ll be interesting, with the new wild card, to see how many teams are traders this year. If it turns into very few teams willing to trade starters but more teams looking for starters, trades could get a bit pricey.
By the by, I am DOWN with both Lowrie and Lee coming to the Giants. I had Lowrie on an FL team last year and he was unbelievably HOT during the beginning of the season, batting over .500 for 2-3 weeks at one point. A very streaky player. Lee might be more problematic. His salary will make him difficult to deal this summer, and he appears unlikely to waive his no-trade clause and wants to remain in Houston badly, CBS Sports reports. Lee has gotten a reputation as a bit of a creature of habit, so this really isn’t much of a surprise. He has turned down trades in the past couple of years. The Astros will try to deal Lee this summer, but if they are unable, don’t be surprised if they restructure his remaining payments in exchange for a one-year extension. The team will be moving to the AL next year and will need a DH, at least until some of their minor-league talent is ready.
Nevertheless, Lowrie would solve all sorts of problems in the infield, i.e., he can play 2nd and 3rd too.
that’s a good point, I forgot about that. You reminded me that Lee spurned the Giants before he signed that mega deal so you’re right, why would he waive his no trade clause now?
Regarding BTS, guys with great numbers against a pitcher are usually a throw out for me. Everyone went with Ortiz yesterday because he was 8 for 10 against Sherzer. Two problems going with Ortiz: 1) guys hitting .800 off a pitcher in a small sample size are very likely to NOT hit .800 off them forever—some o-fer’s get sprinkled in to those stats.2) pitchers read scouting reports just like BTS addicts and they are more likely to pitch around those guys who are hitting .800 off them. Sure enough, Ortiz went 0-3 with a walk yesterday knocking out a ton of players.
Lowrie got me a hit in his first at bat…….
Lee spurned the Giants when they were shopping for big sticks in the past. With a no trade clause…I think this is pure fantasy land….ain’t gonna happen.
Oops…failed to read Crag’s comment on this topic.
Lowrie i could see going after but no way on Carlos Lee. He doesn’t make even want to leave the pathetic Stros. He is all about the money and his huge pondersosa ranch out there in Texas. If I’m not mistaken the Giants tried to go after him a few years ago and he wasn’t there interested then.Like that Freakin Clown (sorry Bozo )LoRoche Cock didn’t want to come here either Fuck Them!!!! Plus he is 36 on the downside and we already have one of those at 1st as well named HUFF.
I could see Sabean going after Kevin Youklis though.Sox might deal him.His swing at AT&T would be perfect. Can play both 1B and 3B for depth.
I don’t think they have what it would take to get him, Kat…
Down with Youklis!
That’s ridiculous. And two issues here: they don’t need a third baseman, and
2. They won’t trade for a first baseman. Although I’m not personally in favor of all these options, they will make do with some combination of Belt, Huff, Pill, Posey, Hector, and Panda. The need is middle infielders. 1B can addressed internally.
I hate old ballplayers at least in a trade. Sure it worked in 2010 but that was a very fortunate year and is not likely to be repeated.
Thank you, old vets hate-um
As I pointed out yesterday, and has has no reasonable counter argument- the proponents of a deal with Houston have drastically over valued Lowrie. Boston sent him and a relief pitcher to Houston for a relief pitcher who is now in the minor leagues. So you need to disregard Craig’s warning that “you have to give up something good to get something good…” we need to give up someone(s) who are “OK”. Lee? A 36 YO Free Agent to be, meaning he is worth about what Garko was- a mid-level prosopect. Neither of them are worth any of our top prospects, including Belt unless
the Giants gave up on him. Automatically OUT on a deal with Houston are Brown, Kieschnick, Hembree, Panik, Joseph, Surkamp, Susac, Belt, and any other Top Ten team prospect. Out on the Houston side is Lee because we won’t need him by then and he doesn’t want us anyway. So that leaves us with Lowrie who would be mending SS, BTW. Arias or Fruckie will be at second.
So it’s just Lowrie- in fairness the relief pitcher that Houston gave up had pitched very well in Houston so I’m going to allow a major leaguer to go. Nate would start for Houston, so that’s a given. I’m amazed Loo didn’t jump on that. So really, all that’s left is a relief pitcher-I’m feeling generous so I’ll give them Austin Fleet, a 93-95 MPH reliever in AA. The poster boy for “mid-level”.
So it’s Nate and Fleet for Lowrie, and he’s not worth more. I’m throwing in Nate’s cult.
