Next . . .
In the middle of game three, I posted something to the effect that stealing this game would be a huge hit to the reds and that the offense would come to life. Last night, I posted something to the effect that the stars were aligned and that the giants were going to win game 5. I also was ready to predict that we would defeat whomever (I was thinking the Cards) in the NLCS in no more than six games. But when the game began today I was nowhere near so confident. And yet, the stars apparently were aligned. So, do we care whoβs next? I, for one, hate me some cardinals. Truly, intensely, hate me some cardinals. Do I want to see them next? Yes and no. Iβm kind of stoked to see the nats do well. I would surely hate to lose to the Cards. But to beat them . . . oh, sooo sweet. I love the fact that whoever the giants face will have had to go five, deep into the rotation and hopefully deep into the bullpen. If I were purely a stat geek, I would root for the nats because the giants do so well on the road. Regardless, itβs over, giants win, in six.
And on we flap . . .
Wow. Cards took them. After being down 6-0 they come back with a four spot in the 9th to win the series. Un-fucking-believable! Bring those fucking Cards on! Let’s kick their red bird asses all the way back to Saint Louie!
Dammit! Yay! Fuck! All right! Hate the Cards! Might get to see game!
Ow, my head hurts!!!!!
LMAO…I want to have a beer with you sometime Ferret…
Before, I’d said I wanted STL, not Wash…. hope it won’t be a case of “be careful what you ask for”… π But I like our chances better, and despite the home woes in the NLDS, I like the fact they’ll open the NLCS at home. Two tough never say die teams, could be a great series.
As I was just saying, St. Louis had ’em all the way ;- )
Seriously, should be a rockin’ SF on Sunday with NY and St.louis both coming to town. I think some bars will be making emergency calls to Southern Wine and Spirits…
Their is a fine line between the team that holds a 6-0 lead bs the team that coughs it up. Think about it.
I’m thinking, I’m thinking….. I like it….. π
Or maybe you meant you preferred the Nats for that very reason…..
I gave three reasons earlier why I wanted the Cards…one of them was retribution for 1987…yeah, yeah, yeah…I know we beat their asses in the 2002 NLCS, but 1987 still sticks in my craw. I loved that ’87 squad and was SO FUCKING BUMMED when the Cards took us out.
Fuck THEM. I want fucking retribution for ’87. Bring their red bird asses on!
It is on like FUCKING DONKEY KONG!
I’ve called the Dodgers cockaroaches for never being really down in the bottom of the 9th until they were actually crushed and 3 outs. I may hand over that mantle to the Cards. That was a monumental comeback. So the NLCS will be a tradition fest, which is fine by me. Giants v. Cards. Two legendary franchises going for the Pennant. I like it. Plus, ex-Giant Matheny at the Cards helm. I like it even more. Bring it on…
Well, the Nats are a much better team than the Cards, so no reason to not like this. Not a lot to think about, we win in 5.I’d love to see Vogelsong/Lohse match up, though. These are two guys who couldn’t get Little Leaguers out for years and are now two of the great success stories in the game…
Saw the series closer vs. the cardsin2002 and it was awesome. Because of 87. Now? Fuck em. I’ve had a running hatred for that team since forever. That comeback was pretty fucking nuts.
Fuck YES. Because of 87. NOW! Fuck them!
Bum Game 1 Vogey Game 2
I see that , but why are they throwing the guy whose pitching the worst in Game 1? He’s had one quality start in 7 weeks. It then means Tim is now now Mota or he gets to start one game max. Hope Bumgarner has a big outing in him.
That’s what I predicted at 11:50 am . . . wswin, is this what Bochy said after St. Louis won?
Let the Strasburg gnashing of teeth begin…
Well, CBC people had the cause get a boost. Johnson wasn’t taking Storen out unless they were down 3 touchdowns..
As I said earlier, we match up much better against St. Louis then the Nats, so although there are no guarantees and “on paper” is just that, I like that we are going against them. Giants in 6 games IMO.
A Giants v. Yanks World Series is now a real possibility. Who knows if it will happen. But, if by chance, it were to happen, I think Giants fans everywhere would be stoked beyond measure. This would be a World Series of awesome proportion, and for me, a dream come true. I’m not jinxing it to say this, I’m trying to channel some vibes so that it happens. I would be lying to say that if SF is fortunate enough to get to the WS again, I would not prefer the Yanks. I certainly would prefer them. The thought of Lincecum and Cain going up against those fucks just makes me salivate. It would be fantastic theater for Giants fans, given the ’62 history, and the great history of our team in NYC…
Well, if they get there, Tim might be throwing toss with Hensley by then, He’s not goung to start until Game 4, if at all, against the Cards.I really want to trust Bochy on this and maybe Tim wants to work out of the pen, he sure was jacking off about how cool it was the other night. But I’m not thrilled with MadBum in Game 1 at all.
If Zito gets a start, and Tim does not, in this LCS, I won’t get that at all, given recent events. If that is the case, Tim has essentially become the upgrade for Mota, which seems beyond weird to me…
In total fucking agreement, there. So, I didn’t see much banter about Melky being reinstated on the 40. From what I read, the team did it to preserve their window on sole negotiations after the season is over. Team reiterated that Melky will NOT play in the post season. Yawn…
Yep, Loux and Christian were outrighted to make room. They’re obviously going to make a run at Melky for a reduced rate for 2013…
Maybe this is what Flav was alluding to, but…one team got an early 6-0 lead and held off the other team with defense and pitching, on the road and won the series. The other one, at home, gave up 6 runs in the last 3 innings and lost.
