Braves have fessed up. As a bench bat he was a pretty good choice, actually.

Kuip got awfully jazzed about a sac fly, but heyt, they scored!

    • snarkk's avatar snarkk said, on July 30, 2012 at 8:01 pm

Scutaro hasn’t been here long enough to be infected with the Gyros RISP hitting disease. That sac fly was about twice as long as the furthest fly ball ever hit by Burriss…

I’m blacked out, unless I act like the lord of the manor and kick my daughter off of one of her pawn star shows. Listening to Flemming. What a bizarro inning. Could Bum be hurt?

  10. PawlieKokonuts's avatar PawlieKokonuts said, on July 30, 2012 at 8:21 pm

Something went wrong in this inning, obviously. Something happened to Bumgarner. Or he simply lost it mentally. Ugh. Reminds me of that historic blowout by Bum; was it last year? He DID recover nicely in his next start, though.

  11. snarkk's avatar snarkk said, on July 30, 2012 at 8:21 pm

  16. Locojuan's avatar Bozo said, on July 30, 2012 at 8:32 pm

You guys are cracking me up. First our ownership isn’t spending like the Red Sox or Phils, hell we could be the highest paid team in last. Although I don’t agree with management all the time, we aren’t sellers at this point. Scutaro gets us a run on a sac fly and that either isn’t enough or he hasn’t learned how to fail with RISP.
Theriot doesn’t handle a ball in no mans land (I would have blamed Pagan on that one) and drops a ball on a transfer and he’s fucked. We go down a run and it’s time to turn the channel. It almost sounds like you guys want to lose.
Fuck that shit, Snot Rocket time, let’s get em back.

    • Del Mar Dennis's avatar Del Mar Dennis said, on July 30, 2012 at 8:36 pm

NEVER want to lose, but with the way we’re playing… you know my schtick: We DESERVE to lose.

    • unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck said, on July 30, 2012 at 8:48 pm

Oh, settle down. The fucking Giants got schooled by the Dodgers by playing like lambs. THEY are playing without heart.

  17. Berger's avatar Berger said, on July 30, 2012 at 8:37 pm

This team’s most clutch hitters this year are Panda, Hector Sanchez and Posey. Two of the three are out. Pagan might be as anti-clutch as it gets.

  18. Berger's avatar Berger said, on July 30, 2012 at 8:40 pm

No error on that play, but our defense sucks as usual.

  19. snarkk's avatar snarkk said, on July 30, 2012 at 8:41 pm

Posey on third with a gift passed ball or whatever with no outs, and STILL can’t score?
How long has it been since Bonds left? 5, 6 years now?
6 years and counting of this low scoring torture shit…

  20. Berger's avatar Berger said, on July 30, 2012 at 8:41 pm

Good news: Bums are now down by a TD. I’m guessing Roman Gabriel went down and they had to go with Les Josephson at quarterback. No relation to Michael Josephson the poet. At least as far as I know…

  23. twinfan1's avatar twinfan1 said, on July 30, 2012 at 8:50 pm

  25. snarkk's avatar snarkk said, on July 30, 2012 at 8:52 pm

Flash: Scutaro’s knocked in one run, and scored the other of the Giants 2. Shhhh, don’t tell him he’s a Giant.
    That’s half a season’s work for Burriss…

  26. Del Mar Dennis's avatar Del Mar Dennis said, on July 30, 2012 at 9:01 pm

Berger, I have to curb your enthusiasm (funniest goddamn show on TV. HBO and Larry best make a Season 9) on Hector Sanchez. He has a .669 OPS, and two, count them TWO walks in 128 ABs this year. But you are right about him being clutch. Hector has 24 RBI in those same ABs. That projects to 78 in about 495 at-bats. Hector “Clutch” Sanchez should be our #1 pinch-hitter with runners on base. And I’ll also give ya your boy Nate can play some RF. That was one helluva job holding Bay to a single. But overall, I think he’s related to Matt Ryan — He stinks on ice.

    • Del Mar Dennis's avatar Del Mar Dennis said, on July 30, 2012 at 9:08 pm

And I’m sure ya gonna call me in 2 seconds and tell me that called third to Nate was outside.
If Falcon QB, Matt Ryan stinks on ice, then your boy Nate is on an iceberg.

Congrats to Huff for lucking out and not hitting into an otherwise patented DP he’s famous for.
He should not have even been on the squad. That very well could be the last time he bats as a Giant…

    • unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck said, on July 30, 2012 at 9:14 pm

      One can hope.

      • unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck said, on July 30, 2012 at 9:16 pm

I guess I shouldn’t be so crass, but Huff basically admitted he took last year off. This year’s he’s done less. All for $22 mill.

      • snarkk's avatar snarkk said, on July 30, 2012 at 9:19 pm

These two seasons for Huff may be the worst performance for value of any Giant I can remember. At least Zito actually has gone out there for the majority of his contract, even with last year’s lingering foot “injury”. He signed that 2 year extension and basically wielding that pen was the most production he’s done since…

      • zumiee's avatar zumiee said, on July 30, 2012 at 9:35 pm

Your point is well-taken, but it’s worth remembering that he got paid $3 million for 2010. He was very high value for the money that year.