But I don’t want to move to Houston! Besides being ah Helacious place to begin with, my mother-in-law lives there. But wither Nate . . .
loo makes a good point that I think would also apply to stros. Why would they dump lowrie for yet another prospect, unless it was to improve their pitching? I don’t see how SF has pitching, esp potential SP, to give up. The idea of giving up on belt for an expensive old fart makes zero sense economically or otherwise.
1b, imo, is less an issue than middle IF. Crawford and his under .600 OPS is only starting because there isn’t anything else ready, and I doubt he will ever hit. that also might be true of the prospects at that position. Arias has hit the ball in the air a lot lately, which isn’t going to work for him at ATT. Add in burriss theriot culbs gillaspie, nothing to write home about. If any of these guys have to play they hit 7/8 in the LU. Maybe noonan and kiesch help out, i dunno.
Which means it’s all on the top 6, pitching and D, and I think SF can win division with that as long the pen does not get overworked due to SPs unable to go long in games .
The question about Lowrie has always been his health. When he’s healthy, dude can rake. In 2010 he had a .907 OPS. This year he’s got an .839 OPS. Those are numbers that are elite for a middle infielder.
It’s not relevant what Houston gave up. Players get traded for too much or too little all the time.
Giving them Belt and Nate would be adequate payment if Lowrie continues to show that he can stay healthy (and obviously, the jury is still out on that).
And while I would like Lee I understand the reasons we won’t get him…..
Again, if you know the history, then you understand why Boston got rid of Lowrie (and Weiland) for Melancon, i.e., Flav is right – it’s not relevant what Houston gave up, In short, Lowrie was expendable because BOSTON HAD A LOGJAM IN THE INFIELD, e.g., Aviles and Punto, coupled with hot shot prospect, Jose Iglesias in waiting, Look it up . . .
It’s totally relevant what Boston was wiling to give up for him . But whatever- we would not give up what you think we would. Nate and a minor league pitcher not named Hembree is more than adequate.
Lee, no. Middle IF is the key. Both SS and 2nd base are black holes with what the team has, and close to black holes for what is available for what the team can give. If they could score Lowrie for minimal loss, ok, but IMO, he’s always been highly over rated. I said a couple days ago that I figured Sabean was figuring this out, and may the Buddha bless him if he can, which is why he’s the GM and I’m not. I’m throwing the I-Ching tonight for that and I’ll email him in the morning with the answer.
G’s are back to 5 out, that’s ok. Time for a run at the top. I’m guessing the team as a whole is feeling ok, gaining ground while Pablo is out. No time to panic on stupid moves. But it’s pathetic to have Burriss (huge disappointment) and Theriot fighting it out for starts at 2nd.
Lowrie would be a good pick up for all the reasons mentioned. I don’t know the Astros roster. What are their needs? Would a catching prospect plus Scheirholtz do it? With the rising costs of the PS it’s too soon to give up on Belt. If he can take the opportunity in his lap the Rainy Day Fund remains intact.
Nate’s the most valuable commodity they have as far as guys that they would actually give up for short term help. Some low payroll team might put up with his periodic 3 for 32 streaks and see what he could do over a full season. Or maybe a contender would use him the way the Giants did in 2010…
Well, the Giants still have all of June and July to work this sh*t out. so far everyone here has only thrown out those two players. there are no others?
The middle infield is really the only problem(s) the team has right now, once injuries heal (subsequent problems from new injuries notwithstanding).
Sure hope Blanco can keep it going…
Still haven’t heard an explanation for his 2011 in the minors, but he’s played almost 300 games up here with a .360+ OBP. We haven’t a lead off hitter do that since.. well, not in this century..
For the first time yesterday I heard a caller to WFAN crucify Alderson for the Pagan-Torres deal. Didn’t see it, but apparently, Andres had a Pagan-like adventure out in CF the other night…
They wont revoke his Sainthood though, correct?
🙂
There is one issue that can’t be argued, and that’s Vungo’s superior defense. One or two Pagone-like incidents hardly change that. PaGONE has fucked up in the field this year more often than Andres has in his life. If that was the caller’s bitch, he’s a fucking idiot. .213 BA for Torres might be a better argument…although it’s funny that Torres still has better OBP leading off than the Pagan did. By a LOT…
The caller was mostly screaming about what a great offensive year Pagan is having. I doubt Met fans watch many Giant games…
Well, he’s had a great 3 weeks. At any rate, I know we all want both of them to do well. Although Andres can take July 30 through August 2 off.