Giants imo have better pitching top to bottom, play good defense, and can hit plenty on the road. Should be enough.
I’ve got to stop opening up my laptop after peeing [in the bathroom] at 1:36am. At 11:30 or so I’d gotten a text. Almost asleep. It was from a Cards fan featured in my book. He said something about still basking as WS champs. I bite. I check score. 6-5 Nats. Nats score run, 7-5. Go back to sleep, knowing anything is possible, but…. must sleep. Driving to CT tomorrow for my mom’s 96th birthday. Go back to sleep. Wake up. Check scores. Oy vey. Notice two texts (one from STL fan describing fireworks going off on streets, other from RaysFanGio: “Unreal.”). Close laptop. Go back to what I hope will be sleep. No fireworks. Drive tomorrow. Brother is Cards fan. See him tomorrow.
correx: see him later today. Deo volente. G’night, girls.
Wow! Your mom turning 96 is big . . . Have a great time with your mom tomorrow. π
Happy 96th Pawlie’s mom!!! Drive safely! Go Giants!!!!!
This Sunday one could see the Niners v. Giants at the Stick, then pop over to ATT to see the opening of the NLCS. I’m sure more than a few will do it. Now, that’s a daily double…
That would be awesome. Unfortunately, I will not be one of those lucky folks.
Go Niners! Go Giants!
Safe travels tomorrow, Pawlie. Good luck with your brother the Cards fan. Do not take any shit from him!
And Happy Birthday to your Mom! 96 – that is awesome!
“If Zito gets a start, and Tim does not, in this LCS, I wonβt get that at all, given recent events. If that is the case, Tim has essentially become the upgrade for Mota, which seems beyond weird to me⦔
Why the hand wringing? Lincecum is likely to get the game 4 start as I noted in my earlier post. However, if he doesn’t start, then Zito will start and be on a short leash, i.e., Lincecum will come in early.
This makes perfect sense because Zito has done well against St. Louis (in an earlier start this season). I’m fine with Bochy starting either Zito or Lincecum in game 4. He gets paid the big bucks to make decisions like this and he has RARELY been wrong. Why? He’s there and we’re not.
If he gets game 4, then he’ll be on something like 8 days rest. That didn’t work out well in late Sept when he had an extra day or two of rest. I dunno. Maybe they’re thinking Bum needs to be at ATT to be effective, and Tim is fine on the road, which he has been in pressure situations. Whatever, as long as he gets in at least two games somehow (I assume nobody is sweeping here), he was aces in the two he threw in the Reds’ series…
I just checked the game log for Bumgarner and he pitched much better against St. Louis in his 2nd start against them this season, albeit, it wasn’t one of his best games, but nevertheless, it was a quality start (6 innings, 3 hits, 3 runs, 1 walk, and 7 SO).
He’s had one quality start in 7 weeks. I hope it makes it two but that doesn’t make the decision a good one. And Snarkk, do the math-the game 4 starter gets one start. Period. Getting in another game in relief may mean absolutely nothing. Fuck this-give the godamn start to Zito and see how well it goes over when Tim relieves him down 5 runs. Bruce Bochy- update your resume and leave October 2012 out of it.
I noted the totally stupid notion of Tim being the new Mota a couple of times. For some unfathomable reason, there seems to be a fundamental misperception that Tim would be guaranteed to have a lead after the sacrificial starter gets his ass kicked. Due to merit and proper rest, the rotation should be Vogie, Tim, Cain, then take your pick for the 4. Whoever gets the 4 will only get one start.. If that’s Lincecum or he doesn’t get a start, it makes zero sense and would cost Bochy his job if we lost the series.
I noted the only caveat earlier and that’s if Tim prefers to come out of the pen, It which case we should give him to the hanshin Tigers for some good sushi and 40 million bucks worth of hookers…
I don’t think he prefers coming out of the Pen. At least, his “I’ll do what they want” barely hidden unhappiness at being in the Pen suggested same…
Post game the other night, Bochy all but said that Tim will get a start. I absolutely think he is in.
Yeah, I think so too Chi, although I wont be surprised if Zito starts instead. If Lincecum gets the start, the Cards wont know what to expect because they have not faced him all year.
Tim fired the team up from the dead in the Red series. Without him, the MVP discussion would have been about the Red’s ball boys. A 4th game start is a frigging insult. .
I agree Twin. I think Tim should get one of the first two starts.
Figuring rest from the Wednesday relief job, he should get the Monday start at ATT. If they lose game #1, he could put them right. If they won game #1, he could help psych the team to a 2-0 hold serve lead…
G’Night Flappers.
Well, we all know what will happen now. MadBum no hits the Cards in Game 1, Zits shuts them out in Game 4 to complete the sweep and Tim saves the other two, leading to a HOF closer career…
Nitey-Nite. Believe it or not, care or not, luv you all..
Right back at ya, twinnie!
Night everybody…just a few days ago, didn’t expect to be watching the Giants play tomorrow. Aint’ life grand?