  42. twinfan1's avatar twinfan1 said, on July 30, 2012 at 9:37 pm

If it was his last AB here, and it might be, at least Huff busted it down the line. I’ve seen plenty of guys quit runnng after pulling up. After 50+ years of baseball, I can choose my memories, though. I’ll remember Aubrey for 2010 and forget the last two, which were horrible indeed.

yes he did, and the replay showed he was hurt by first or second step out the box.
But that has to be it.
Anything to make of mets being able to leave byrdak in there, with all these lefties in a row? Nate, of course with a line drive in the scorebook, tho crawford probably hit the ball harder.

    • twinfan1's avatar twinfan1 said, on July 30, 2012 at 9:43 pm

    • snarkk's avatar snarkk said, on July 30, 2012 at 9:44 pm

They should find a way to not bring him back for more this season, lest he embarrass himself further. No need to further cloud the great 2010 exploits with yet additional excrescence…

It’s why he’ll never be a closer. He’s a real good 8th inning guy, but when he hangs that pitch, look out. At least, at home, you get two more innings if he gives up the longball.

The odd replacement of Pagan smells of a trade to be announced after the game. That, or he is hurt? That was a weird substitution.

Since when did Bill Buckner sign with the Mets?

    • Berger's avatar Berger said, on July 30, 2012 at 10:32 pm

They gave Nate a hit! Line drive in the box score!

  62. zumiee's avatar zumiee said, on July 30, 2012 at 10:27 pm

    Bill Buckner’s revenge!

  63. Berger's avatar Berger said, on July 30, 2012 at 10:27 pm

The cave is rockin’! Nate is on 2nd. Go Belt!

  64. Locojuan's avatar Bozo said, on July 30, 2012 at 10:27 pm

The caves rocking. Go Nate, go Berger.

  65. Del Mar Dennis's avatar Del Mar Dennis said, on July 30, 2012 at 10:32 pm

That was NOT a hit by Nate. Sorry, Berger. And the official scorer who credited him with that double should be waterboarded.

    • Berger's avatar Berger said, on July 30, 2012 at 10:32 pm

      Why do you hate Nate?

      • Del Mar Dennis's avatar Del Mar Dennis said, on July 30, 2012 at 10:43 pm

I don’t. I have no hatred left. All my hatred has been dispersed to a certain 49er QB who’s name I can’t mention on this blog. But if that 49er QB in question were happen to fall off the face of the planet tomorrow (if there is a god) I would take that hatred and send it Marco Scutaro’s way…
It’s 3-2, SWING THE GODDAMN BAT!!! FUCK YOU, BOZO!!! I hope Scott Hariston dies in one of your hurricanes. Fuck him.

    • Berger's avatar Berger said, on July 30, 2012 at 10:35 pm

I thought it was a hit all the way. The way the 1st baseman went at the play was do or die. By trying to get the play at the plate it was too tough of a play to not call it a hit.

      • zumiee's avatar zumiee said, on July 30, 2012 at 10:37 pm

Davis blew that play. Eli wasn’t even breaking towards the plate.

      • Berger's avatar Berger said, on July 30, 2012 at 10:41 pm

Yes, he blew the play, but he never touched the ball. He did what Pagan does in the outdfield, make an easy play look hard. But I thought it was a hit all the way.

      • twinfan1's avatar twinfan1 said, on July 30, 2012 at 10:42 pm

Z, if you replay that, you’d see Eli was about halfway to the plate.

Does Bochy ever learn, Hairston kills us.

    • twinfan1's avatar twinfan1 said, on July 30, 2012 at 10:44 pm

Well, you don’t walk him there. That’s on the pitcher.

    • zumiee's avatar zumiee said, on July 30, 2012 at 10:45 pm

How in the world is that on Bochy?

  71. twinfan1's avatar twinfan1 said, on July 30, 2012 at 10:43 pm

    Unbelievable…well, maybe not.

  72. Berger's avatar Berger said, on July 30, 2012 at 10:44 pm

Who on this blog did not know Hairston was going to hit another HR?

  73. zumiee's avatar zumiee said, on July 30, 2012 at 10:44 pm

There’s a stereotype about this ballpark and HRs, but time and time again we see that a righthanded pull-hitter can homer here.

    • twinfan1's avatar twinfan1 said, on July 30, 2012 at 10:46 pm

I’ve said that many times, and we’ve had a bunch of guys who have. Hard to understand Buster just having 3 here this year.

  74. Del Mar Dennis's avatar Del Mar Dennis said, on July 30, 2012 at 10:47 pm

This didn’t come from me, but Frank the Cat would like to say…Closer in a NON-save situation and he gives up a HR? He’s shocked.

    FUCK YOU, BOZO!!!

    • zumiee's avatar zumiee said, on July 30, 2012 at 10:48 pm

Which raises the question, of course, who did you want pitching this inning?

      • Del Mar Dennis's avatar Del Mar Dennis said, on July 30, 2012 at 10:50 pm

Frank thinks that a silly question. Anyone but the closer, but of course.