Why would the Astros trade him, BTW? Because *we* could use him? That’s often the rationale for Blogger trades. The Astros have a rebuilt FO with hopes to be good-soon. Lowrie won’t be FA until 2015. Lee figures to be dealt, he has no future there. Or here. As to Belt- he’s still considered our best hitting prospect and he’s ours until 2018. Unlikely he’s going anywhere. And it’s entirely possible that no one is going anywhere. The middle infield is immediately upgraded by just playing Theriot/Arias. If they pick up more help at the break, could be a starting
pitcher and a middle infielder a little longer in the tooth than Lowrie..
Did anyone else hear Sabean on Tolbert’s show yesterday? He said that Franchez’s arm was good to go and it was really just his back at this point. Maybe the inactivity has helped his arm but who’s buying that?
What’s the “back joint” attached to?
Well the back joint’s connected to the hip joint with the leg joint connected
to the knee joint,
and the knee joint connected
to the thigh joint,
and the thigh joint connected
to the…..
. . . that’s what it’s all about . . .
Wait, that’s the Hokey Pokey
huh?
hyuk . . .
How da’phark did MIL sweep 4 at Dodgers’ stadium this week, nearly doubling the “L”s in LA’s home rec., from 21-5 –> 21-9 ?(!)
“although it’s funny that Torres still has better OBP leading off than the Pagan did. By a LOT”
Pagan still better overall Career OBP leading off at .330, Torres .309. Career BA leading off Pagan .293, Torres .232.
Looks like they are hitting their career numbers.
Torres didn’t really really begin his caeer until he starting starting meds for his ADD in 2007. Career doesn’t mean shit, anyway. The trade is not evaluated by what Torres did in 2002, pal. Overall, it’s obviously Pagan who has done better offensively, in the one hole however, OBP is king- and a guy hitting .167 in the one has an OBP 76 points higher than PaGONE had in the 1. The Pagan is also the worst defensive CFer in baseball for the second year in a row as per Fangraphs. Thanks for your input.
Granderson is below him. And Torres was at a minus UZR last time i checked…
Torres isn’t really even playing anymore so all this Pagan vs Torres stuff is over, at least until Torres starts playing regularly again.
Torres is barely below average defensively so far this year- well better than the worst defensive CFer in the NL. I’ve given Pagan his due, even listed him as one of the legit candidates for the ASG ( as long as defense is not a consideration, which it rarely is.) Torres returned to the starting LU Wednsday and was 2 for 5 with an RBI and run.
The debate is alive to whoever wants to to be. BTW, I meant Pagan was the worst in the NL, but second worst in baseball? Still terrible. With all the talk about Melky, it’s Blanco who saved this offense by getting Crazy Horse Out of the one. BTW, the Torres family welcomed a little one into the family on the 28th. Andres held the infant and didn’t drop him. The Baby Registry is here, I sent the New Parent’s Survival Kit…

CBS Sports is reporting the Dodgers, are interested in Youklis and the Dbacks and Giants might get involved as well.
Seeing them linked alot eh Kat? Youkilis seems like a right handed Huff to me. Unless it is for nothing (Scheriholtz) I hope SF stays off that train.
Still Dirt the Dude has a lifetime. ..390 OBP great eye at the plate and can still jerk the homers to LF.Platoon him with Belt at 1B o occasional blow for Panda is alright too.
Another problem with Youkilis is that if he is washed up, you also have to look at an annoying batting stance. The batting stance is tolerable if he’s doing well. If not, the batting stance is a Rowand-esque annoyance.
Blanco RF, Theriot 2B, Cabrera LF, Posey C, Pagan CF, Pill 1B, Arias 3B, Crawford SS, (Bumgarner P)
fuck yeah! First! Wahoo~!~!~~~~~~
I’ve added some images to some of the great posts over on “B”. I’m going to leave that post up for quite awhile- the recollections of why we love the game are truly golden reading. No limit on posts- when you feel like it, do it.
Okay…no doubt, 2nd base is the weak-link on the team right now. But, I would rather continue with an Arias/Theriot platoon (this after Pablo returns…I assume Burriss is DFA’d), than give up ANYTHING of value to try and fill that hole.
If they keep winning series (as I mentioned the other day…they’ve tied or won the last 8)…then I am not that worried about the situation…certainly not to the point of dealing away anything of value.
Well, we saw that we now have a young prospect renamed “Joe Panic”… I’m not sure I’d presume Burriss is DFAed, BTW . And I think an Arias/Theriot middle infield could happen soon.
If Burriss is not DFA’d who gets moved to create a spot for Pablo? Surely not Theriot or Arias. You think they keep Arias, Theriot and Burriss, and send Crawford down?
They only have one reserve infielder(non-1B) now. The idea that they MUST have a RH power bat off the bench is poppycock, Pill could go. He needs some good ABs or they’ll just go back to Posey against lefties.
Polite applause and no audible boos for Beltran returning to NY tonight – I already forgot how the SF crowd treated him…anyone remember? (it was all of 2 weeks ago)
If I remember correctly he was injured though i think he might have pinch hit in one at-bat. And, no, I don’t remember the reception
I think you’re right, Ted – thanks…
Went with Posey and Middlebrooks tonight.
Well, at least we don’t have to worry about Beltran this August when we go there- it’s his month off.
Beltran in CF just misplayed a fly ball into a double…
Well, with Kemp out and 10 of the next 13 against the Cubs, Padres, and Astros it’s time to make a serious move on first place. I would think next Sunday’s match-up (Tim vs. Texas) is a good bet for the ESPN night game.
I think you lose that bet. It’s a 1:00 start time. They’re giving out groovy caps that day, though.
You’re the only person I know that still uses the term “Groovy.” You know the last time I used Groovy (by Norcliffe out of Tinnitus)? It was the 1987 Tom Fool Handicap. Angel Cordero, Jr. was up. They almost killed that poor horse running him in the Derby and Preakness. Groovy was a sprinter, pure and simple.
If anyone’s interested, Santana’s no-hitting St. Louis thru 7. Pitch count is becoming an issue…
Speaking of horses, will someone please shoot Wainwright. Frickin’ POS knocked me out of 1st place in the Flap. Asshole.
Thanks for the heads-up on that.
On the Mets game.
107 pitches shouldn’t be an issue at all.
I’m going to two games of the Cubs series- Saturday and Monday. The Giants W/L record for games that I’ve attended hasn’t been great the last couple of years. I’m hoping that improves!
The Mets have played in 8,019 games in their franchise history with nary a no-hitter.
And they won’t get one tonight after Loo just jinxed ’em by typing “no-hitter.”
The Mets broadcasters are saying it.
Dateline Colorado – Rockies scored 2 runs on 2 errors by the Bums. Only the 2nd inning though, i.e., if that stands up, I will eat my Giants hat.
Bob Costas just said, “Of the 14 teams that reside in the Eastern Time Zone, only Detroit is sub .500”
And you guys wonder why there’s a perceived east coast bias. It’s warranted. 13 outta 14 can’t be wrong.
Well, it’s been the Giants, Cards, and Rangers in the last two World Series. The East Coast got to watch it on TV.
Thank you Zum!
I’m speaking in terms of only coverage. We here on the left coast will ALWAYS be the little sisters to the big bad old east. Regardless of how well our teams play.
Not even the Menace could claim that that 13 of 14 is common. So he’s wrongo again- the bias exists regardless of team records.
In his prime, and he’s not far off it now, I’d take Santana over any of the ususual suspects- Halladay, Verlander, Timmy, any of the current greats. He’ll take it to the ninth.
Ha, Beltran hit the chalk line, kicked up chalk dust, and it got called foul. This thing is tainted!
Too bad, so sad.
Actually, the Cardinals getting no-hit is kind of hilarious.
Good discourse on my trade proposal…We haven’t had a good one in a while, so I thought I would throw one out there…BTW, I said anyone on the farm sans Brown and Panic for Lowrie and Lee…Houston obviously in rebuild mode and I am not so sure they consider Lowrie a part of the future…They have a couple young ss in the system, so come Mid July I expect to see Wandy, Lee, and Lowrie all up for grabs…Belt makes some sense since he’s from the area, however they have their #1 prospect in 1b Johnathan Singleton waiting in the wings…The Astros biggest need happens to be our strengtht: Catcher…Especially since former prospect (and Stanford alum) Jason Castro looks like a real bust.
Lowrie never had steady playing time in Boston, but from what I have seen of this guy , and from what I have seen of OUR SS situation I would give Houston Joseph or Susac in heartbeat.
I should also add that Brett Myers will be on the block as well…Having a nice year as the closer but could be a 4th or 5th starter on just about any club that needs one.
agreed. And if he makes Belt go away that’s a double trade……
I’m just interested in how one tell a that an injury prone player is no longer injury prone. I’ll wait.
Also- very few trades happen where the principals haven’t hit the rumor wire. There’s zero info that I’ve seen where Lowrie is or might be on the market.
Yes!
Shit. I was rooting for a hit.
What a fantastic story that no hitter is. Fun to watch the last at bat. Terry Collins was classic—just a slight nod and a shake of the hand of that coach (who tried to hug him). Collins was probably just thankful he didn’t break Santana letting him go 134……..
The Cubbies are a woeful 6-17 on the road. Shit. If we don’t bust out the Whuppin’ Stick on these sorry sacks of shits, we got trouble.
Oh shut your pie hole. Any team can go off at any time. Did you see Seattle put the beat down on Texas the other night? It was 15-0 after 3. Do you think all their fans starts wringing their panties about being *in trouble*?
The Giants are playing very good ball right now, they’re about to get back The Panda, they are playing a million games at home and Matt Kemp is gone for another month. This is going to be like scoring pussy at a whorehouse (well, for ALMOST all of us)………
. . . And the Dodgers just made their 3rd error. 4th inning, Rockies 3-1. Open your legs bitch.
Middlebrooks gets a hit in his last at bat. He was teasing me. Posey gets me to 18…….
I was wondering today if Wilson ever pitches for the Giants again…
I’d lay even money that Wilson plays before Fruckie ever does again.
Would it be too much trouble to ask you to get an avatar to go along with your handle? I loved the old Ruby/Oswald assassination pic that adorned your name back on the Splash. I believe that put poor old Nipper in an uproar, however.
Assassinations and running outta Schlitz. It hits home every time.
Wilson has better odds in my book then Fruckie Glass Sanchez does IMO Loo..
O/U for Melky hits in June: 29 1/2. As my friend Bill O’Reilly would say, “What say you?”
Just for the record, I’m taking the Melky UNDER. I think he gets exactly 29 hits this month.
That’s still just slightly over a hit/gm.
I wish Bumgarner had a better uni No. than 40. 40 isn’t a good number. In life or ball.
Better then Zito’s “73” Dennis.Though I do feel Timmeh should switch his Uni #55 to what really fits him #”420″…
Good article by Haft on how the Giants found Matt Cain: http://tinyurl.com/cju46mh
Great story Wilco . . . Thanks for sharing!
Great line by Cubs skipper Dale Sveum when asked how you handle Melky… his response “Punt.”
As I’ve mentioned many a times before, Dale’s a product of my hometown — Pinole.
He’s one of our few bright spots.
Brenly just stated that “many in the Giants organization think Posey is going to end up at first base…he’s not as mobile behind the plate since the collision…” I wonder if the “many in the organization” is really just Krukow?
Celtics lead the Heat by 22 as they start the 4Q. I’m sorry, but the NBA smokes major pole.
The last time I watched more than 5 minutes of an NBA game on TV (been to a couple Rocket games for free), Latreel Spreewell was a Warrior and PJ Carlisemo had a purple neck.
Nice one Wilco..The only thing that came out good for PJ was his sponsorship with Purple Tie Cleaners in the bay area who guaranteed. No Ring around your collar or neck from a Sprewell attack.
Jesus that CF for the Cubs Campanja whatever has to have the worse arm in the majors EVER!I WTF i could have thrown out Theriot at the plate. What a Pussy arm!!!!
No shit…I immediatley yelled “no, WTF are you doing.” I guess that’s why they read the scouting reports.
Yeah, it was surprising how not even close the play was.
Juan Pierre and Coco Crisp are right there.
These Cubs are not awesome.
Taco night again in Colorado (any time they score 7, which is just about every day when they play at Coors). Dodgers just made their 4th error and it’s almost safe to say, you can tuck this baby into bed. 8-2 Rockies over the Bums.
“I’m speaking in terms of only coverage.” That’s a lie. The Menace said the east bias was warranted because 13 of 14 teams over .500 are in the Eastern TZ . Last year 7 teams in the eastern zone were under .500, of 16 teams that were under .500. The bias has nothing to do with anything but New Yawk City. Period. No argument, move along.
I wasn’t talking to you. My comment still stands. The east rules in terms of coverage. Even more so when their team’s are performing. Go talk to the dog.
You used the word “warranted.” It was sort of your whole point.
“Point?” Where the fuck have you been? I haven’t tried to get a point across since my buddy Reagan was in office.
Doesn’t matter who you were talking to, you lied. You said the bias was because of the records. Everyone knows the coverage is biased and it’s all because of NYC. Do you need to have your post read back to you?
This isn’t a court of law, and you’re no goddamn stenographer. “I meant what I said, and I said what I meant. An elephant’s faithful, one hundred percent.” Go hatch an egg, Horton.
Zumie…That throw was out of steam when the pitcher caught it.Of course it would have been bang bang if the pitcher was tagging out the rosin bag.
MELKY CAN DO NO WRONG!!!!”
It’s my solemn duty to report that Melky may be a head case. After his first inning hit — which DID NOT score the runner — his BA w/ RISP stands at 100 points below his overall BA.
Flav’s streak marches on…
Fuck yes it does 🙂
Dennis, your buddy O’Reilly’s book about Lincoln has dozens of factual errors in it. That’s about right for someone from Fox news.
“Oh, come on, Audry! I look like hell, I got bags under my eyes. What’s that? Well, if you were a man, I would punch you. I’d punch you right in the mouth. That’s bush. Bush league.”
I think he had the most poignant part correct. Hope I’m not giving away any secrets — Lincoln dies in the end.
Yes, since the title of the book is “Killing Lincoln,” it’s not a secret. (grin)
Twin, thx for putting up the pic of statis pro game. They also had a great b-ball version, with defensive ratings, boards, steals blocks assists. you could press, fast break and match up individual positions…lotta fun.
Anyway, back when he was with Chicago, o-dog woolridge had one of the top 3 pt shooting ratings in the whole game. He used to destroy teams single handedly. I always loved watching the pure scorer guys and their moves.
I know “Youk” was discussed earlier as a possible addition…well, he’s already on my flap fantasy team. Here’s some thoughts from Rotoinfo (early lineup providers) on Youk…
As for Youkilis, he is 33 years old and has dealt with his fair share of injuries the past few years. However, he’s also due $13 million next year, or a $1 million buyout, so the Sox aren’t likely to get full value if they do intend to move him. Still, the guy has looked like the Youkilis of old in the nine May games he has performed in since returning from injury. Youkilis is hitting .313 with a .371 OBP and .903 OPS as he’s scored seven times while hitting two big flies. Moreover, though most seem to think he is washed up, he has hit 21 homers with 92 RBI and 89 runs scored over his last 147 games. That’s still some pretty impressive production, is it not? Now the .255 batting average in that time must improve for him to return to the level of elite producers at third base, but there isn’t a person out there who wouldn’t take a third baseman who hits .255-21-92-89 for a season, is there?
“but there isn’t a person out there who wouldn’t take a third baseman who hits .255-21-92-89 for a season, is there?”
I think we’re happy with our third baseman.
Stick Pablo at 1B you mook. We ain’t getting that kinda production from the Belt(way) Boys.
Dodgers just lost their 5th straight. This is not a bad thing.
Thank you.
Returning to Flav’s original thread, Theriot is now 8-for-21 (.381) since returning from the DL…
It’s that magic number 2 spot. It may be time to put Arias there — he’s now quietly hitting as poorly as Crawford.
Unlike Crawford, there’s a track record to show he *might* hit.
Always a great time when the Dodgers lose.May Tommy Lasorda cough of a Hairball eating his linguine.
I never tire of seeing that video clip of the Phanatic knocking over Lasorda!
For whatever reason, I read that and thought of Lasorda in the God Father, transposing his face as the corrupt Captain and getting whacked by Michael, while slurping up his strand of linguini. 🙂
Bummie’s being just plain mean to those poor Cubbies.
Dollars to donuts that Marmol completely implodes here.
Wrongo on that call.
The “Undertaker ” is dealing tonight! 11K’s looks like a CG shutout .Nailing the coffin shut on the poor Cubbies.
What kind of effort was that? Did Crawford have his Jimmy Hoffa shoes on?
Go rewind that as many times as you want: when he was blowing out a snot rocket he caught wind of Bochy coming in, he shook his head, and he clearly muttered “fuck you.”
I don’t blame him.
Thanks Bruce!!For pulling Bum and is chance for the CG.Nice pitching Casilla.
Sheesh . . . drama, drama, drama.
Now Casilla is out? When Bochy hears about this…
Man, Clevenger has a *huge* fucking goiter on his neck. Anyway….BALLGAME!!!!!
ha, *goiter*, I love that you noticed that. I said it out loud to myself, to no one around, thinking the same thing……
hahaha
Going to the closer was the only call. He made sure Bum could not lose. Chalk..
Best non-play of the inning: Pill not throwing to second.
Belt probably would have made that throw successfully though
